In 2014 there was a coup. Soon after, there was a massacre in Odessa (dozens of people were burned alive). Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed. A civil war broke out due to the rise in ethnic tensions. For 8 years the Ukrainian military was indiscriminately shelling civilians living in Donbas.
If Zelensky honored the Minsk agreement and pledged neutrality, none of this would have happened. The 8 year civil war would have ended and Donbas would have remained part of Ukraine. War is the ultimatefailure of diplomacy.

There are several false claimes in this video. To call the small Russian advance a win is exaggerating. The Russian army has advanced 5 - 10 km in the Nort-Eastern direction of the city of Kharkiv, but that happend already a week ago, and currently this front is stabile. The Russian sources are claimig, that 1500 Ukrainian soldiers would have killed in some intense battles, and that might be true. But how many Russian attackers have died in those same battles ? A realistic estimate would be 6000 soldiers, four times the amount of the defenders. The West has done also other things than just watched those battles, a lot of artillery shells, ATACMS missiles, HIMARS rockets and Bradley assault tanks have been delivered to Ukraine recently from the West. The worst shortage of ammunitions is now over for Ukraine and that increased fire power has caused the recent Russian attacks mainly to fail. Soon also the F-16 fighters will be delivered to Ukraine.
So in a big picture the Russian Summer offensive will clearly not achieve the decisive break-through, which the Russian army leaders would have hoped. So Putin has changed a military offensive to a peace offensive by proposing a ceasefire. But Putin's conditions for that do not meet the Ukrainian basic demands. So this war will certainly contiue this whole year and possibly also year 2025. In a few months the Ukrainian mobilization will cause the Ukrainian army to get manpower superiority on the front line. But Ukraine will need a lot of Western weapons and ammunitions to be able to push the Russian army complitely out of Ukraine. It will be a long and bloody task. Glory to Ukraine ! Glory to the heroes !

None of this magical thinking is accurate. Ukraine can't reconstitute its military enough to reclaim anything. They've done that 3 times already, and haven't accomplished a victory anywhere.
It takes many months, even years, to create an effective army. Ukraine doesn't have months. Russia is using attrition to destroy Ukraine's military, and Ukraine can't help themselves.

The United States and NATO have finally met a worth adversary. These are not a group of poorly organized militia's, running around in sandals bearing RPG's. This is a superpower country with resources, and technology, the likes of which the Western media tends to downplay. What you cannot downplay however, is the staggering losses suffered by Ukraine, and the billions and billions of military technology Russia has destroyed on the battle field, most of which has been hauled over to Russia, as trophies, and a treasure trove on material for Russia's Ministry of Defense to reverse-engineer.
Russia is not really a superpower nation. Their economy is the size of Italy or Canada, and they don't have a lot of diplomatic/soft power either. They do have quite a strong military though as well as nuclear weapons. They are more like a major power - like France. Other than that I agree with your sentiment.
