In an emergency a person that hasn’t mentally and emotionally prepared often freezes. Going into surgery a doctor will have time to prepare. At the same time when an accident occurs, as in this story, a person hasn’t prepared.
In a different area of expertise an instructor taught a color system of mental preparation.
White, totally relaxed and no watching your environment.
Yellow, knowing trouble may occur.
Orange, evaluating everything around for danger.
Red, focusing on identified danger.
(I realize I am not explaining this correctly.)
Jessica appears to be in condition White and is struggling to jump to condition Red.
When the ten were selected for the overseas training, John wasn't chosen. How was he then included when they finally left for the training? If he replaced Jessica, when did it happen? Who selected him over another doctor?
Another question concerns the authority Jessica thought she had to tell Emily what to do? No doctor in Jessica's position had any authority to tell another person they could or could not be where the person was going. Why the person was there is none of Jessica's business.
Do they have a daughter and a son or two sons? Does anyone proofread this stuff?
