- Let’s be real: Single parents are incredible. And on this episode, I got to talk with an amazing woman-Lakisha Simmons-about her struggles and financial wins in her season of being a single mom. You guys, she got intense about taking control of her money and building wealth, and now she’s crushing it as a writer, investor, PhD holder, college professor, coach, wife and (of course) mom. I hope her story inspires you as much as it inspired me!

Hey, fam! I’m Anthony. I’m fired up about meeting you where you are in a real, relevant, and relatable way. Here on this CZcams channel, we’ll be having honest conversations about finding our authentic selves by living life based on spiritual, financial, and mental freedom. At the age of 19-homeless and deep in debt-I turned my life around by becoming debt-free, and I decided to spend the rest of my life helping people avoid the same money mistakes I made. Today, by the grace of God, that’s what I’m doing every day with AO Enterprise. You can rock with me on Instagram @AnthonyONeal or online at anthonyoneal.com.
I did the same thing. Sold the house, got a 2 BR townhouse, and yes my boys shared a room and we were fine. No child support, we share custody too. God always makes a way. He is our provider!

@@Beautybizz28 And water is wet. Renting a property for income is an obvious income advantage. I also said it isn't "ALWAYS" the best thing. Which would imply that in other cases it may be beneficial. But that's not what she was referring to in the conversation. Home ownership to LIVE in was what she was talking about. Any asset that isn't producing income is a liability.
For very many families; buying a home in a robust market is the easiest and quickest way to build equity(eventually worth when you sell); also given market rents going up it’s a means to protect yourself from the lease race

This has to be one of the most inspiring and motivating message for a single black mom! As of last year, I took control of my finances. I left my expensive apartment with 3 children and moved into my mom’s house. I’m fortunate to live rent free but I supply the groceries and pay little utilities. I paid off my credit card debts, save about 90% of my paychecks and now I’m tackling my student loan while it’s interest free. It’s hard work and there are days I cry. I am a single mother of four and one is autistic and another has cerebral palsy from premature birth. I graduated with my associates degree in respiratory therapy. I worked in the ICU and the workload and 12 hour shifts was too much for me as a mother. Finding a daycare to watch my kids for 12 hours was weighing on me. My kids needed me so I left my healthcare career and worked in the school system which I learned was a joke. I am in transportation now and I am starting a business from ground up bc I eventually want to work for myself. My kids are now grown except for the last one who is a teen. Building wealth involves developing good habits like regularly putting money away in intervals for solid investments. Financial management is a crucial topic that most tend to shy away from, and ends up haunting them in the near future. Putting our time and effort in activities and investments that will yield a profitable return in the future is what we should be aiming for. Success depends on the actions or steps you take to achieve it. "You're not going to remember those expensive shoes you bought ten years ago, but you will remember every single morning when you look at your bank account that extra 0 in there. I promise, that's going to be way more fun to look at everyday", I pray that anyone who reads this will be successful in life too 🙏🙏🙏
Starting early is the best way of getting ahead to build wealth, investing remains a priority. I learnt from my last year's experience, i am able to build a suitable life because I invested early ahead this time.
Seriously I urge everyone to start somewhere now no matter how small, this is literally the time for that, forget material things, don't get tempted,i became more better the moment i realized this.

Getting rich off crypto is much tougher than it seems. I keep losing money while trading with these youtub videos, and finding a trustworthy professional trader to help out with these trades also appears to be nearly impossible. This is extremely annoying
That's true! Most failures in the market system today is as a results of poor orientation and bad experts methods in winning
Real estate has been the best but crypto is better rough for fast wealth growth
Now! One thing I tell everyone is learn about real estate. Repeat after me. Real Estate provides the highest returns, the greatest values, and the least risk but you have to be patient
Current real estate prices aren’t high because they have been driven up by irresponsible speculation. As was often the case in the past. Prices have risen because a constantly increasing population with money to invest has been created - and continues to be created.
Yes you are right. Investing was the best thing that happened to me last year
This was a very disappointing video, at no time was there any specific information given. Work a job, keep your bills low, invest money, pretty much everyone knows this system. How about sharing what type of brokerage she used to invest, what were her side hustles to generate extra income? How did she research stocks to purchase. Also other than selling her house, what other ways did she lower her living expenses?
Buy the book, I guess

When you build wealth, you may be in a better position to pursue the lifestyle you want. Your life can become one of possibilities rather than one of limitations.
To manage investment risk, consider maintaining a broad diversification of your investments that reflects your personal risk tolerance, time horizon, and the nature of your financial goal. Remember, diversification is an approach to help manage investment risk.

*The first step to successful investing is figuring out your goals and risk tolerance* - either on your own or with the help of a Financial Advisor. If you can get the facts about savings and investing with a well detailed plan, you should be able to gain financial security over the years and enjoy the benefits of managing your income.
I think the pandemic have really taught people the importance of multiple streams of income, unfortunately having a job doesn't mean security.
Successful people don't become wealthy overnight. What most people see as a glance wealth, a great career and luxury is a result of smart work.
It's not how much money you save in the bank, but how much money you earn and how hard it works for you. Money devalue over time, investment is the best option as it grows over time

The fact she sold the house is a testimony in itself. There are so many stories of people taking their life in the back of there $100,000 house, and my first thought was, "why didn't they just sell the house and start over?".
These humble beginnings are truly a blessing in disguise, because it makes us resourceful when these tough times come when we don't faint.
Beautiful episode! Looking forward to seeing a Part 2 in the future.
The stock market is definitely where the money is at!!
Stock market isn’t the only game in town. Looks like she’s buying index funds. Market dropped 40% in 2008. 6 total lost years! And right now the market is the highest it’s ever been.
@@bobby_ewan the best you can do is slowly invest in what really works for you in you’re situation.Plant you’re own seed for YOU. I started investing as a Teenager for myself not for the current boyfriend or friends or family told me about.
But which index funds to invest in
@@TheRealVivia Vanguard is good. Also currently Bitcoin skyrocketed since El Salvador became first country in the world to accept Bitcoin as legal tender in that country
This is so good, we need her to write that book. Turn your divorce into dividends. And as a stylist I agree, help your clients to help themselves
She has me crying! Like I’m crying uncontrollably
Anthony, love your content. Thank you for always being so positive in a negative world. You're the man!
I totally hated the barber shop as well. I used to cut my son’s hair too.
This is very interesting... I am going to talk to my brothers about this. Ladies shouldn't feel this way.
@@anthonyoneal Perhaps it has changed nowadays. My son is an adult now, so I may be speaking from a different time. 😊
But you went to the Solon.
The barbershop was on you because you’re fine. Not cause you’re a single mom
I love that you are doing this episode!!!!
The statement “Single Mother” is frowned upon.
So inspirational!!!!
I’m 40 and I was a single mom early in life and although it hasn’t been bad I wish that I would have lived for myself verses everyone else’s standards, including family. But 5 years ago I was blinded by love and became broke and homeless . It has been a journey to stand where I am today but I’m grateful for the experience and I’m learning to not make the same mistakes . This was so informational but relatable . I find sometimes that things are not explained to us on a certain level that we may not comprehend . Smart or not . Thank you
I have always been fascinated by investing, but without adequate knowledge on the right thing to do, I find it difficult to start. *I politely ask, what’s the best sector to invest in?*
It is entirely possible for a smart and patient investor to go into investing with the right information. One of the best ways to get started is to get help from an experienced Financial Consultant . I've been investing since *2015* and I'm extremely happy with the returns I get working with my investment advisor; * Hamilton Phoebe Zoe*
@@johnpoter9007 I am very interested in this information and I've some money sitting idly in the bank with that I can start investing without further delaying, If you don't mind How can I get in touch with your professional?
@@rudriguezbauer7520 As to get more details about my Investment Professional; *Hamilton Phoebe Zoe* easily do quick internet research where you can easily write her from, do your research with her full names mentioned.
@@johnpoter9007 I'm delighted to engage in this opportunity, I just found the professional's web page and have already written to her 👍
I'm glad I stumbled upon this. My wife and I works with Phoebe. Before now, we spent more and saved less. Phoebe changed that mindset and gave us a way to generate money investing in the financial market. Working with Phoebe, opened our eyes to a lot of investment opportunities, which in turn, helped us become less dependent of our earned income.
A very misleading title. Never really said how she saved the $750K. Tho she states she is underpaid, her doctor's income is more than most have to work with.
100% agree with you on this you, flashy title with little information, which basically equals to a sales pitch for a product
Clickbait
Thanks for mentioning Diane. You saved me the last 5 min of watching this BS story.
Thanks for saving me time
Saved money and invested in the stock market.
Man I love these so much I wish we can have this every day! Definitely encouraging
I absolutely love her energy and humility
Great show, I sat down with my 17 year old and she's (we're) starting early. I have custodial accounts for them now and they know how to research companies of clothes, fast food, and other necessities they like. They are owner's in these companies!!!. I'll definitely pass this show on. Appreciate you!!!
Just found your CZcams channel. Can’t wait to binge watch more because this video was inspiring! It takes courage to be 100% accountable to your circumstances. She’s sent a powerful message: everyone can take back control of their finances and their lives!!! Best CZcams video of the week!
That’s so true , hello 👋
Awesome wisdom led information. I retired from the military at 40 with nothing to show for it! That was my wake up call! I've saved more as a retiree than I did in my entire 20 plus year career. My husband and I also have real estate and are heavily invested in stocks! I didn't take heed to this information early on in my life but I have corrected it and I thank God for showing us the way!!! Livinb above our means is no longer a option!!!
Peace and blessings to you all.
Real, relevant and relatable is what we all need 🙏🏾
I’m 23 and I’m listening like 👁👄👁
Girl fr 😂😂 it’s our Jordan year! Time to jump into financial freedom. ⛹️♀️

Yes, you are young and can achieve the world!
Nickel and dimes savings, is a poor person Strategy. Look at more viable options such as starting a business that provides passive income. Do the research! You inject profits into stock market or even your extra savings, basically money that can be lost without hurting you economically.

This is the representation we need!! Dr. Kisha speaking facts! Great show AO!
I totally understand the relief of letting go her house. Unfortunately, in my area the cost of rent is what I pay in mortgage.
So glad I found your channel! What an excellent story! Very powerful! 💪
I have been saying that for years. "Give me what I need."
Followed Dave & got out of debt, built an emergency fund and then more savings and eventually starting my own business. Now it’s time to seriously invest! Time waits for no one! I swear it feels like I graduated HS yesterday 😂 (28 years old) lol but I have more than enough time! Thanks for the video glory be to God! 💕🙏🏾
That’s amazing. Pray you make it ❤️

Omg the part about single mothers in the barbershop! I thought I was the only one who felt like this! This whole video is amazing!
*Saves.....where is the offering plate? She giving a sermon sermon
Thank you 🙏🏽
I am a 58 year old West Indian female who walked that road before you. You make me proud of our accomplishments, stay blessed.
I love this. I'm a 40 y/o single mom, barely understanding these key elements. We only have the time God blesses us with, so age shouldn't be a deterrent nor an inspiration, rather, the fact that time isn't promised means we all need to stop wasting that which we do have. Thank you guys for this insight.
Probably my favorite episode on your show. This is a phenomenal success story phenomenal!
How Inspiring!! Can't wait to hear how!
That takes true discipline. Love it. can't wait.
The philosophy of the rich and the poor is this, the rich invest their money and spend what is left. The poor spend their money and invest what is left.
What's your experience?
I am trading on real account now after training on a demo account trading at first, I came in conclusion that real acct would benefit my training and experience far better. So I deposited $5200 in my first ever trading acct & after 2 months of struggling and blowing my acct( nearly lost 75% and I decided to join a pro advisory service) gradually, I started to actually gain little by little!
As I'm writing this I had recovered my first deposit plus a decent profit on top of that.
I'm really enlightened with your trade. I was so scared and skeptical at first so I made a little deposit of $5000 in my first ever live acct now I make $600k monthly trading with the help of my financial management
I will recommend Expert Posten Amanda. She is a sincere broker and she has been managing my acct and returning my profits as well since march till now.
Ive always been a pessimist and have mismanaged my money. It’s inspiring to listen to this woman.
The White House doesn't control my house - whew profound statement!

This was so BOMB !! Thank you Anthony and Dr Simmons for sharing this valuable information.
Thank you so much!
AO! I said this on another video but bro...BROOO!! You are CHANGING LIVES with the content and the guest that you bring on your show. It's so versatile. So many of these other podcast are either money focused or relationship focused..but you have Pastors, Entrepreneurs, Single moms, Married men, Married women, real estate folks, stock folks, insurance folks, tax folks..man 😤 It's a one stop shop. Blessings man. I know God is going to take care of you
