Nordjevel interview - new winds of Norwegian black metal
Vložit
- čas přidán 6. 08. 2024
- Nordjevel is one of the better Norwegian black metal bands of 2000's. In this interview conducted at Inferno festival 2023 we have Doedsadmiral and Dominator (well, partly anyway) for some talk about black metal and beyond.

I like how Hansen is very genuine. I agree with him. It's all about heart, honesty and true passion for this music
Def
Nils = the best. Nice guy, talented drummer. I loved his work with Dark Funeral.
Yeah, he truly is something else.
I got to see Dominator in Dallas with 1349. He was tremendous!
Hail Nordjevel!
Thanks for the interview! The way Dødsadmiral describes his emontional connection to his musical output is very relatable. I also agree with your thoughts on the Gnavhòl album, pretty solid release.
Cheers!
Strid interview would be great to see!
Let's hope that some day that is possible.
I've listened to their last two albums and added Necrogenesis to my collection. I thought it was a great sounding album but I couldn't find the lyrics printed or posted anywhere. Gnavhol and the earlier self-titled are top-tier efforts as well. A very insightful interview by the way with these articulate and relaxed guys.
Thank you! Glad you liked it. Yes, the music is killer!
Killing it with the interviews.
Thanks! More will be coming with the help of Rauta's Patreon supporters.
Just saw Nordjevel playing live... Great band.
Aye. Saw them last year and nevt week again.
@@RautaMetal Interview also gave me some other perspective on the band. Like it.
@paco9007 That is very nice to hear! Thanks.
Great interview Jerry!
Thank you!
Wonderful interview Jerry, I think one of the deepest and accurate you ever made. Doedsadmiral's love for his ideals is admirable, his heart and mind belong to BM!I am a huge fan especially of Doedsvangr where his visionary and spiritual side is more highlighted.Cheers Jerry 🥂 😎
Thank you, Erika. Glad that you enjoyed the interview as we two enjoyed doing it. Good connection I'd say!
@@RautaMetal Exactly Jerry!
That's very true. playing music, especially aggressive music, it a great release. A lot of metal guys are pretty nice.
Word!
Fabulous interview. I loved it from the first word of your first question to the very last word of this very interesting discussion.
Kiipis Jerry!
Thank you Voltmand. Nicely said.
Wow! Great! Add to Watch later to see it carefully later
Listening to this interview makes me want to check these guys out
Their latest album was incredible
As you should! I recently reviewed their latest album and it's really really good.
@@RautaMetal I'll be checking it out after the interview. Thanks jerry
@S K So do I . I really want to know more about their music .
@@voltmandk.h.sherman777 listened to their newest at work today. Was really good. Hello Voltmand btw. Have a great weekend. I missed Rauta Livestream last weekend. I gotta work tomorrow. Talk to you later
I really enjoyed Nordjevel at the Inferno warm-up night last year, and I also got to chat with these two gentlemen a bit during the weekend, they were quite nice!
Cool guys.
Nice guys and playing a Nice good Metal Music. 🤘🖤
Thanks for the interview rauta killer love these guys 🤘🔥🤘🇧🇻👿
Glad you like it!
I think the drummer needs to open up more when it comes to his replies. The vocalist on the other hand is very detailed in his interviews...April 2023. USA.
Maybe we'll get to talk more to Dominator later on. He is also present with Myrkskog interview on the channel.
Rauta, love your channel and interviews. hails from Scotland. ps - if you invest in mics/wireless mics it would be amazing
Thanks! We have wireless interview mics in this one, but there was some weird glitch we didn't know about. Currently all our limited budget goes to traveling so we can do more interviews.
@@RautaMetal no worries mate, not a criticism just be amazing to hear much clearer that's all. mics aren't as expensive as used to be.
I know, didn’t take it as such. Just saying we have a good quality wireless mic already. The gear wasn’t the problem here.
Great interview Jerry. Looking forward to seeing Nordjevel at Cosmic Void Festival.
Thanks! I'm waiting to see them at Steelfest.
great interview!
Thank you!
Fantastic interview Jerry!
Thank you!
Another great interview!
Thank you!
Very good energy in this interview.
Thanks! I agree.
I'm waiting for a video for at least one song from the new intro, I really want to see Lars Brodesson as a guitarist.
Rauta!!! Please review a band called Antichrist Siege Machine. They are from Richmond, Virginia here in The States. They are an incredible 2 piece war metal band!
Thanls for the suggestions, but I will first go through my physical review pile.
@@RautaMetal ah yes I'm familiar with the "to listen" pile
Yeah, and my case it’s those physical copies I got for reviews.
@@RautaMetal I can't imagine to collection you have I'm up to 121 vinyl records and waaay too many cds
My collection isn't big enough. I'm way too picky to keep everything.
Thanks for video love NORDJEVEL Hail Rauta 😈😈🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤😈😈
My pleasure! Glad you like it.
Nils left. Nordjevel won't survive the loss.
Nils is back! He played at Inferno 😎👍
Since I'm a bit older than both of these guys I feel like I have the right to protest to their definition of Black Metal. It's not necessarily satanic, but surely, as Dödsamiral said, being opposed (to the establishment, humans etc.). Burzum satanic? Not at all, intitially just as a punk contrarian thing. Ildjarn satanic? No. Isvind? No. Judas Iscariot? No, and the list goes on among the most important bands. Black metal is/was more complex than that. The romanticism, mysticism & opposition are pivotal no matter if it's satanic or not. Satanism is just vainly driven urban unwisdom to me; it is too attached to this world, simply put. Sure, satanists would argue that It's the other way around, but it's their loss, their sorrow. I feel like the black metal I know & grew up with was more otherwordly aspiring than every other metal based genre. With that said, hail the 90s - the only real black metal era. What we have now is just metal with black metal riffs.
Well, yes you're right BUT we should also understand that satanic can also mean as "rebellious" like anti-establishment etc. so not just limited to opposing Christianity.
So I kind of agree with you and at the same time not really. It would also be easy to call a lot of 90's bm bands "teenagers sandbox" because in a way that's kind of factual too, with most Norsk bands.
More passionate? Sure! More arrogant? Definitely. More intelligent? No, not really.
So, pros and cons. It's easy to go on the nostalgia road and just close our eyes from the facts. :)
Judas Iscariot. Leave American bands out of it. They suck.
You clearly don't understand what Satan represents, or Satanism in general. It's like Rauta said in his reply to you.
@@necroman2754 Oh really. Save me the lecture. I know there are a plethora of interpretations of Satan, but there is no point stating you're Satanic if it means rebellion only, that is solely my point.
@@necroman2754 There's different kinds of Satanism. Satanism isn't even a "unified countermovement/religion". There's theistic Satanism, laveyan Satanism, etc etc. What they have in common? Not much really, apart from using Satan in its name.
I see Dominator is a hiperactive guy. Its impossible stay quiet 10 minutes. The way of his hability for playing drums come from this condition. I have two hiperactive sons. But Dominator and Nordjevel Rules the World!
So am I.
To be fair, Nils' abilities as a drummer are the result of his absolute regimen. As a hyperactive person myself, I find it a hindering attribute towards anything that requires growth from repteated diminishing returns. Instead he seems very composed when it comes to drums and say, rhythmic arrangements. I certainly agree it might come off as such but personally don't see (or hear) it.
Also high praises on drinking apple cider with a straw.
Also thanks to Jerry for these interviews on the channel. "That's a great question" actually have some substance.
Thank you, sir.
