    0:00 - Intro
Ayla Tesler-Mabe is back, and this time, she’s showcasing her favorite pedals she simply can’t live without.
1:04 - Reverb (Fender Marine Layer Reverb)
A pedal you will see on almost every pedalboard is the reverb. It adds more life and dimension to your guitar tone.
    Get one here! imp.i114863.net/FenderMLR
    2:20 -Tremolo (Boss TR-2)
Imagine your guitar sounding like it's underwater, in a good way! The tremolo pedal does this by changing the volume of the signal.
    Get one here! imp.i114863.net/BossTR2
    2:51 - Chorus (Boss CE-2)
The chorus pedal doubles your guitar sound to make it sound like there’s more than one playing together, just like a chorus (go figure)! It sounds great when you add in tremolo or phaser as Ayla does here.
    Get one here! imp.i114863.net/BossCE2
    3:50 - Phaser (MXR EVH90 Phase 90)
If you want to play like Eddie Van Halen with that arena rock tone, look no further than this phaser pedal. In this scenario, Ayla pairs it with her tremolo pedal to get a cool effect that sets the tone apart from other phaser effects.
    Get one here! imp.i114863.net/Phase90
    4:31 - Envelope Filter (Electro-Harmonix Micro Q-Tron)
Similar to a wah pedal, the envelope filter changes the frequencies, but without having to control it with your foot. Once you dial in your tone and adjust it according to your guitar, you're good to go!
    Get one here! imp.i114863.net/MicroQTron
5:28 - Overdrive (Lawrence Petross Design 68 Drive)
Handmade in Arizona, this overdrive pedal is extremely versatile and provides a huge tone to your playing.
    Get one here! reverb.com/item/2786687-lawre...
7:48 - Overdrive (Aleks K Honey Moon Sweet Overdrive)
Another handmade overdrive pedal, but this one is from Vancouver, B.C. When paired with the other overdrive pedal, it produces a large, full, tone perfect for shredding lead parts.
    Get one here! www.alekskproduction.com/produ...
    10:46 - Octave (Electro-Harmonix Micro POG)
This pedal adds an effect that's an octave higher or lower than what your original guitar sound is. It'll make one chord you're playing sound like you're playing three. Ayla demonstrates a powerful and loud tone when she combines the delay, overdrive, and octave.
    Get one here! imp.i114863.net/MicroPog
11:34 - Tuner (TC Electronic PolyTune)
It keeps your guitar in perfect tune, what else could you want? This one, in particular, has a great LED display so it’s easy to see if you happen to be tuning in the dark.

    About Ayla Tesler-Mabe:
Ayla has been making waves in the world of guitar playing as a professional guitarist, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and composer, since the early age of 14. After only been playing for two years, her first CZcams video (a rendition of John Mayall’s “Hideaway”) put her on the map and kickstarted her music career. She has since been featured in Rolling Stone magazine, become a member of the Ernie Ball and Fender family of artists, and earned various Berklee College of Music scholarships. Musically, Ayla finds great pleasure in exploring the numerous avenues available to her through various styles of music, as seen through her work with Calpurnia and Ludic.

Ayla proves you don't need big hands and long fingers to be good, or chunky fingers to have good tone. Her fingers are slim and her pinky only reaches the low E with a good stretch, and she is not only a great player but has great tone. And damn, what a positive attitude.

    • @ericwilson4982
      @ericwilson4982 Před 3 lety +5

100% agree. I also noticed how tiny her hands are on that fender beast-neck. She holds her own with any of the best out there IMHO. And such an endearing smile, too. A real pleasure to listen to.

It looks like she is playing a surf green Jeff Beck stratocaster which has a chunky neck.

I've noticed a lot of great guitarists have particularly short and pointed fingers. To me, it makes sense mechanically, because short fingers have a quicker action (you can think of the fingers like the short end of a lever, with the long end mostly in the forearm, where the muscles are) and pointed ones can isolate a note more easily and from a wider range of angles.

I just bought my first-ever pedal this week. An MXR Phase 90 (the orange block script, not the EVH model). It's awesome, so versatile, and I cannot wait to buy more pedals - I also want an overdrive, a distortion, a reverb and a delay, for starters. My Fender Tone Master Deluxe Reverb blonde already has tremolo in it. Great video, thanks for the gear tips!

One pedal I fell in love with is a "Marshal Blues Breaker." It has great overdrive, but subdued for lack of a better word than any other overdrive pedal I've used. Small, single function pedal with tone & volume. It gives you much more of a Chicago Blues style sound vs a heavy Rock overdrive. I have a Hendix style "Octavia" pedal, but damn I just can't get used to it, but with your talent you probably could. It'll take ya right back to, Hendix first album, & make you feel "Have You Ever Been Experienced" again. I still have that original album, that's how old I am. Love everything about you & your teaching. The world needs more like you.

Loved this insight into your pedals ( No Wah ? ) but laughed at the clapping & just wished for more of the sounds like Machine Gun part & EVH bit .. gr8 & you look so at home on that Strat .. Peace & love .. pout a daisy chain of flowers on your head lol Flowers in your hair lol But I have trouble getting a sound I like from my wah pedals .. it's a search for the sound I heard on the Radio growing up with Motown & then some others . I once saw Rory Gallagher get a wah like tone by using the switch selector with his right hand while just doing a hammer on with his left & I have seen video of SRV do a similar trick .. tried it but my Squier has 5 way & perhaps I am missing something else ? with tone controls .. Gretchen Menn uses a very expensive wah pedal cost's more than my Squier but her wah sound with the all girl Tribute band comes closest to what I long for .. which reminds me .. speaking of Gretchen .. I personally think if you went back to Brunette you would look cool .. Not that you don't look cool as a blonde . Bye
