Personally I think putting your feet up on seats is disgusting! (who wants to sit on a seat where someone has had either their smelly feet or dirty shoes) It's just a lack of respect! NO-ONE in my household is allowed feet on any piece of furniture!!! In Australia our GP's can do a papsmear, you only need to see a Gyno if you have deeper problems!
I don’t put my feet on peoples personal property at their home or anything but when my back hurts it’s an automatic response for me. I understand it’s gross but I’m also not sorry lol. (Btw I’ve never ridden on a train or subway so this doesn’t really apply to me either way lol)
We have a no hat no play and most schools have a hat as part of the uniform

@@ToniaElkinswe have the highest skin cancer rates per capita in the world. I'm a 50 year old carpenter from Queensland which is hot and sunny. It used to be normal to go without a shirt and hat. I've had dozens and dozens of sunspots either cut out or burnt out. It's never very enjoyable, wouldn't say horrible but not fun. My aunty has hundreds cut out. Fortunately health care is very affordable here. Up until recently my GP did it for free.

@@ToniaElkins I'm sure it would be pretty common for American male carpenters to go shirtless. We aren't that different really. Its kinda nice to get the sun on your back while working until it becomes a real problem later on. We do have very reasonably priced sunscreen here but I always forget to use it. I always took the "no feet on the seats" rule as, don't lounge out & take up 2 seats. Let other people sit down on that "unused" seat.
No, it's keep your dirty shoes from where people may reasonably want to sit. I'm pretty sure that anyone who needed to place their feet on a seat would have a cloth to put under them.

I like my Vegemite that thick too, it's great to have before going out and having a few alcoholic drinks and as soon as I get home if I've had a few too many, it's great for replacing vitamin B that you lose from drinking alcohol, cheers

camels are not native of australia but were imported when the British realised how desert Australia was and camels are the perfect desert animal and so were used to criss cross the country and over time camels in the wild have flourished in Australia
As an Aussie I can tell you that the Vegemite clip was obviously taken by someone trying to 'ridicule' our tastes.
The FACT is .. as Vegemite is a 'concentrate' .. only a small amount should be used .. at least initially.🙂
The guy putting on the vegemite, was an ozzie, many of us like it quiet thick, that was abit more than i like, depends on my mood.
Separate toilets (with their own access and usually their own hand basin) are popular here but depend a lot on the space available in the house design.
You can find alcohol in some supermarkets in certain states but licensing laws vary and usually it's in a separate store right next door. Also staff selling alcohol require special training in "responsible service" which is probably not something a supermarket is going to bother with for a 16 year old behind the checkout.
You don't "have" to get a referral for a specialist in Australia. However the law states that without a referral from a GP you cannot claim a Medicare rebate, which can make that specialist appointment very expensive! It's designed this way so people don't book a specialist when they have a sniffle the GP can sort out.

Some IGA supermarkets have Grog in a separate aisle and Coles and Woolworths have a building attached to the Supermarket so you shop separately for your grog. It is called a Council Clean up you book with the council to come to pick up your large rubbish must be clean and no building materials . Some people go around the streets looking for usable goodies before the truck gets there ,sometimes there is nothing wrong people have upgraded or just don't want it anymore . On the trains the gronks put their dirty boots on the seat so you may end up with a dirty bum

David is both right and wrong.Yes, we have council managed "hard rubbish" collections but people also leave furniture for students and the less fortunate on their nature strip, which is an area of lawn between the footpath and the road.
Aldi also sell and display alcohol in their grocery stores.
@@petermcculloch4933 Thank you for the clarification. What you call the nature strip, we have that here as well and it’s where we leave our furniture & anything that we think people might want on that as well. But it’s for anyone who sees it and wants it. Anyone can drive by and stop and grab it. 😊

G'day from Down Under! A couple of observations...Many Bottle-O's or bottle shops are drive through. I have 2 within about 3 minutes drive...YAY!!! About the doctor's referrals. They are valid for 12 months so when I see my endocrinologist twice a year my referral is good for two visits. Likewise for Gynaecologists etc. BTW incase you haven't seen them BamFamalam are another British couple who relate their experiences moving to and living in Australia. Cheers!!!
In Australia .. we would see a GP first for an initial consultation before being referred to a 'Specialist' if need be. Once that referral has been made there is no need to keep going back to the GP. I think from memory that a referral lasts for 12 months but you can also ask for a long term referral.
I don't know why my fellow Aussie find bidets disgusting. I used them the first time in Italy and there super hygienic. Working in agecare you soon discover that you can't properly clean up someone mess with just paper.
Hard rubbish collection is only one week per year. The local council comes and picks up everything that hasn’t been taken and takes it to the tip.
5:47 you don't have to keep vegemite in the fridge. Nothing eats it. I just keep mine on the bench. It puts back what nature takes away. The yin and yang of beer.

The hard rubbish collection is for Council contractors to collect your unwanted rubbish and take it generally to the tip!!
It is NOT put there for other to rampage through to see if there's anything they can use ... although this does happen a LOT!

Actually no, America has many states and each state is different. In Pennsylvania you must go to a separate liquor store in the state of New York they have beer and wine stores and separate hard alcohol stores. In NJ generally there is no alcohol in a grocery store though Whole Foods does have it.

You find that sort of difference between the States and Territories here - liquor licensing (amongst many other matters) is a not matter for the Federal government.
Another reason for having a separate store for alcohol is that the check-out person, in NSW at least, has to have a certificate, Responsible Selling of Alcohol Certificate, which a regular supermarket checker is not required to have.
@@geoffk8996 That may be so in your State, but not quite the position in NSW. Here, the premises must be licensed to sell alcohol. I'm not 100% sure, but I think that the store manager needs one as well. The checkout operators don't..

Nippers program is not normal swimming lessons it is geared towards beach safety. Swimming lessons are a different issue and most schools have swimming lessons as part of the sports program.

The bottle shop or bottle-o is to make it more difficult for underage kids to get their hands on alcohol and must be manned by someone over the age of 18. Supermarkets have many staff under 18.
It doesn’t matter if you’re American, it is still pronounced Emew. That’s like us telling you we are going to pronounce Arkansas phonetically instead of how you pronounce it.
Accents are accents. It’s he we say it. When you pronounce words the way you were taught to say them then you’re saying them right.
That’s provided you were taught the right pronunciation in the first place. It’s native to Australia therefore the right way to pronounce it is how we do it.

That is literally how much Vegemite me and the kids have on my toast every day. We say to put a small amount on when tasting it as it’s an acquired taste but trust me, many of us like it super thick and yes I usually have a bit straight from the jar too.

Australia can afford to have separate bathroom and toilet because the population is relatively small, so there's plenty spare space.
The school children do not wear the hats in the classroom. When it’s time to go outside hats must go on or you don’t go out to play.
I hear you about the vegemite/marmite thing! I grew up in Christchurch, the New Zealand city which is home to the Sanitarium factory that makes Marmite in NZ. I always thought it was a technically edible lubricant. (In the UK Marmite is advertised as "you'll love it or you'll hate it")

A lot of this is over generalized, Some houses have separate toilets and some have Bidets, Vegemite is an acquired taste, and some acquire it way more than others a light scraping is enough but some do really paste it on. My wife never had to go to a GP before a Gyno she just goes direct to the Gyno its covered by our Medicare anyway so no out of pocket expense. The feet on seats thing is just disrespectful and the fine is a deterrent, Bums on seats feet on floor! Hats in school is now just part on life, I wish we had it, I have scars instead.
regardless emu is an aussie word so you really should say it the correct way it is always more respectful to say the correct pronunciation of foreign words that are unfamiliar especially when you are conversing with said country of that word
I say it how I was taught therefore I’m saying it correctly in my country. I don’t come for foreigners for how they say American things wrong all the time. Example, the state of Maryland foreigners always pronounce wrong. They say Mary-Land when it’s Mare-uh-lind. You have to remember we have our own accents so when we say thing the “American” way that’s because we’re taught that way and it sounds dumb & cringey when Americans try to pronounce things unnaturally a different way. I’ve been saying Emoo for 42 years, it’s not gonna change. And no offense but I dont think Emus would care.
21:23 Just teach them how to "skull", lay on your back and float. I wasn't prepared and in true Aussie style I went water skiing in my jeans. I fell off after a while and I went to swim. I realised I was worn out. so I just rolled over and floated until the boat came back.

Well I AM saying it the correct way in my language so it’s just the way it is lol. I try not to tell any one how to pronounce their words in their accents unless it’s something like someone’s name which then clearly you listen to that person cuz it’s their name lol
If these people are critical about the pronunciation of emu, the least they can do is give you the phonetic version of how we say it, “eem-yu”. 😂 There’s also a 0.48 seconds CZcams video “How to Pronounce Emu? No, it's really not that much Vegemite, i agree it's a lot... but that's not a troll. He's doin' it the perfect way, toast, lots of butter so the toast is like a sponge and then the strong Vegemite taste kinda gets neutralized by the butter. That's basically everyday breakfast for most Aussie's, but you certainly could put a little less on there. I've easily had that much on toast since i was a kid.

That's not too much vegemite for me. Everyone likes it differently. Most supermarkets l've shopped in have an alcohol section.
Nippers are young kids learning the ocean and how to resuce and do live saving techniques
They already know how to swim and normally very good in a pool
But ocean different as you have currants they get taught about how to spot
Also if caught in one what to do and why we have flags on the beach put there by life saver while patrolling beach
Because between the flags are safe area's for people to swim especially ones that not good swimmers
They also attend any injures from cuts drownings sea life injuries that sting people
But thats as they get older
Im pretty sure it maditory now at schools all kids get taught the very basic swimming to save their life if fall in water
Here most pay for swimming lessons we as a family used to put our money together for their birthdays xmas presents
To buy them lessons and normally get them a tears training also small,presents as well
Here they'll start teaching kids as babies because they still have a automatic holding breath to prevent them drowning
It comes from when in the mother's it a biological to all babies and start this early so as they get older not scared of water
They later on learn how to get out of pools if fall in
Which is rare now as we have fences built around the with automatic gate latches and designed so kids don't get easy access without adults supervision
Unfortunately it doesn't stop every child we still have drowning from pools but much less then used to same at beaches
You'll see video on line where they let go of the babies and the automatic hold breath and start kicking legs
Pretty sure it started here by a Olympian swimming coach and he also used to heaps of adds and should this as add
Was sick of hearing of so many children drowning and think had something with mandatory school lessons payed by government for basic training

Well I don’t take public transportation so it doesn’t even apply to me. However people who live with chronic pain do what they gotta do for relief. I care more about my comfort than getting dirt on a chair I can easily clean off lol

The owner of the pool approached my mom about having me possibly try out for the junior Olympics but I didn’t end up choosing to go that route. After swimming feeling almost like a job every summer from age 8-16 I was kinda over it by then lol

The roadside hard rubbish collection is a local Government service: once you put it on the kerb side, it legally becomes the property of the local Government. It's very rare, but If caught removing other people's hard rubbish off the kerb, you can be charged with stealing.

Yeah our Aldi has alcohol too. I don’t think there are any grocery stores in my city that don’t sell alcohol. Same with gas stations. But America is a huge place so maybe there are places here that don’t. I can only speak for myself and my city lol

The big Supermarkets have a Seperate Store, next door, that sells Alcohol. It is part of the Supermarket Chain. 🇦🇺
Hard Rubbish Collection needs to be Authorised by the Council. They give you a Collection Number that needs to be DISPLAYED on the items you put out. You DO NOT just put Rubbish on the nature strip because you will be FINED. 👀

Alcohol is sold in supermarkets in lots of places. This tourist has not travelled.
Different cities & different states have different rules.
But like she said, even where it is not allowed to be sold in the supermarket, the big supermarket chains have their own bottle-o's right next door.
