  • a reflection on life and how the past year has absolutely changed me for the better. at the start of the year, i gave myself a goal to follow my dreams unapologetically for a whole year and even through some major ups and downs, that is what i did. success isn't linear and isn't always a tangible thing, but i came out the other side with a new mindset, personal growth and a confidence in myself. i was able to put myself back on the path i needed to be to follow my dreams.
thank you always for listening and supporting my youtube channel. this is the reason i am able to make my dreams a reality.

Perceived by who? Others opinions shouldn't be the barometer for your happiness. Others do no think of us as often as we imagine. Parents may set their dreams and goals on their children but that is on them. My daughter is 41, my grandson will be 20 this Spring. My daughter remarried two years ago. I've always told my daughter and grandson, I don't care if you marry the garbage man as long as he treats you with love and respect and you are following your dreams and not someone else's.

I just turned 65 and I'm still doing new things and still traveling at will. I've lived in 3 different countries these past 5 yrs and getting ready for another move abroad. People often think they have to pick and stick to one career or home. You can change whenever you want. We evolve several times throughout our lives. Especially women, I've heard every 7-10 yrs we morph and speaking for myself that has certainly been true. Don't look at anything as a wasted time. You may not see it now but later in life you'll see the lesson that experience taught you. For now look at it as possibly simply showing you what you no longer want or need.

I'm a 26 y.o. artist in the Philippines and you just said things that hit home. I've always been asked when I'd settle or get a real job - people around me (then) did not acknowledge that being an artist is a job. A job I love. The pandemic was rough that I ended up working in a company again and promised myself it would be the last because the corporate world just doesn't work well with my mental health and the corporate ladder never enticed me. It wasn't my last corporate job, but the job after that was. Now it's been 7 months since I stopped working in that world and thank God my work in the entertainment industry here in the Philippines is sustaining me now. I will not claim it is stable though but my creativity is finally not blocked. It also got better when my community became a group of people who'd support my dreams and would bring a positive force in my life. Whatever happens to our careers or life in general, I hope we choose happiness and not others' opinions of what is. Rooting for u!

When I was 14 I was told that I was washed up and to go home and plan to try to get into a good college. I just kept going. I needed someone like you to share their story to tell me it would be okay. There seriously wasn’t anyone. I always thought “when I make it, then I’ll tell *my* story and I’ll make some much needed and good impact.” But I haven’t actually made it yet. But man I love what you did with yours. It makes me think.

Thank you. I have an almost identical story. Graduated in '19, started auditioning again last year. Got some callbacks but no jobs. Also didn't get some callbacks. Struggling with ego and what people think of me. Still feel like I'm running out of time. And I recognize that those thought patterns are lies and they're holding me back from growth. But seeing someone with the same struggles who is finding joy and fulfillment in the growth I feel like gave me permission to do the same

"I realized how easy it is to trade in dreams for stability" and "I think I have a bigger fear of being perceived as a failure than the actual act of failing itself" spoke to my core. I'm 23 and moved to the city last summer for Musical Theater and I've definitely felt that struggle of "I could be happy just finding a well paying job" And then immediately thinking, "No I have to perform it's the only thing that really lights me up."

I've always wanted to act, do theatre, film, write, do more art in general and teach at a university level. I ended up deciding one day to move out of my town on my own and start taking theatre lessons, finally. It's been 2 years and my life has changed completely. It's like the path of following one small dream is slowly taking me onto the path of following the others. I'm a lot happier in my job right now because I see it in a completely different light, and I even started doing some things I never imagined in my job. I was always a teacher and now I get paid for teaching theatre to kids and teaching an arts seminar, and my path brought me back to college for a master's degree in arts and writing a project that is closely related to (and would have never happened without) the way finally pulling the trigger and taking acting lessons has changed my whole life.
That thing you've always wanted to do? Just find a way to start from where you are, and try doing it. And stick with it for a while. You might think it's too huge of a change or you have no ideahow to get there. But if you choose a smaller change you can do right now and follow through, you never know where life might take you.

Thanks so much for the inspiring video. I showed it to my mom and you made her smile. My mom is a former Ford Model and ABT ballet dancer turned mom then Bond Broker. Now, for the past year, she is slipping fast into deep dimensia . Smiles are few and far between. So, we show her movies like White Nights for Misha (weirdly I worked with him on a remake of Cabiney of Dr Calagary) and Gregory Hines. But we also show her CZcams dancers and I showed her your video. She was impressed and smiled. She said she wanted us to compliment you as wish you well. Thanks so much for bringing the “think about the sun” light into the day. My mom took me to Pippin and 10 and we both now randomly quote it daily. Thanks for showing us the sun, and smiles and doing the dance. All our days now are patching the roof and pitching the hey. But, you took my mom dancing today. You made her smile. Thanks.
