There was 1 Tornado Red MK1 Citi built for Avis #004 As all you know citi Mk1s came in black magic pearl and shadow blue. There is 1 in tornado red #004. This car was given to Avis as a token of apprecition between the 2 companies as Avis purchased over 20 000 citis from VW.

This was a very interesting documentary in which I learned a lot about Citi Golf in general. Wow, however, the 1.8 needs to be the best.

after the Velociti the ECU went from Mp9( one of the best VW made for 8v)to Mpi( problematic)

they should ve imported them into germany .... we would ve bought this ... :D if it would have been possible to sell it to the germans for around 20 000 euros or less ... they would ve went well ... i would have favoured this over an MK5 golf

At some point the rental fleets in southern Africa used CitiGolfs, much to the joy of German / EU tourists! 😄
