"So why are we putting it" "because we have it" needs to be in every episode
How my mom used to make stew.
Her (blink and you miss it) split second *sigh* right before she said that - like all Korean Moms to their annoying sons.
2:42 *watches* ... *slowly takes bowl away* No no you're doing good!
"Mix it with a spoon, gently, gentlyyyyyyyyy"
*Mixes too gently*
Trying to give advice but also to be encouraging is a difficult balance. 😅
truly cooking mama gaming
:D
I see that there's an actual official ProZD with mom playlist that he puts these videos into :D
Sungwon's knife skills are some of the knife skills of all time
It should end with the horn sound from delicious in dungeon, and your mom saying: it's ready.
That’d be fun lol
tsukarimashooooou, tsukarimashooooou
Now that you mention it, the gulf in cooking skill between SungWon and Senshi is rather ironic and hilarious
Kansei ja!
"One tablespoon of garlic" is killing me lol
And we love her for it!
Sungwon’s mom has clearly been training with the blade.
Her son on the other hand…
Okay wait. That is actually a fairly simple recipe. And that looks pretty awesome.
Also, your mom is so delightfully supportive.
I may legit have to try that out. Thank you.
For anyone else wanting to try and make this:
* 3 salmon steaks
* ~5-6 diced green onions
* 1 big ass tablespoon of minced garlic (like literally a cutlery tablespoon)
* 1 cup soy sauce? (Wasn’t 100% certain @prozd halp)
* 1/2 cup granulated sugar
* 1/2 cup chili powder (assuming gochugaru?)
* 1/2 cup water
* 1/4 cup sesame oil
* 1/4 cup mirin
* Mix sauce ingredients w/ spoon
* Soak salmon with sauce evenly on both sides, poke salmon with knife a couple times and marinate for at least 10 mins
* Place salmon on grill/stovetop
* Pour the remaining sauce on top
* Cook @ 450 for 10 mins, flip halfway through
yup soy sauce
Watching Prozd handle a knife was a treat. Great video ❤😂
It was like watching an infant walk for the first time
Damn those salmon cuts look FRESH.
I love the complete lack of glamour or production value.... This is my kind of cooking show 😊😊😊
No knife skills solidarity.
Thank you Mama Cho incredible as always
Honestly your mom is so nice, mine probably would've wrested the knife away from me the second she heard the green onion get squished under it
Watching you cook with your mom really warms my heart. Reminds me of when my boyfriend's mom taught him how to cook shrimp scampi before she passed ❤
The words are saying he's doing good, the actions tell another tale.
You've inspired me to start cooking with my Korean Mama
he's grinding that spring onion to a pulp 😂
I love when he brings on his mom!
Mmm. Pure, unadulterated wholesome. That's the stuff.
Your mom has such a funny vibe about her lol
your mother seems like the kind of person who would have a son who makes really funny sketch videos. sick
"Why are you cutting it like that?!" Honestly, I thought the same thing. Slice, don't press. Let the blade do the work, not your weight.
That salmon looks delicious, though! Excellent job.
Your mother is so sweet and effortlessly funny. I can see where you got your quick wit. You're blessed to have each other! 🌼
These are incredibly wholesome. Another S Rank dish for Mama Cho!
I was curious what this was gonna be, since I don't know about any "Korean-Style" salmon dishes, unless they're raw, like a sushi bowl.
The marinade used in this dish is very similar to what my mom would use for a mild/sweet white fish like tilapia. I'm not sure how it would taste with salmon, since salmon is so unique among fish, but its probably great as long as you use good, fresh salmon steaks/fillets, since fresh salmon also doesn't have much of a fishy flavor. I think fish with fishier tastes like galchi (and also cod for some reason) are more traditionally done with a slightly different marinade containing ginger to cut the fishiness, and braised with Korean white radish medallions because... idk they just taste good and soak up the marinade really well.
This marinade is also essentially the same as the one used in Korean braised tofu (dubu jorim), so if you want a vegan option, you can just sub the fish with tofu and experience pretty much the same dish. *edit, I forgot to mention if you're using tofu, you want to cut it in ~1 cm thick pieces and sear it in a little oil to get a golden crust before adding the sauce mixture.
Also, like Sungwon's mom said, you can cook it just like jeyuk bokkeum, just pan fry it on medium heat until it's cooked through. I will just add a note that the marinade contains added water, which is mainly there to ensure the food has time to cook through before the sugar in the marinade starts burning, since nothing will start to burn until the water has evaporated. Unlike jeyuk bokkeum, you're not looking for any char. You can pretty much just cook it until the marinade looks less soupy and more dry and it should be done. If you're worried it's still undercooked after most of the water is gone (which means your heat was probably too high), then you can just add a little bit more water to give it more time.
thanks for this!
pro tip - don't cut things with a knife like a saw. the knife should be sharp enough that the motion of pushing down slices/chops things. if you're sawing like its wood, you'll make things mushy and your knife or technique sucks xD
Unless it's bread
Unless you’re cutting actual wood, then you do have to saw
unless its serrated, which is made to saw no chop.
Yep, and this is also very important for items like onions, since I think sawing will have them release more juices that make you cry. A sharp knife is also very important for good cutting
No matter how sharp your knife is, if you just "push down" on scallions, you will crush the cell walls and release more bitter compounds than you should. You should push down while sliding the knife in a slicing motion. But agreed that sawing is never really the move, unless it's bread or a thick piece of meat.
Stir, stir, stir your sauce, all up in a bowl. Gentily, gentily, gentily, good job Sungwon Choo!
you cut those onions like a kardashian

Your mom is awesome. i have not had salmon in a long time, but korean style looks delish
Another wholesome moment.
😢😭😭😭👌
the way your mom keeps saying you’re doing good is so wholesome :)
Mama Cho is one of the rare people who won't mock you for now owning an air fryer.
Ah, I wish we got to see you guys do a taste test, and go over the different flavors!
Otherwise, great video, SungWon 👍🏾
So wholesome, what a nice mom.

your mom is the best, anytime i see she is in a video it is an absolute must watch
There's somethingg so fun and sweet about watchingg Sungwon and his mom cook together.
I like the end picture as if it's like "whoops, forgot we were doing a video because the salmon was too tasty" 😂
I'll definitely be trying this! 😋
I loved this, reminds me of cooking with my mum. Very comforting.
Mutual bullying between SungWon and his mom and his wife LMAO we love to see it

Dungeon Senshi ProZD: Professional Cook
Real life ProZD: Not a professional cook
Such impeccable knife skills Mr. Cho 😂
I gotta try this recipe! Looks simple enough
Your interaction is super cute💗
"we have ketchup, should we put that in there too?".... took me out. 😂😂😂
Very wholesome. Plus the dish looks delicious.
Love it. Also, nice looking salmon steaks at the end.
Great video!
I'd love to see a cooking contest between you and your mom lol
The fingers! You're gonna cut off your fingertips holding them like that. Look up how to hold your fingers, but you can think of it like making a claw with your hand.
Looks delicious! I'm gonna have to try this next time I make salmon.
there is just the cooking noise from Zelda Breath of the Wild missing between pressing start and presenting the plate.
Honestly looks great
I see a SungWon and his mom cooking video, I click
I've never appreciated my middle school's home ec class more.
I am once again asking you to tell Mama Cho that if you put a slightly damp paper towel under the cutting board, it will stop sliding around while cutting.
Or a towel!!
Looks delicious :)
Whoa. Looks great.
This looks delicious! :D
i just made salmon for the first time yesterday with lemon garlic butter. def trying this sauce next time!
bro was cutting them green onions like a steak LOL
The thumbnail looks like a high rise apartment night time background haha
Love these videos but please use a lever motion with the very sharp knife. Put the tip on the cutting board, and use it as the fulcrum point. Knife safety is important! Don’t hurt yourself!
Watching you with a knife makes me so nervous for some reason
I'm so here for the momtent.
Fixitman78 has a cooking channel! Wow!
I'm learning so much here
very endearing
I've never seen someone grind a vegetable with a knife before.
Love these videos! MOaR!
looks yummy!!
I can't eat seafood, but my dad would love this.
I would love to see you guys make tteokbokki.
