    Bought the lights and batteries before the price jumps from everyone wanting these walls. Great job Tom. Now we just need the Dwarven and Cavern equivalents : )

    Perfect design... Also you can use flickering candle effect leds.

    Great video, you can make it even more realistic by using a slow fade / flickering led to mimic a real flame. They are self contained just like the one you used and do not require additional wiring and components, so easy to use.

    Love it, will make some for sure. But probably will magnetize or use tack glue for the clear orange torch piece to the wall. I am to paranoid about the led burning out. I know they are supposed to last a long time but at 100 for $6 I have my concerns

      You could always just use a single drop of superglue on each side, that should be enough to hold it in place, but break away easily if you'd ever need to replace the bulb. :)

    BIG improvement over the first torch walls. Those are a headache to deal with.

  • @kamitsuna
    @kamitsuna Před 4 lety

    a 3mm LED would improve this effect for the scale of the torch. They work identically to the 5mm led. But this is a FANTASTIC design.

  • @DocLeo72

    Nice model and setup. However, any guidance on the temps for the orange filament? It's like printing with gummy-bears!

    • @DocLeo72
      @DocLeo72 Před 5 lety

      I figured it out. When ordering the transparent orange be careful and double check (alas I didn't) because there is a "flexible" filament that is titled almost exactly the same and it won't print through an Ender3.

  • @chalkboy8
    @chalkboy8 Před 5 lety

    Freaking awesome! I don't print the flame piece, instead, you can put a piece o' cotton ball where the flame would go. Have you considered using flickering LED lights!!!

    I have some CR2025's collecting dust, will those work too?

    • @Tombof3DPrintedHorrors
      @Tombof3DPrintedHorrors  Před 5 lety +2

      Yes, a 2025 is 3v, so it will power the LED, but it may not fit the battery tray well. You may have to use some tinfoil to act as a spacer if it is too thin for the tray.

  • @loopymind
    @loopymind Před 5 lety

    These would be cool(er) if you modified the model so it would house the innards of one of those led Thea-lights that flicker ever so slightly :)

    • @Tombof3DPrintedHorrors
      @Tombof3DPrintedHorrors  Před 5 lety +1

      Pssst... read the video description, there are flickering LEDs already linked there ;)

  • @MaltWhiskey
    @MaltWhiskey Před 5 lety

    Led’s don’t have internal resistance, so how come they don’t burn out by using up too much current? Unless those batteries limit the current somehow... Still very nice design.

    • @Tombof3DPrintedHorrors
      @Tombof3DPrintedHorrors  Před 5 lety +3

      If you run a higher voltage than the LED is rated it will definitely burn out (like using a 12v battery with a 3v LED), that's why I've designed it to use 2.2-3v LEDs and a 3v battery.
