Great review. I appreciate the time you took on this video I haven’t seen a ton of coverage for this omnibus 👏

Hi, Mike. This was an interesting video to me. I am a fan of Black Panther. The 1st Black Panther comics I read was the Christopher Priest stuff. Then, I read "Black Panther: Who Is the Black Panther?" by Reginald Hudlin & JRJR. And the last Black Panther stuff I read was when he took over as The Man Without Fear(can't recall all of the creators/writers/artists- but I know the 1st volume was drawn by Francesco Francavilla). I can say, w/out hesitation, that I really enjoyed those stories. I don't have them anymore(sometimes you gotta sell stuff you'd like to keep because you've gotta be able to afford the necessities of life- like your medication, for ex.; but I did really like them, & still love the character, even though I haven't read anything recent). Thanx for sharing your views on this omni, brother. Hope you & Matt & your fams are all staying safe & feeling healthy.😊👍🏻👍🏻❤

I haven't read much of this stuff, but I'm a sucker for Silver and Bronze Age comics, so I ordered it. According to OPB, it's on the way!

This was the Black Panther I grew up with. I read these through My boyhood & teenage years. Those issues are long gone so this is a must buy. I loved Don McGregor's writing as well as Billy Graham & Rich Buckler's art. That arc was like a novel. I hated to see it end.
Don McGregor was often asked to write Black characters. Luke Cage & War of The Worlds series are good examples as are his Sabre & Detectives Inc.. He said in an interview he could do so because when he first came to New York he had no place to stay because Marvel payed so little. Billy Graham took him in & allowed him to share his apartment in Harlem & he got to know Black people there for who they were. People. And he always approached his characters that way which is why they never sound like they're in a Blaxploitation movie.

I always get the dm variants but it was really hard to pass up that standard cover

It’s beautiful! Being Canadian means DM variants are just something I can admire from afar, until I’m lucky enough to justify a haul from OrganicPricedBooks

It's nice to see someone be able to distinguish between writing that is needlessly verbose with superfluous captions and writing that is verbose but actually enhances the art by getting into the characters heads and describing sounds, and smells and creating an atmosphere. I really wish Marvel had just done a Don McGregor Omni with the Jungle Action, Marvel Comics Presents, and Panther's Prey stuff and maybe just had the early appearances bundled with the Kirby series or something. Priest's Panther was the first one I read back when they were coming out, but I might actually prefer McGregor's novelistic approach...Morrison actually references this run as an influence, but I remember an interview (Fatman on Batman?) where he references the scene of the bird dying in sludge and when I finally read "Panther's Rage" I got what he was talking about.

I thought about skipping this Omnibus because I got tired of reading the type of superheroics from the 70s, i usulally grab an origin Omnibus only if i know its historically relevant, but... after hearing that passion for this book, now it s a must buy.

This omni or Coates’ BP omni? I’m leaning towards this
