- Although Inkscape is pretty much the same on Mac as it is on Windows and Linux operating systems, there are a few noteworthy differences we'll be touching on in this video. We'll also be doing a quick overview layout with some tips and pointers for getting started if you're new to the software.

I am really thankful for this navigating video; you are a life saver. I have been looking for courses teaching Inkscape solely on Mac because I was lost in regards to the menu locations and some features but I couldn't find. This video made it all clear

Inkscape > About Inkscape/or Preferences = Dialog box.
Collapse/hide the side panels, fn + F12
The Arrow at "Move to new window", you can select a panel rather than hunting in the menus.
Hold down the Space bar and move the mouse, the art below moves with it.
Instead of using the arrow to move through the Swatches, drag the top of the bar up to show more.

When inkscape launch first inkscape for M1 chip, it’s incredible insane perfomance, so different when i use rosetta
Great tutorial, thanks! I’m a total noob to Inkscape. So glad you don’t have music in the background. Just wish you could go a bit slower but there is always the option to pause. Your teaching is much appreciated.
maybe try setting button. and try .75 speed. often with other (wood working) how to videos I watch at faster speeds to get thru it- (not computer things thou I am also a noob)

I just switched to macOS.
One question: Do you realy work and design with your trackpad? I feel i dont have good control. I believe i need a mouse to design in inkscape.
If I have to do any kind of intense design work then I need a mouse for its accuracy. If I'm just throwing together a thumbnail or header or something simple like that then the trackpad is good enough. Mouse is definitely better though.
Hi! Thanks for all this helpfull information. I'm having some trouble with Inkscape and I would like to know if could you help me. Every time when I click to open a configuration option for some tool it is opening in a tab (full screen) and I couldn't change this configuration to pop up window, does anyone know how can I do it? Thanks
which version of Inkscape did you install on your mac? I'm using the latest Inkscape 1.2.1 build for apple silicon. but the app is constantly crashing on me...very frustrating!
At 7:03 after having created guide lines you say, "let me go ahead and undo all that". What keys or mouse actions did you perform? Also, once guides are created, can I move them?

Hello, I’m new to your channel and Inkscape. Thank you so much for the tutorials! I’m having a problem with the zooming in and out and was wondering if I could get some help.
I have a Mac but using a mouse and the only way I’ve been able to zoom in with the mouse is by clicking the scroll. To zoom out I have to use shift + clicking the scroll. When I use control + scrolling it zooms into the screen as a whole leaving out the tool bars 😭
Is there any way I can set it to use a single key + scrolling on the mouse to zoom in and out ?

Hello, over the past 4 months and hours of research im about to abandon Windows to take on M1 MacBook Pro.. I see that creative content CZcamsrs, editing etc use Mac 💻! So I too will jump into the M1 Eco system too I feel 😊✌🏻
Mostly m1 pro. It also runs pretty well on my first gen m1 air.
When I go to preferences in the Inkscape menu, nothing pops up. Why?
I've been using Inkscape on Linux for a while, when I tried it on my M1 Pro it kind of felt sluggish. I assumed they don't make an Apple silicon version and it's running with Rosetta 2.
But I haven't tried Inkscape 1.2 yet
I ran into this on my M1. They now have an Apple Silicon version that is much much better than it was on M1/M2.
The 1.2 release runs butter smooth on my m1 pro
@@LogosByNick Tried it myself, they finally released it for Apple silicon and I didn't notice. Now I'm happy with a copy of Inkscape and Affinity Designer 👍🏻
@@baldpolnareff7224 you should uninstall all inkscape versions/downloads then retry 1.2.1 version. I have M1 and inkscape was super sluggish, until I installed 1.2.1 and now it's reasonably fast. It's still a little slower compared to linux.

I have a MacBook Pro 2018 with Monterey. Inscape crashes and is sometimes unstable, even freezes. Is anyone else having any issues?
Great video! I can't access my iCloud drive on Inkscape. It only accesses a user account with iCloud Drive (Archive) which isn't current. Any suggestions?
That's a good question. Just checked myself. It looks like Inkscape only knows how to reference the hard drive. I guess the only thing you can do is move files in and out manually.

The device I recorded this on is a macbook pro using the m1 pro chip. I also have a first gen m1 macbook air and inkscape runs good enough on it. The 1.2 release of Inkscape was a real game changer. Everything before that was shaky.
