    TWO THINGS not mentioned in the video! :
    •1.Concerning the Green PS switch/sensor on the stock power steering line, you will NOT need that with this conversion! That switch doesn’t do anything but send a signal to the ECU to raise the IDLE when the stock system goes over a certain pressure while IDLING. That function is ONLY useful on the stock belt-driven pump because if you’re idling and turn the steering wheel the pump will have to work harder, so the idle needs to raise a little bit! That’s all it does on a stock system, and NO it will not trigger any CEL by leaving it unplugged, i hope this clears it up.
    •2. There is a Return line on the pump! You use the same return hardline that’s already on your car, all you need is a longer hose and all you do is connect that to the return on the pump!
    • For the most part i figured only certain people would be doing this swap, so there might be things i don’t mention in the video that should be “common sense” (not trying to sound a certain way, you know what i mean) So things like the return line, and mounting the pump should be stuff you can look at and figure out.
    Hope this helps 👍🏾

      I did this upgrade a few weeks ago. What fluid did you use? From what I could find the pump calls for CHF fluid or DEXIII. I used CHF202. I recently notice moments where my steering gets harder (especially in tight turns). Trying to see if it’s fluid type related or something else.

    Just got myself that same exact Volvo V50 pump! Will be installing into my 4th gen Lude very soon.
    Although, I've always been worried that it would draw a lot of amperage in which you would need to get a higher amperage rating alternator? I planned to have my H23A run a second gen Odyssey since it holds 120A instead of the Lude's 70A.
    I love my converted (sorta) manual rack and pinion but it would be nice to have ps on the drive back home from the track lol

    • @bb6g134
      @bb6g134  Před 2 lety +1

      Nice! I would recommend anything over 80 amps which is the reason i put a 80amp inline fuse on my setup. I believe my 5th gen has 100amp alternator stock so mine hasn’t had any problems powering it. Just make sure to use a inline fuse on the main power to be safe, just make sure it’s lower amps than your alternator. I haven’t blown any fuses using a 80amp so i would believe the pump draws less than that, but idk what it draws exactly

    • @bb6g134
      @bb6g134  Před 2 lety +1

      Any 12volt ignition source will be good enough! The small wire just needs any 12v ignition source to turn on the pump, just be weary of leaving the car off with the ignition on, if the pump is on and engine not running it would probably drain the battery. The best part about the Cruise Control button i used is that button can stay depressed, there’s already been a couple of times i forgot to turn it off and next time i started my car the pump automatically turned on because the button was pushed in already, but i know not everyone wants to use that button it was just perfect for me since i already has CC deleted.

    • @bb6g134
      @bb6g134  Před 2 lety +1

      I just unplugged mine, even if you’re on a stock ECU it will not trigger a CEL, the only thing that sensor does is raise the idle based on the power steering pressure. Because the stock pump is driven by a belt, if the RPM was too low and the pump makes a bigger load from turning the wheel then it raises the idle RPM to compensate. Not needed in this setup, no CEL either.

    • @bb6g134
      @bb6g134  Před 2 lety +1

      The “pressure switch” on a stock car doesn’t actually regulate pressure at all, that switch only activates and tells the ECU to raise the idle. It can’t do anything to change the pressure though, the stock pump only puts out pressure and it doesn’t change, and only changes based on RPM of the engine spinning 👍🏾

      I have 2 new videos i’ll be uploading, and the 2nd one is a testing on the track. But i have been daily driving this setup for several months now and i’m loving it, everything’s been solid, plenty of road trips too the pump has stayed on for several hours at a time now, no problems, but i’ll have some new videos very soon

    Why would anyone need power steering when driving a tiny Honda and power steering cut off around 5 to 15 mph. I gutted my power steering for 24 years in my h22 cb9

    • @bb6g134
      @bb6g134  Před 2 lety +4

      LOL power steering does not get cut off at speed at all in a stock car, the pump is literally driven by a belt connected to the engine there’s no way at all for it to cut off while driving 😂 and based on all the feedback looks like the majority of people want power steering, a lot of turbo and supercharged guys have benefitted from this, Preludes are heavy cars and the steering rack ratio isn’t meant for no power steering, so without it it feels horrible

      @@bb6g134 disconnect your power steering and let off the clutch slowly and turn the steering wheel as simple as that. After 5 mph it turn n move as it has power steering. Same as my vip v8 ls430. Took my power steering off also. But then again i have 21 inch arms.

    Why tho ,, hydraulic has soo much better feeling

    • @bb6g134
      @bb6g134  Před 2 lety +2

      The reasons are in the video, but it’s still hydraulic lol, it’s just a pump and the steering rack doesn’t change, so “feel” isn’t really changed. I also explained how it feels in the video when i drove it

    AN is not meant for high pressure. PTFE doesnt make it stronger. Its a liner compatible with different fluids like ethanol. You should 100% go to a line/hose shop and have custom line crimped. Or buy the tools to do it yourself. Besides that HUGE error, great video. Wait, also dont use audio fuses...lol.

    • @bb6g134
      @bb6g134  Před rokem +2

      The PTFE An line i used is rated for 1500+psi AND Power steering fluid safe. It is paired with the PTFE hose-end AN fittings because that’s what you have to use with PTFE hose. Nice try, but you’re wrong. This wasn’t a step by step tutorial it’s just a video showing what i did. People will have to use their own common sense when doing this at their own risk if they don’t do the research. Like mentioned either in the video or the description anyone doing this needs to take that risk into consideration, it is assumed anyone doing this themselves has enough experience or knowledge to fill in the gaps. Also, it’s been daily driven over a year, even ran 20 hours straight nonstop when i drove from NC to TX, if anything was wrong it would’ve shown by now. But thanks for the comment 👌🏾

    can you post the part number for the fitting from pump to hose? or is it the same as the one for the rack? Thanks. @bb6_g

      Both adapter fittings are shown in the video, the fitting from pump to hose is the one i was talking about and screwing into the pump, The bag brand says “Fragola” in the video
