I cannot agree more! I’ve been so bummed out by negative comments from people who equate this film to child porn & it makes me SO sad that they spent 2 hours watching this movie and they have absolutely no idea what they’ve seen. It’s great to find comments from people who get it! This is Mark Ruffalo’s best role…and he rose to the occasion like a champ. I can’t even imagine any of these roles in anyone else’s hands…it’s just a beautiful film & every aspect was perfection. I have new respect for Mark Ruffalo
I would agree with you if it weren't for Robert Downey Jr. Despite winning the award, I still feel like his performance isn't quite appreciated enough. It's just so subtle, and I think that's why it goes over people's heads. It's just how the rage of his character builds over the course of the movie, It feels so natural. Not to mention he plays a damn good villain when he wants to.
This movie was so groundbreakingly genius, funny, surreal, and beautiful. Emma Stone's performance was astonishing! I loved seeing Mark Ruffalo giving life to a despicable character but he made it look so funny and original. Amazing movie!
Beyond brilliant. Still, sir Defoe is deserving all awards from all his genius life work and including this performance, feels like a long quest and is time for that respect for a long life/career achievement to come and be celebrated, all are the best and he is a master.
Emma Stone looks like a completely different person with long black hair and black bushy eyebrows. Her acting was SUPERB in this her & Mark Ruffelo acting was so good. The acting makes the movie not the plot which is bizarre
Absolutely respect Emma's talent and acting skills. Little known fact; she provided voice-over work in a vid game, back in a day.I have a voice acting background and have to say she nailed it. The vocal training itself for me was really tough, sometimes without noticeable results for months but artists like her are a great impulse to not give up. PS. You almost saw me as Leon in those new Resident Evil games :)
Even though it was sooooo long ago I watched it, this how reminded me in its uniqueness and utter strangeness of The Thief, The Cook, His wife, and her lover if anyone remembers that movie
My favorite film of the year. Seen it three times. I met the writer. Very good writer. Nice guy. Loved the visuals. Production design. Not cliche. Emma deserved the Oscar for best actress. Was a hard part. Yet she pulled it off.
I literally finished watching it & immediately watched it a second time. I felt like knowing everything would change the way I absorbed some of the early scenes, and I was right. Watching it a second time right away made me love it even more. The scene in Alexandria when Bella is introduced to abject poverty & suffering was mind blowingly incredible. Emma Stone made that scene pure art. I didn’t even know I was crying, but watching someone learn about that aspect of the world and having it so deeply & profoundly hurt their heart & soul…being immediately willing to go without to be able to give everything she has, or even just has access to, to people who need it so much more….my god. Her physical reaction broke my heart before I even knew it was breaking. THAT’S what a really special film should do. It’s definitely in my top 5 favorite movies of all time…right below Life is Beautiful. I’ve been saddened by so many of the comments likening it to child porn, calling it disgusting, and flat out insulting anyone who liked it. I’m sad because they spent 2 hours watching the same movie I did, but they have absolutely no idea what they’ve seen. It’s sad that they don’t understand what it means, or even just that Bella isn’t an infant walking around in an adult body for the entire film. They’ve missed all of the points & done it so prolifically that they’ve missed the entire message. And they’re never even going to try to understand it.
Loved it so much, but my only wish was I wanted to know the age of her brain for each scene. Bravo to all the actors, producers, and crew. It wouldn't surprise me to see everyone accepting awards for this accomplishment.
Extraordinary short that makes me appreciate this film even more. Just brilliant all around, and wholly unusual. I enjoyed all the cinematic nods within this, everything from Wizard of Oz to Freaks to Eraserhead. Amazing film.
It was horrible and terrific. Something I love and hated. Truly a philosophical, comical, cringe art film. It was like witnessing a crazy yet brilliant artist create their puzzling art piece.
Still can’t bring myself to watch it. It looks like style-over-substance with a little shock value thrown in to spice things up. An overwrought and rapidly-tiring trope. The French already covered it with the carnivale look in the late 90’s and early 2000’s.
@@angelinal7043 Well, mostly I think because it’s so original. The strange cinematography, colors, sets, costumes and especially the music was absolutely incredible. I have seen hundreds of films in my life and this one is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. It wasn’t always “enjoyable” but it was definitely unforgettable.
The movie is fine as it is. I wouldn't change anything. We just need to be more openminded and see the nudity as something normal and natural and stop feeling ashamed of seeing naked bodies, all the blockers are in our heads only.
@@coneighscauldron That's the beauty of art, that doesn't care about individual considerations. If you don't like that type of art, easy, just don't watch it.
Its a total demonic Movie ! perhaps the creator/Director wanted to heal his abusive traumatic experiences, i would tell him to better see a therapist and not call abusive, demonic things Art!
A pure disappointment. The movie is great. This is not the first interview that I've watched about the movie. I guess I am just too dumb or naive or pszcho because I saw was more in the movie n the plot than the actors and film director did themselves. Nobody is talking about the meanings and metaphors properly, everything is very plain and basic. Boring. The movie is great, the script is great. The team that made the move is plain n boring that has no depth to an understanding of the whole meaning of the movie. I never could understand how people make great movies without any clue what the story is about. I guess God is working his own miracles. The movie is great, but the team is not worth it.
You don't know when this was shot. And there was a tight shooting schedule. People are still getting sick and dying, from COVID or otherwise. Why wouldn't he protect his actors and crew?
Principal shooting was in Hungary, beginning in August 2021 (Many were dying during this time). The process started during the height of the pandemic. Hindsight is 20/20 - fortunately the cast is here to tell their experiences Edit: many in the USA died during late 2022, 2023 ..

I can’t get this movie out of my mind
same I cant stop thinking bout Bella Baxter
I’m with you, Blush!!!
I’m obsessed ! I just bought it
I feel as if Ruffalo was robbed of the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. He was brilliant in this film.
Agree!!

This film will be talked about for ages. Absolutely fantastic in every way
Such a stunning example of creativity and craft on every level.
"I always did [Ramy's] shot last when we didn't have time because I knew he would get it immediately" is the greatest compliment I've ever heard
The sets remind me of Gaudi buildings in Barcelona! Absolutely beautiful!!
I was in Barcelona 2 years ago! 💯 agreed. Must have been some inspiration.
Yes I agree totallu
I’ve seen a lot of movies in my life, but never anything like this! It was quite amazing and stunning! 👏👏👏

Beautiful Film,we were all left totally spellbound from beginning to end! BRAVO
Very organic. Safe designs for Bella. Beautiful and colorful! I'm an old Sci-Fy geek that remembers matte paintings.

I need a Poor Things monthly meeting to discuss all of the themes touches on!
the next best iconic movie we had the privilege to experience
If I had the money I'd pay them to build me a house like this~
Willem was amazing as well!
My favorite movie, THE BUDAPEST HOTEL.
Now I have 2.
Poor Things is a masterpiece.
Emma is a shining 🌟
Mark Ruffalo slayed it❤️🔥
Both films are indeed cool.

Lovely! ...How was the world "not ready" w/ Daryl Hannah as the Mermaid in Splash, or Milla Jovovich as Leeloo in 5th Element, etc, tho ~ ?

The film maker forces the service staff and all workers to wear masks when there is no pandemic - oh, this is disgusting!
You have no idea when they filmed this movie. It was likely several years ago at this point which would have been right in the middle of the pandemic
