Vito Bratta is for music what James Dean was for the cinema of the 50s, a revolutionary, a misunderstood, a complete artist, an exceptional guitarist and like a shooting star he illuminated the sky of Hardrock for a moment but his memory continues beyond of any night. Me as well. The industry almost killed him, back in the days where your label and studio owned you. You will look like this, sound like this and move like this, a long hair, make up'd woman looking rock star. (but not as much as other hair bands, including (Mötley Crüe) "You will be writing everyday for 10 hrs. You will record five songs a week and at least three better be hits. Here's one million dollars, you'll pay for everything,....you're set up two to three concerts per week for 10 months. If you run out of money, don't knock on our door''. etc, etc...I hope and pray that Vito is doing very well these days, even if he's not playing for himself. I love,...his guitar rendition of ''Radar Love''. He brought so much into that song, that no one will equal. Mike sang a outdoor concert years ago with a very good guitarist and played Radar Love, but he had nothing compared to Vito. My Guitar God, is Eddie and Vito sounds a lot like him, but Vito knows nobody, will equal him, so play like him with your own twist. I really love watching and listening to Vito play !

@@427HISS Vito is one of my favorites ever. But I wouldn't say no one is better. Everyone has their own style and influence. Even though he played similar to Eddie Van Halen, they were to totally different guitar player. In my mind no one touches Eddie because if his contribution to music as a whole, his innovations, his playing, and his song writing skills. He was the whole package. Vito is right up there. I'll never be as good as Vito. But I will always focus on writing great songs. And Even though the industry was horrible back then, it may have been better than now depending on who you ask. Subjective I guess... Anyways long live Vito, Eddie and great music. I can't help but wonder what he's doing these days and if he's even playing guitar at all. I heard that he just didn't want to play guitar at all anymore

I just listened to Eddie trunks interview with Vito and one reason he's not playing much is because his hands aren't the same. Vitto had the most melodic and tasteful solos I've ever heard. Just jaw dropping beautiful, and technically tight as hell. What a genius.
Such an understanding of peicing together melodies and notes that melt as fluid together gorgeously...what an artist. Surprisingly, alot of geniuses sometime shy away from the spotlight...he deserves this recognition.
The solo of "wait" is pure genius... The lady of the valley is phenomenal. Little fighter is awesome too. But I've never heard a more beautiful song than "When the children cry."
His solos just sing incredibly by themselves but fit in so effortlessly snug into each song. A rare Artist indeed. The real kind...

I never realized how much I loved this band until watching this video - I actually got a little emotional at the end !?!? It's such a shame we don't realize how much of their heart , soul , blood , sweat and time these guys put into their music...and the sacrifice of time spent making it all happen. Very sad when it all comes to an end and there's just no more music - I ALWAYS wonder what we may have been treated to if the 80's style of music would've hung on for just a few more years. I play guitar SPECIFICALLY because of Van Halen and Vito Bratta...and I absolutely LOVE their playing to this very day. Sadly , when Vito walked away from White Lion , he put down his guitar and quit making music...THIS is the most tragic loss from my perspective. It's sad to think he was so disillusioned by the industry that he gave up music completely...how much more great music could he have contributed if he would have played a little longer...tragic loss to the guitar playing world !! I do wish him the best though , and am very thankful for all the great music he recorded. Thank you very kindly for posting this vid - it's one of the best I've seen in a long while and I learned a lot about this band I never knew.

People keep saying that Vito is a VH clone which is far from the truth. The fact that someone is using
techniques he pickep up from another guitar player doesn't mean that he is a clone or even similar.
Vito is a very unique individual that stands out from the crowd as his phrasing, musical ideas, sense of
melody and harmony are way beyond any other rock player of this era. People judge a player with their
eyes, not with their ears. They see two handed tapping and pinched harmonics and think EVH, but the musical
ideas you'll hear in Vito's solos are so melodic...Vito doesn't hide behind the pentatonic cliches, which is what
a huge percentage of guitar players are doing. Vito doesn't ever play any notes that don't compliment the song
and that alone is a very rare thing to find in most rock players...which is another thing that shoots Vito way up
in substance over most of the leary shredders of the 80's. Till this day I still haven't heard a guitarist anywhere
near as melodic as Vito Bratta

Lucky enough to see them with Skid Row back in the day. Vito is an awesome (oft overlooked) guitar player from this era. Too easy to lump them into the crop of forgettable cheesy-hair-metal bands but for those that grew up listening to these tunes it is hard to deny the fact that wrote some catchy songs. Nevertheless whenever I hear these tunes I always have a smile on my face and a desire to drink more than I should. Clearly one of those bands that would crush it if they decided to give it one more shot. I think they would be pleasantly surprised by the reception they received. Valhalla awaits.

It’s crazy how this was filmed at the peak of when 80s rock was taking a deathblow from grunge. It’s sad that more people didn’t appreciate it for what it was worth and it took a decade or more for that to happen. This music has far out lasted what replaced it.
It’s too bad Mike and Vito could never rekindle that camaraderie and make music again.

    • @raynepromotions
      @raynepromotions Před 4 lety +3

Actually they. Came out around the same time. GnR former in 1985 and White Lion formed in 1984.
GnR released the biggest debut album in history in 1987 and that’s when White Lion also was just starting to become big with the Pride album in 1987 after their debut in 1985 on an independent record label that folded after their release.
So GnR was def not after White Lion but the exact same time and we all know who was and still is one of the biggest bands in the world.
Unfortunately it wasn’t White Lion too though. I think Vito is way better on guitar than Eddie Van Halen too. Way more melodic by far!!
