    for some people a 250 fits their body type much better and allows them to take advantage of the ninja 250's nimble handling. There are smaller bikes with higher displacement though they still weigh significantly more. I personally am too tall for a ninja 250 but to each their own.

  • @Vince62965
    @Vince62965 Před 12 lety +9

    65-70 hp would be amazing on this bike, that would mean it would be making more than 1/3 the power of bikes with 4x its own cc range. Also you have to take in to consideration the power to weight ratio on these bikes, This 250 weigh's only a 170KG stock so 1 litre bikes weigh about 200+ KG so there is a big difference when getting more horses out of such a light weight bike. You would only have to change the sprockets and you could gain alot more higher top end out of it.

    hahaha ^^ sure there are... every big japanese brand had one back in the 90's... look for honda cbr 250rr - i think it was the best of them all - and it made 45hp at around 18'000rpm, without turbo of course!

    • @alexwhite1501
      @alexwhite1501 Před 5 lety

      I've got a cbr250rr 1991 and yeah new it would have made 45hp and go 200kph at 19.5k rpm although it spikes HP at somewhere near 15-16k rpm. I want to turbo it but the small cylinders would have a hard time compared to this which is either a 1 or 2 cylinder. And the availability for parts for the ninja will a lot more than for an old CBR 250rr

    Here in Indonesia we mod our 250's because there's a tax on bikes with a larger than 250cc capacity, big bikes cost, on average, 2.5-3 times more than they would abroad. They're not even on regular sale here, you'd have to order one through grey import or through the Harley Davidson dealer, which is the only big bike sold regularly here (of which the cheap ones cost you $60.000.-) . In short, if we can tune our 250's, we do it

  • @kribar96
    @kribar96 Před 11 lety +1

    it's about about 26 hp stock, but with a performence exhaust, air filter etc it has about 30hp + a turbo that makes the number double on a normal engine means that it's 60 hp like on this 250cc engine.

  • @unit764
    @unit764 Před 11 lety +2

    best 250 ever, it screamed to a 19,000 rpm redline (there were two versions I think one may have been a lower redline but the one I know/want is 19k) unfortunately the only way to get it in the US is to import it via gray market from japan. you can get it cheaper from australia but the ones in australia have generally been thrashed to hell already. someday I'll own one and turbo that...45hp pre turbo/other performance mods :)

    • @oliverscorsim
      @oliverscorsim Před 5 lety

      +Jeff and the Quest It's cheaper than anyother little bike but still around 1k if you do your own labor but you can get more than this out of it. you can make 80whp all day and not open the motor although some studs wouldn't be a bad idea. really the weak link in the ex250 motor is the crank and they don't go unless one or more of two conditions outside of problems and that is don't rev pass 16k and don't make more than 110ftlbs then it won't snap at the timing gear. but turbo easy 100 efi depends on what you want but ecotrons is around 500 and your gonna want to swap out some extra cheap parts or microsquirt much nicer but alltogether your gonna be closer to 650. and pluming well go but a heatgun and some pvc and get to it. make sure you give your self at least 3 times displacement of plenum and youl make thins power at less rpm and 7-8psi on a rhb32/31. and more like 80whp at 18ish but then heat is a thing and you might want to look into meth injection instead of an air to air like they have here. very cheap to make preturbo and it keeps my Frankenstein cool at 25psi with 14:1cr and air oil cooling given I built the engine for it but still my head temps are hotter when I let it idle for along time. then it might get to 280 but as soon as I get some boosting in it drops to low 200s.

  • @butwait
    @butwait Před 13 lety

    A yamaha TZR 250 2 stroke, which has 50hp stock, would do between 170-180km/h, the race version of this bike which produces about 60hp does 190-200km/h
    So that's an indication of how fast the Ninja 250r turbo will go, keep in mind the TZR250 is 20kg's lighter. And wont explode, eventually.

    @Vince62965 Před 12 lety

    @killbillkrishna well it does and it doesn't, a standard version of this bike struggles to get to the red line point in 6th gear but with all this extra torque and power it will be able to red line straight through the rpm's & gain an extra 1k rpm and gain about 10mph top end with standard gearing but i'm not sure how the internals of the bike would deal with that its possible with riding like that the insides would start to break down so the only option really would be to change the sprockets

  • @manenkoff
    @manenkoff Před 13 lety

    @blakecot This is what I was told by people over there as to why they do so many mods to 250's. On the ninjette.org forums we have people from over there and according to them it's just cheaper to mod a 250 and do turbo's then to get a 600+cc bike because of the taxes on them.

  • @butwait
    @butwait Před 13 lety

    @arizotje ....This is a serious question..? ...would you like me to draw you a picture? the bikes I mention have the same hp ratio, therefore the comparison is accurate, the only difference being that the 2 stroke has that power stock and will thus have longer gears to accompany the power, but who cares if its 2 stroke or 4 stroke, that's entirely beyond the point.

  • @hallkbrdz
    @hallkbrdz Před 5 lety

    I like the idea. Turbo 250 on e85, since the displacement limit for karting is 250cc (insurance), and e85 will help it run cooler.

  • @chirkoo
    @chirkoo Před 12 lety

    well some states simply limit the cc such as WA, however others also restrict on a power to weight basis, such that someone could ride a gold wing, but not a cbr400..kinda weird but i guess it works. Also the power to weight ratio is done on the stock bike stats, so this still would be fine

  • @manenkoff
    @manenkoff Před 13 lety

    @fifielcoolio Because in alot of Asian countries they have such high taxes on bikes over a certain CC that this is cheaper. In places like Indonesia where this was done, you might have to pay close to $20k or more just to get a 600cc bike. So over there you will find that the Ninja 250 is actually king of the streets. They mod the ever living crap out of them and come up with things like this 58hp beauty that many of us in the USA would love to have.

If your wasting money on little 250's get a 2stroke or a high revving 1989 cbr250 zxr250 gsx250r or fzr250.. 89 was before restrictions where put in place so they all made 45hp from 14,5-16k rpm depending on the bike. 50hp would require a 4 cyl like the bikes i described being revved at over 17k rpm with a cam way to peaky and harsh (no pull below 10k rpm) and higher compression. And of course exhaust/rejet.
