THE best game I’ve ever seen live. Before this I was just tagging along to games not really a fan but after this game I was hooked on sooner football. Edit: I also remember talking trash to the tech fans in the south end zone all night
Tech fans always talk so much trash. They always bring up 2011 when they beat us at home. They act like they’ve actually won a national title before sometimes 😂
Man, I completely forgot how overmatched and unathletic Tech was against this talented Sooner team from 2008! I can't believe we were a Demarco Murray injury away from potentially upsetting the Gators for that national title.
Tough to say Florida was a team of destiny that year and stopped a supposedly historic offense at the time.. Percy Harvin played on an injured foot too
sboudreaux27 Florida would’ve won regardless of whoever came out of any conference.. only team that gave them trouble was Alabama that year.. Ole Miss was a fluke and lit a fire to propel them.
This is the best Oklahoma team that bob stoops ever had and is light years better than anything lincon riley had. The defense wasnt great but it was good enough,

Like I said Alabama (had the lead going into the 4th) and Ole Miss (lost the game) were the only team that gave them problems during the regular season. Oklahoma gave them as one trouble until the 4th. Had Demarco played they would have had a game plan for him too. Florida was a beast at stopping the run that year Either way should’ve could’ve would’ve, doesn’t matter FL in 1 🤷🏻♂️
What makes this really wild is that this was sandwiched around Tech teams not quite as good as this one beating OU at Lubbock in 2005, 2007, AND 2009. That says all you need to know about the Sooners' invincibility at Owen Field.
Yep, he was the receiver coach and Ruffin McNeal I think was the d coordinator. Lincoln was just sitting there thinking “stoops, one day I’m gonna take your job. And fire your brother” 😆
The most ridiculous atmosphere I’ve ever been involved in. I’m the student section we had to turn sideways and stand up the entire game because we were packed in there so tight. If u needed to use the restroom u better hold it til the end of the qtr. because if u left u weren’t getting back in …. It just was too tight.
I'm glad that it wasn't just my rose colored glasses of history playing tricks on me. That game was unlike anything else. I too remember standing sideways, chest to back, every single person screaming their heads off on every single play. Was mayhem.
Ill never forget herbstreit's inane babbling about texas. He kept mentioning how "texas beat ou, so they should be ahead", and when asked about tech beating texas, he says "well, they got blown out", but who did they get blown out by kirk? Are you saying that if OU barely beat tech, they may have an argument, but since OU destroyed tech, they should be left out? Realize how stupid that sounds?
So 2 things: 1) Why didn't Demarco Murray play in the 2008 National Championship ?? 2) I'm convinced if OU had Murray they would have spanked Florida. Not an OU fan (Tennessee fan)
