you don't know scripture, let alone even reading the bible, you dont know how to use it as a weapon or you don't know what it says you can do. if you don't put a key in a lock and turn it, then the door doesn't open. Read all of the book of acts, problem with the evangelical christian is they let jesus in their heart but never started speaking in tongues or started prophesying through prophetic utterance or have the experienced the full manifestations of the holyghost.

Teachers that write books and preach about the “secret knowledge” they received while in dreams and visions is a modern form of Gnosticism. This is huge. This has been a burden of mine for years now. Thanks Josh

    • @michaellombardoawaken
      @michaellombardoawaken Pƙed 3 lety +11

Absolutely not...I believe in the supernatural and beautiful encounters and experiences in Gods presence. A life of union and intimacy with experience is mysticism in my book. It’s when people teach formulas that aren’t found in Scripture and they share encounters they had that have no grounding in scripture and teach people they need to follow certain steps to have the same encounters. People who possess to have a secret knowledge of God not found in Scripture but attained through their supernatural experiences. We must be rooted in Christology and all our supernatural encounters must stem from who Jesus is and what’s He’s done. That’s my take.

@@CasperLCat One thing you can do is direct them to individuals who do know about the Bible and biblical teaching. Recommend people like Michael Hieser, John Walton, etc. Be casual about it. Be like, "You Like Kat Ker, you know who else you might like..." This is a method used to help people get away from cults, fundamentalism, and hate groups. Start small, like recommend them to someone that will not scare them as much, then slowly introduce them to more straightforward individuals like Michael Heiser. I also recommend you do stuff like question them why they believe what they believe. Be very casual, and ask, "why do you trust these people," "Why do you believe this," "Why do you think this way?" Just question them very casually, like you are genuinely curious. They might find themselves stumbling to answer and will start asking these questions to themselves. Again, another method used by therapists and experts to get people away from extremist groups.

What grieves God should grieve us also...I so appreciate your heart in presenting this. It also helps so much that you believe in present-day gifts. I really believe the best conversation on these topics comes from those "in the house". I will tell others of your post. Blessings in necessary but difficult work. What I am reminded of is the childrens' story of the Emporer's New Clothes...everyone could see the obvious but no one would stand up and acknowledge it. I hesitate to use such a superficial comparison but it is incredible the acceptance of these teachings when they are far beyond credibility. What will happen to people when they realize the truth? It's so disturbing that so many people are accepting all manner of insanity such as this. A real wonder that they can't see that something is wrong. And if you say otherwise they seem to really get offended. I just don't understand it, unless they have at some point, in some ways, have maybe given themselves to this, and have compromised by staying in these environments - and have maybe ended up in a state of delusion? Have some been "given over to a reprobate mind?" I wonder? But something is terribly wrong, and so many of us have had to step away from them, in order to get free, and stay uninfected. This is a kind of warfare many of us could never have imagined. Survival is essential of course. We can never go back to this.

I used to attend Women’s Aglow about 20 years ago and Kat Kerr was a speaker at one of our meetings. She was very convincing in her presentation. This was during a time in my life where I was so desperate for the Presence of God, and was open to hear what she had to say. Fortunately I have grown in wisdom and discernment, but there are many who are where I was and are being lured into this dangerous teaching. It really saddens me that she’s still so prominent in the charismatic community. Tells you where the Charismatic Movement is heading.

This is the most impactful issue in my Christian life bc I was one of the duped. I had a seminary degree & knew the truth. I was lured in during my conversation from cessationism to believing the Holy Spirit acts today. The key argument in my head was, “Well, I thought the Holy Spirit baptism wasn’t for today but I was wrong about that and these charismatic people were right, so what else do they know that I don’t?” After the baptism in the Spirit I experienced dreams, visions, and had other experiences and I looked for people who could help me understand what I was experiencing. None of my pastors had a clue but Bethel claimed to. I should add that I was a pastor and taught these things to my congregation.
It all changed when I saw no one’s lives were changing. There was no interest in scriptures. The same folks who said they had a “throne room experience “ were staying on drugs and sleeping around. That caused me to look at what I taught and believed. Long story short I repented in front of my congregation for doing and teaching wrong and disbanded my group. I’ve spent the last three years with God relearning the scriptures and digging deep foundations. I’ve also reached out to individuals and repented one on one.
This issue is so important. There are a lot more people out there who are/were duped. It’s hard to come out bc the experiences are often real. God changes hearts though.

This one is borderline for me simply because 5 years after my salvation experience, I was still incredibly grateful thankful to the Lord and I would worship and worship for hours at a time with weeping and crying and in gratitude. One night as I was worshiping I had been worshiping about 4 hours just weeping and crying before the Lord and all of a sudden I was in heaven it was so incredibly beautiful the flowers were magnificent colors that I'd never seen before the air was like something I can't even explain it it made a noise. The very air had this faint musical tinkle that I can't tell you what instrument it was magnificent and then I was back in my body worshiping. So because of that experience I cannot say no that doesn't happen but the excesses I see are incredibly questionable. And as far as these various people we've got to cry out for discernment most of them I can't even handle listening to so that tells me something right there

Demons are the product of the mix of fallen Angels & the daughters of men. Demons are half breeds, bastard spirits, created in rebellion to God. Since they are not created by God, they are damned. They were the "Nephilim" ( giants) who had phisical bodies & roamed the earth. ( men of great renown ) who died & lost their physical form. They knew the flesh with it's lusts. I believe that is why they posses. They desire to experience & satisy those lusts of the flesh again. Not to mention they hate us because we are in God's image, so they torture mankind. I am so afraid of misinterpreting scripture and condemning something that “might” be from God , while at the same time knowing full well that the scriptures themselves warn about these very things. It’s truly heartbreaking and I am still trying to understand how to discern and when to call something out, because ultimately God is the judge.

I really want to thank and appreciate you guys, I have really been going through a lot of correction recently by the Holy Spirit in the some of the doctrines that I have held in the past. I like hearing people's/denominations perspectives (not just to believe) but to go back to scripture and see if there is truth to what is being said. I always found two sides, super ultra charismatic/Pentecostal/Word of Faith vs cesseastionist/anti-(idk what to call it lol)/heretic hunter and both sides have just felt off, as scriptures were taking out of context on both sides at any cost just to "be right" and prove someone else wrong rather than reading scripture to come to the knowledge of the Truth. I definitely started to take "one side" but knew something was still not right. I have been realizing that much of the doctrine that I have held has not been the most sound and I'm glad to find you all to really offer genuine conversation and creating a platform for believers to learn under the authority of scripture. I really pray that the Lord will keep on using your ministry to reach different church leaders and believers so that balanced teaching and unity can be restored to the church.
Edit: I haven't watched this video yet but I have been watching some of your past ones.

Very well done sir!! I'm right with you that if we dont teach and lead our own community then we have no leg to stand on with our dissenters. Cleaning up the bad and corrupt doctrines in the church is the responsibility of the scripturally mature and we ignore it to our own shame. You are not alone in addressing these thing with the Spirit of Truth and in love. Never be ashamed of your zeal for the word of God and the love of the body of Christ.

Man, being honest. I come from shades of this, never this extreme, and I appreciate the sobering thoughts and exaltation of Jesus and the Scriptures. I find a lot of this is rooted in pride and exaltation of the self (covered in Christian jargon and language). I believe in visions and dreams, but it is by His grace that He invites us and brings us into those encounters. It’s not conjuring. This is just a great video doused in wisdom and the Holy Spirit. Thank u brothas! I glean a lot from y’all’s channel and ministry.

So many churches and believers are going off the rails, continually seeking miraculous experiences and signs, wonders. I succumbed to pressure and influences from charismatic friends and wandered into some serious theological weeds! I’m grieved about all this and have repented. I’ve lost many friends and honestly can’t find any church in our area that is charismatic AND biblically sound. So I’m not fellowshipping in a church now which I difficult. A lot of the techniques used for these "tours" are exactly the same as I'd use as warmups for creative writing to get the imagination going. As soon as Bob Jones started doing the exercise of imagining how the bread smelt, looked, felt etc., I recognized what he was doing (possibly unintentionally). What wanders through your mind at that point is nothing more than imagination. It's not wrong to imagine heaven, etc., as long as you realize that it is just that: your human imagination. It's not what heaven's really like (it's going to be even better than we can imagine; 1 Corinthians 2:9).

Will be praying for these people, and praying that some elders/pastors / people of the church will start standing up anf testing these things. There is a large church in my community that follows bethel in the way they teach, I am afraid they are drifting more and more toward these expierience based encounters/ visions/dreams. I see alot of my old friends drifting toward these activities/ seeking them out continually. One thing you can do is direct them to individuals who do know about the Bible and biblical teaching.

And I’m encouraged to see it, because I know how charismatics tend to be. They only listen to other charismatics, or at least it’s that way with my family. The thing is, though, you gotta go deeper and wider than just these three. Jones is dead, Bentley is scandalized, and Kerr’s likely soon to be marginalized and discredited for all her Trump madness, or at least we hope and pray she is. Believe it or not, my wife and I have had folks on both sides of our families fall for her that don’t even know each other. “Well, she preached the gospel.” That’s what I was told last time I brought her name up to a very dear family member that went down to see her couple of years ago. I'm having a hard time believing that this is actually spiritual deceit as opposed to just making this stuff up for whatever reason, attention, money, a platform? Especially the last one. It just seems like when kids tell you a story. The first one, is a little more deceptive to people because they thirst for these experiences. I was in that environment for a while and truly desired more of God and this was the way I was supposed to have it. But no matter how much I prayed, confessed, and sought out, I never received these experiences. I used to wonder what was wrong with me and more painfully, rejected by God the Father. I felt passed over and it lead to doubts in the faith. Thankfully, I never gave up on seeking out the truth and that's because God never let go of me. I don't have how the Holy Spirit works all neatly tied up in a neatly packaged box. Unfortunately, I am more skeptical than ever. However, I see how all those times that I didn't have those "experiences" I see how God was protecting me from false spirits and/or doctrine. For that, I am thankful. Please keep these coming because I am listening and as well as being well versed in the Bible on these things to that I may think and believe on these rightly. Hope that makes sense. As the founder of the Assemblies of God churches in Brazil once said, while prophecy is given by God for edification, our only foundation for doctrine should be the Scriptures, and Scriptures alone, not prophecies, dreams or visions... I believe this is why we have been seeing so much 'weirdness' among many Charismatic circles nowadays: many have been neglecting the Bible as the foundation for doctrine and turned towards supernatural experiences for that... and, sadly, that is the result

It's always the same story: The scripituralists vs. the spiritualists. When the biblical prophecies were given they were received by the religious intelligentsia in the same manner as it is today, with sheer suspicion. It says: But covet earnestly the best gifts, but seldom anyone says how to do it. And when somebody starts doing it then they must be wrong, because it is God that has to initiate everything. Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:
And he became very hungry, and would have eaten: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance... and

Scripture only shows that happening to Peter on one occasion--it wasn't a daily occurrence. John was given specific words to the 7 churches and other things that believers need to know about things happening in heaven (worship) and things to come.
I question the people who have prophecies everyday and dreams with meaning all the time. They make their living at this. I've had about 2 or 3 dreams in my lifetime that had personal meaning to me (I'm 74) and great impact in my life. I;ve received prophecy on a few occasions or words of knowledge. I've given words of wisdom to people. It doesn't happen all the time.
I am in the continuation camp, and have big concern about so much that is going on today that gets people worked up emotionally but brings forth little fruit in lives. Also scripture tells us to discern and judge the words coming forth.

@@joycelint6652 I understand. I agree with you my dear sister. Now, in my humble opinion, the Bible only registers those occasions that were of vital importance in the development of God's plan of redemption, like when the Gospel was going to be shared for the first time with the Gentiles. Regarding this point, these scripture is of vital importance: And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. The same applies for all the apostoles and all the men and women of God that walk in the manifestation of the Kingdom of God and see the miraculous in a regular manner. But having said this, we have to judge every manifestation through the Word of God and test the spirits, to see if they are from the Lord. In that regard, this scripture is of vital importance: And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries? And... Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.” Peace!

I grew up in Brazilian Charismatic Movement, it has gotten worse over the years to the point they are not teaching Bible. I left 12 years ago. But still extremely dominant in churches around me. What makes things worse, because it's a culture of have and have nots. Jealousy within the leadership, it's always leading to fights and division. So church breaks up every 5-7 years. If they are not popular enough, they end up returning to the church, they ones were part of. If they do become popular, they are rivals to each other. It's so bizarre. They ban Theology studies outside of the church. There is a weird angel worship..... I can go on and on about all things I have seen....

He even wrote a book of it's secrets revealed to him. He wasnt taken seriously by the other Pastors of the church. But his book was available to the church for years. Didn't matter because he would preach everything, when ever he could. This was around the time I left, about 4 years ago. He had a stroke, survived. But even being bedded and recovering. He wouldn't let go of the position of President Pastor. Church when into dept, so they tried to sale a few campuses. But the Pastors of those campuses wouldn't agree. I wonder if some of these people claiming to have "gone to heaven" etc may just be very business savvy, seen a gap in the market, & are milking it for all it's worth, maybe recognizing that people are so undiscerning. Laughing all the way to the bank.
Their fans laugh along with them, unaware that they're being fleeced. This might be a spiritual warfare we never imagined would happen right in the Church. But good to know it's not happening everywhere, and that there are genuine, safe, caring and responsible pastors and elders 🙏

This was so good to watch, but really heartbreaking to get through. I came out of the new age little over two years ago when I came across historical context for the Bible and the resurrection, but I am from the NAR movement pretty deep prior to my new age experiences. I fully believe that the way we practiced our spirituality in our NAR movement set me up perfectly to practice New Age later, because it truly felt no different than I thought I was being prepared for this new revelation. It is hard to put into words when I look back at the mess of the Hyper charismatic teachings. I reached out to a few of my old leaders and have gotten no response but I’m sure I need to keep practicing how to discuss this in a biblical way, it can seem so so confusing to confront this biblically to some of these people!

Read all of the book of acts, problem with the evangelical christian is they let jesus in their heart but never started speaking in tongues or started prophesying through prophetic utterance or have the experienced the full manifestations of the holyghost.

This is the reason why the John MacArthurs of the Christian faith go to the complete opposite end of the supernatural spectrum. And while that’s not good either, it’s understandable when you see these “prophets” using the gifts of the Spirit for personal gain. And yes, they’re making a killing doing it and they will answer to God. If they are in fact seeing these ridiculous visions, it’s not from God but from something demonic. I think it’s important for shows like this, who take scripture seriously, to act as Bereans defending the gifts of the Spirit yet exposing the abuse of them.

Love your story about the angel of darkness. It's great to see you being balanced with the practices of these people. I agree that we cannot judge their final destination of Heaven or Hell. But I hope you'll understand why channels like mine also also focus on the others like Bill Johnson, Che Ahn, Todd White, Kenneth Copeland, Benny Hinnn and the rest that endorse and support the same people you mentioned today. I don't believe a true servant of Christ could be sooooo blinded as to fellowship and promote people like this. Blessings Josh.

About Kat Kerr's vision: I think the lady has watched too much kids' TV, which is oftentimes of the spirit from below.
Almost every thing she described, reminded me of something I have seen on the rectangular screen or read in a fantasy book.
The visions described by prophets in the Bible are of something that had not been seen before on the earth. For example, the cherubim/seraphim.
    Cows on tractors?
I personally believe there will be animals in heaven. After all, it says that the wolf will lie down with the lamb and the lion will eat grass like an ox, and a child will lead them. - That actually sounds much more exciting to me than painting eggs with the help of giant rabbits. I think this lady is deceived.

I agree processing in community is ideal - and the concept of bringing such to your pastor or church is on one level ideal, but I’ve also been in community where dream interpretation and receiving messages from God in dreams was frowned upon. That was a bit painful, but in the end it helped me to find brothers that valued the ways God speaks.

I mostly see what you are saying here is an accurate evaluation. The only thing I have an issue with in this critique is the interchange of "God's Word" being scripture. "God's Word" is Jesus. I would say that the authority given us would be through Jesus, not scripture, but it also would not contradict scripture.

My problem with Bethel still selling this book and keeping the teaching videos online is that it is like Old Teatament Israel having a “divided heart” by having Tabernacle/Temple worship while also sacrificing & worshipping idols at the “high places” and at the “Asherah poles” (“groves” in NKJV). They refused to completely “clean up their act.” This lack of discernment (seems to happen in several different ways over the lifetime of the church while under Bill Johnson) and UNWILLINGNESS to remove demonic teachings reveals a mixture that is possibly evidence of a leaven that leaven’s the whole loaf. Yes, stand against those who are clothed as shepherds but lead the sheep into damnable, demonic, enslaving error. I think Jesus called such persons “wolves.”
And definitely, no “restoration process” should have the end goal of restoration to ministry, i.e. having the care responsibilities of the church, except in some situations which would most likely be few in number.
