咁你都係去咗一年時間。要在一個新地方居住生活，有好多事係要刻服的，完全融入真係需要十年八載。你教書時應該有有遇到啲新移民學生，同喺華人社會，大陸移居香港都係有好多困難，更何況去外國。
好欣賞你分享真實嘅一面，讓人了解多方面，無論好同壞都可作參考。另一方面，你講得好啱，服務業真係唔洗讀，肯做肯學同態度先最緊要。做開老師，轉服務業其實好困難，因為服務業工作個種心態同性格，老師好少會有。相反佢哋個份自傲同「下下教人」嘅性格，係從事服務業時往往係一個阻礙。
點都好啦，人生係好奇怪嘅，「路唔轉，人轉」。經歷過，多年後再回首，你會發覺原來都不是太難，一切好的，壞的，都係造成未來嘅你嘅一份肥料。

你拍片開始我就有睇，我有時見到你都有少少兜路。其實好多事都需要時間，而且需要自己主動。其實係路上見到香港人，明明係車度去緊同一個方向，但就係會避開眼神同埋唔會問侯幾句，好似好驚其他香港人睇出自己過得唔好。北美地區同台灣都相對係同情弱者嘅社會，但追求金錢地位的香港人就唔習慣自己處於弱勢。每個人都有困難時期，處於弱勢時唔代表自己唔夠堅強，只係人生一個必經階段。反而大家都要開心見成啲，唔好自尋煩惱。
你講既依種心態真係好似有又唔知點具體講出來....
好同意你講加拿大真係比較同情弱者社會，例如係巴士/其他服務業都會要求客人不能對服務員無禮對待/講侮辱性說話，否則會被驅趕，有法理保障。係香港好多人習慣對服務員呼喝，沒禮貌。我都見到/聽過香港人來到仗勢欺人。
你作為老師做教育，睇到報紙因為升支「奇」都要停課三日同即時離開學校。我諗你真係無咩野需要後悔，因為你好幸運幸福地可以離開重新開始你嘅人生。同埋唔好成日諗住以前同比較香港嘅收入同資歷。由低最起，兩三年發展好可能人工係你以前嘅雙倍或者更多。要感恩自己有覺醒嘅能力，更加感恩自己有離開嘅條件。人生重來都唔簡單，但你衝破左之後就會發現明天更美好。
有時見到而家啲課程改到變曬樣都覺得幸好選擇離開
Hi Annette, I hear you. My two cents: It's a process, and there's always something to learn. This is not to trivialize the difficulties one goes through in the process. Your reflections and willingness to share the lessons learnt will no doubt help some people, especially those in the process of planning and decision making. You're so kind to encourage those out there who maybe in similar situation. It's never too late to change course in life, especially here in N America. You'll be a stronger person, and possibly an even more empathetic person when you eventually get on to smoother paths and succeed in achieving some if not all of your goals. Don't forget to try and enjoy along the way the little things you come across daily and the people around you. Be kind and forgiving to yourself as you would to others. Cheers. God bless.
我兩個城市都住了很多年，所以我都很明白及了解你的心情。我覺得在香港讀文學及成為教師的朋友，如果他們選修一些商科，便會容易搵工得多。其實論真是是吸收了多倫多很多工呢，我公司便把幾百個職位，轉來倫敦市。我有很多同事都是在多倫多找不到工作，最後來倫敦市找到。你讀完了 Hospitality ， 是一個很好的開始，我鼓勵你修讀一些上方或會計的課程，因為人才需要是很多的。請繼續努力啊🎉

看過你的影片之後， 我很感謝你可以這樣坦白的分享你的感受。 你現在面臨到的情況和你是不是從香港過來的關係不大，在這裹長大讀書的年青人也是面對著和你差不多的情況，祇是他們沒有以前的成功來比較现在的情況。 理解你是讀文科及英國文學的，除了在教學，寫作或者是研究之外，在其他行業沒有太多的實用價值。 其實生活也不祇是工作一樣，也可有其他層面上東西，如果你的目標是要找一個穩定而收入不錯的工作，我建議你可以去考取一個物業管理或者是物業估價的文憑，這些都是社區學院𥚃面就業率很高的學科。 正常的課程是兩年，濃縮課程一年就畢業，也可以一邊工作一邊讀，不過就會辛苦一點。 或者找一個愛惜你的男朋友，生活會開心很多。

你講既最尾嗰part好有共鳴。我上年11月尾同我partner同埋隻狗嚟到溫哥華，12月尾搵到工作，當然加拿大工作收入係同香港收入相差一大截，當時望住自己戶口帶去既錢愈嚟愈少，賺到既都用哂去交租同日常支出，每月只係儲得幾百蚊，真係好崩潰。當初成日喊住打番香港搵媽咪😂😂但我好記得我媽咪話，你響外國自己生活，最緊要有地方住，日日有野食就已經好好，養到自己就可以。
好坦白，我無學歷，會考5分都無，想響呢邊讀書真係好難，所以搵到既工唔會人工高得去邊。不過其實只要調整到自己心態，簡單生活，其實響溫哥華都可以過得好開心
我嚟加拿大第一晚都係喊住打返香港搵阿媽🤣

不過想升上去 讀一般business management course好似更好

Cities like London, Hamilton, Waterloo, Kingston, Windsor are all full of international students, it all depends on the individual's personal experience, and what is your major.
Not everyone is good enough for U of T.
To make that comparison is not really fair.

Add oil! I agree that London is rather weak from a job prospect standpoint. Most people I know who lives in London works in Toronto, and will report to the office few times a month. If you want to grow your career in a more traditional “corporate ladder” manner, I think moving closer to GTA may not be a bad idea!

Many local Canadians cannot find a job. Low salaries, high taxes, and high unemployment rates are common in Canada. It is not easy here.
There is one point I agree is the professors usually have more network locally than out of town, but the bright side is they can help the students find their part time job in the local during their school years.
Money is important in the sense that it gives you the choice to quit what you don’t like. Canada is not known for making good money, but the good thing in Canada is that you don’t quite need to work that hard to live a decent life. I find the people who enjoy their lives the most in Canada are those who are chill and easily satisfied with what they have. It’s just my two cents: change your mindset is probably more important than working hard to get what you think you want at the moment. Jobs are just jobs, it provides you the cash flow to live decent life.

Quite true that in Canada, arts and pure science students not easy to find jobs. It is a choice of choosing a major you like or a major to get a job. E g. My son has biology undergrad, bio medical master, no luck to get a job . at the end, has to enroll medical lab major, then now get a decent job at hospital. In short, path is a bit longer, but he feels no regret to spend a bit longer journey.

Not 100% agree with what you said, study hospitality in the college would prepare you to get in the field , have a more competitive position than others without college training and with a degree also help for later job advancement in the field.

Canada is a small pond compared to USA. Hospitality is not one of the qualified occupations under USMCA agreement. Hotel manager is. Hotel manager requires a Bachelor degree in restaurant/hotel management; or a certificate/diploma with 3 years of working experience in restaurant/hotel management. For Canadians with "qualified" occupations, they can work in USA using TN-1 visa under USMCA agreement. TN-1 visa is a 3-yr, non-immigration, renewable visa. You can obtain TN-1 visa at US-Canada border by paying about $60, along with US job offer and education & experience credential.
never too late to change course … there are more job opportunities in Toronto but you have to accept a big pay cut if you have worked in HK for over 3 years. Add oil la 💪🙏

佢早期工作係電台記者, 緊著做電台時事節目, 民生議題., 當然一地有參與好多公益事務
所以都係從基礎做起, 幾十年後佢成為加拿大總督. 當時一個少少嘅记者時事评論員, 点想到幾十年後成為 Governor General of Canada
其實我哋巳比好多人幸福, 最近係多倫多遇到好多烏克蘭人佢地比我哋更艱辛,珍惜而家擁有既野同活在當下😊加油

好多人都說在加拿大賺的遠比香港人工少一截，但多了自由、準時收工、多了陪伴家人/自己的時間，這些都不是人工可替代的。

Set your career goal and work towards it. Please do not waste your time and money on studies which do not yield professional recognition. If you like teaching, please contact the associations how to become a qualified teacher. With your good English background, you might work towards a law, sociology, degree etc. Thanks for your update, and good luck.

我響香港讀social science嘅，之前響多倫多讀college，都花咗好多時間揾工，好彩我間college有搞career fair幫我揾到份銀行工。而家望返轉頭我有D後悔讀college果陣冇揀financial planning黎讀，因為個programme會幫助你考埋個CSC，而有CSC的話響加拿大揾銀行工其實唔係咁難。如果之前響香港讀文科或者非專業科嘅話，又唔怕計少少數嘅話，financial planning嘅graduate cert課程真係stream A首選

I think you know the reason why you choose studying in London instead of Toronto. What is your reason to choose London instead of Toronto?
Back then I thought I wanted to live in a smaller city.
I immigrated to Canada with my family when I was a teenager... eventually got my BASc from UofT, and I've worked for quite a number of HiTech companies in the GTA.
I guess it's good to really ask yourself why you left HK - are you going with the trend as "everyone" is leaving, or you wanted to run away from the CCP because of its bad reputation. During our emigration wave, everyone was scared of Jun 4, but in the end 1997 came and went, and most of my UofT classmates left Canada after graduation (that's in the early 2000s), some went back to Hong Kong, and some went to the US - only a small portion of my graduating class are still in Canada.
I think quite a lot of people in this current emigration wave will go back to Hong Kong in a few years' time -- if you guys are leaving because of the 反送中 movement, I guess Jun 4 was way scarier during my time. Also, China was not as developed back then but still a lot of my classmates returned to Hong Kong in the early 2000s.
Many people are immigrating to Canada/other western countries because they think that those countries offer a higher standard of living, offer more freedom, etc... Yet whenever we look at our paystubs, we find that after all the tax/EI/CPP/health premium deductions the real disposable income is not that high (in the end, the long list of people on the Ontario sunshine list feed on our tax dollars - saying hi to the $100K TTC workers!). As for freedom, I guess there is more in Canada but it also comes with more gun violence and other crimes. It's all about tradeoffs and how you value things in life.
During my time, air tickets were way more expensive, the Internet was not widespread and we did not research enough the tradeoffs and just immigrated to Canada... Nowadays it is way easier and cheaper to go take a serious look first before making up your mind, and really also go visit China and see its development. In terms of the infrastructure, subway systems/high speed trains are very modern. In terms of research, the "nature index" keeps rising. In terms of human rights... err... it's slightly more complicated but it's not as bad as I originally thought! (In the end, if it is as bad as the media portrays, then each year the 100 million Chinese who leave China to visit other countries would all become asylum-seekers.)
In the end, each country has its pros and cons! 😀

Something wierd, 有其它新到加拿大嘅後生講揾工, 不過從來冇人 encourage 其它人搵政府(三级政府)機構各領域工作, 各大学, College.....呢啲機構全部有大量唔同工種.....唔明.
政府工出名薪水高亦有進升機會. 尤期係 Crown (政府)agencies . 你讀文科, maybe this is one area you might want to look into 👍.
点先搵到我唔知, 我只知好多中国人同其他小数簇裔入到去做. 政府請好多 minority groups, because the gov't support multiculturalism.

聽講政府亦有 special program offering temporary employment to those on with visa to stay in Canada, they offer those people opportunity to gain experience working for the Gov't. I don't know if it is true or not, won't loose anything looking into this area.
我都有霖過PR搵政府工（仲未landing），因為我國粵英法quadrilingual，而且就算幾細嘅城市都一定有聯邦政府工做。但係我都係選擇PR後繼續讀書。讀書攞到second bachelor's degree啱好夠鐘申請入籍再搵工，可能仲更加多機會呢。當然如果有政府工接受part-time就最好！

係安省政府每年必定要公報俾市民知👍👍, 有名有姓同乜職位, 一清二楚
人生不如意事 十常八九，不過要記住常念一二，加油。
