  • In this video, I'm going to compare the Canon Selphy and the HP Sprocket.
    For me and what I'll be using it for, the Selphy is definitely a better deal and the photo quality is excellent!
    I do have both linked down below if you want to check them out and in the video I said that the HP Sprocket was no longer available for $79 and after some digging, I found it for that price again (not worth more in my opinion but if you think the quality is great and want to try it, give it a go! :))

    The ink tank system appears to be much better than the cartridge system czcams.com/users/postUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 and a lot cheaper to run. The machine was easy to set up. A small point but I thought they'd be a USB cable included to help with the set up but there was none. I've been using it now for a few weeks and it seems like a good product and superior to my previous printers which were all troublesome HP machines.

    Nice video, but to be frank I don't normally put comments but felt need as as it seems when people (Your viewers/audience) give you feedback you seem to criticise them that they are picky or saying they can be compared because of your audience. You should be providing them with more informative buying choices, I own both and purchased a Sprocket before I saw your video but still wouldn't change my mind as they are for different purposes and quality. As some mentioned you're comparing APPLES vs ORANGES here, the Selphy is a dye-sub which produces professional quality where as the Sprocket produces ZERO INK (Z-INK) photos that provide par quality. So you should even update your comments or redo the video about the printers and their purposes. I use the Sprocket more daily journals or where I don't need HQ photos and use the Selphy when it's a photo that I want to ensure I retain blah blah. But just advice is that you shouldnt be defensive and be accepting to the criticism as it will give more info to your viewers. Don't assume....

    I bought the Sprocket first. What I like about it: travels well, doesn’t have to be plugged in to use, prints fast, fun app that can print collages and sticker backed paper. What is disappointing is: the colours can be dreadfully off-many have a very blue tone and I can’t print a 2x2 photo which is needed if you buy Stop The Blur kits from Heidi Swapp. I’ll be buying the Canon Selphy.

    the blue paper on the HP is not the ink. that is for calibrating the picture quality. i do like both of them, it really depends on how u want ur picture to be, Canon for quality photo and it will last a long time, waterproof, smudgeproof paper, but it needs power or plugging in while using it. on the otherhand, the HP is for on the go that doesnt need to plug it in when printing.. so it reallt depends on how, what u will use it. NICE review though, i finished ir vid. very well said.

    Selphy seems better in many ways. If they made sticker backed photo paper then it would 100% blow sprocket out the water. The sprockets downside is just as you mentioned. I have managed to play around with it to get the color quality better but it's a constant guesswork process and it's ANNOYING to have to even do that. Can you customize a photo collage?

      You can customize a photo collage- I didn't play around with that option in the video but in the Selphy app, there's the "shuffle layout" option and the "combination layout" option. You could also download a collage maker app, resize it to fit the paper in the Selphy and then print it from your photos. :)

    @ssschatje Před 3 lety +6

    Your comparing 2 different ways of printing. The sprocket is zink paper. That means that it uses heat on the photopaper to bring out the picture. Different heat brings a different colour up but it does not focus on a coulour a time like the selphy does. The ink is in the photopaper and not on the calibration sheet (blue paper). The selphy is concentrating en focusing on all different layers and colours because it uses one colour a time (first yellow, then red, last blue)

    • @AshleyAnderson
      @AshleyAnderson  Před 3 lety +3

      Either way, the quality vs price isn't worth it to me. Most people, like me, are not sure how it works...we're focusing on the quality and I understand that how it works plays a role in that but when they're both that close in price, the Selphy blows it out of the water.
      Thanks for letting me know how it works though! I didn't understand that blue sheet (I even said that in the video lol)

  • @somps
    @somps Před 2 lety

    LoL. The blue card isn't ink. It's for calibration. Also, They give away the printer cause its a one time buy. They make more money off of you by you buying the ink and paper every time. In your other video, the pocket had the truer color, so by all of this, the sprocket seems to be the better buy, depending on size criteria.

  • @augustinasdoesarchitecture3900

    This is not comparable, to be honest. The photo sizes are different. The purpose is different. The method of printing is different. Sprocket is a quick, portable, small photo printer for family gatherings, friend selfies, etc. The Canon is really a desktop printer, that is nowhere to be carried. It's bulkuly, fat, and prints standard size photos.
    This is really an unfair and I feel like a bit biased comparison. Thanks for the insights tho.

  • @jynclr
    @jynclr Před 3 lety +2

    That blue card is not ink. It's color calibration for the printer and that specific paper pack. Zink paper uses heat to print. The "Z" in "zink" means "Zero," "Zink" = "Zero Ink."
