  • Decided to get my 1.4tdi tuned. Here, you see me comparing pre and post remap. I removed the ECU and sent it to a fellow A2OC member who bench tuned it and sent it back for me to install.

Well worth it on any turbo car. I had a 1.4 tdi polo years ago went from 70bhp to 100bhp. Not fast by any means and by far the slowest car I've ever owned. It made it more effortless and bearable to drive

Great video!! I’d definitely consider getting my A2 remapped especially given how affordable it is to do!!

I’ve had the same remap for about 3 years and it really is much better for low to mid torque. Mpg seems better too. Tom is a great guy too 👍🏻 great review.

Will this work on the polo 1.4tdi? And if so can you send me a link to where I can buy the ecu please

I converted a VW Lupo 3L (it has the same transmission and engine) to manual. I actually removed all the robotics attached to the gearbox, installed a clutch cable, a clutch pedal and a manual switching mechanism (lever+cables - they fit from the gasoline 1.0 Lupo model) but then I had to remap the ECU using the values from the 1.4 TDI model. It went great: increased torque and power, reaching 200km/h on the highway but the fuel efficiency dropped a little. The consumption increased from 3.6 with the automatic transmission to 4.2 on manual. I was excited about the conversion but unfortunately an idiot crashed into my car and destroyed it completely. Now I am searching for another one, identical version and tempted to redo the whole conversion process. It's worth the effort in my opinion.

Both great little cars and the remap really does make a difference if only for keeping up in modern day traffic and effortless motorway cruising. Good luck with your next project.

Hi Very useful I have the same car an SE with 141K on it runs really well but needs a lift. doesn't use oil but this should help, the oil filler tube/pipe is split which will need a better idea than original as not available still a great car Thanks Noel

Hello, could you please share what is your fuel consumption after remap?

    • @garageofdad
      @garageofdad  Před 2 lety +2

Mine averages 56mpg but that's an all round figure as I use it a lot for smaller trips. The tune is definitely worth doing.

Hello, first of all I would start that the audi a2 is very light so with 100 hp it flies away ... I have the seat ibiza with the same engine but with 90hp, it was very good until before mounting the 17 rims, now it has lost a lot both in acceleration and in maximum speed, I have recently returned from a holiday in the mountains with my family and I was constantly making diesel because it consumed a lot and in 4 people the car was struggling to climb, I think it would take 15-20 hp in addition I tried to ask some tuner here in Italy where I live but they want a lot of money and they advise me to eliminate DPF and EGR, I thought at this point to mount an additional module since maybe in a few years I will give away the car and why it is also much cheaper.
What do you think? Have you ever tried any?
However, you have spent very little on remapping.
    Greetings

The tune on the A2 makes a big difference being a lighter car. You need to have 40 profile tyres with 17" wheels to keep the same rolling diameter. Not done an eEGR & DPF delete yet but it is on the cards so look out for that video. Remaps are cheap over here as there are so many people doing them. If you go for a remap on a rolling road, it is much dearer but better for your own car. Good luck and Thank you

Thank you so much for sharing this super informative video and I like how you explained everything and left nothing out 👍.
I've just bought an A2 tdi a complete impulse buy only because it's from a village in Hampshire and it's spotless like new 😃
How can I contact Timmus for a remap without joining the A2OC?
Can you please help me with an email or phone number?
Thank you again for your well made video

Thanks for your kind comments. You'll really love your A2, and looked after well, should last a long time. You can only get Timmus through the ASOC forum. But it doesn't cost anything and they're all really nice and helpful. Timmus (Tom) is a super helpful and knowledgeable chap.

Thank you so much for your swift response, I sincerely appreciate it 🤝.
I have been driving the car for 5 days straight now and I'm surprised how well it handles the road and considering it's done 200k it's soundless, not a single squeak or rattle inside or out.
I'm already certain I'm going to enjoy it.

    • @garageofdad

Cost at that time was £50 but may have gone up since. Never noticed any increase in mpg as I drove it harder!! But I believe it does.
