Those are the real devs of Diablo. I love how Blizzard is giving a blind eye to those legends while Chris literally embrace them, as he should. I have huge respect for those guys and I wish them nothing but the best in their lifes. Those should be the ppl in charge of Diablo IV, not the current circus of endless clowns at Blizzard. PoE will remain N1 ARPG for many moons ahead as long as you respect your roots, and this video is a living proof of that. Bless you, GGG.

PoE is what Diablo 2 was in its prime only it’s free and it keeps getting better.

I love how they treat each other not as competitors, but as an inspiration towards another.
Although they are kinda competing passively for the same audience, they do it hand in hand.
It's great to see this in todays (gaming) world.
Nothing but great people up there.

Competitiveness is what made these games great, and this applies to a lot of things (Don't even get me started with Diablo 4, they didn't even put up a FUCKING FIGHT, seriously I thought they were going to be so innovative or are going to copy other APRGs but HELL FKN NO THEY FUMBLED SO BAD). From rivalries in stories (Naruto and Sasuke, Goku and Vegeta, Deku and Bakugo, hell even Guts and Griffith). A part from competitiveness, I think allowing people to criticize your product or medium, along community feedback, is a healthy way to grow. Being perfect is boring, and knowing that there is always something to improve even after you have achieved what you think you have achieved is what made PoE so great. It's complexity is what made it superior to me, I can't find a single game that is similar to it, and it's what made me fall in love to it (I really want to buy that 500 dollar supporter pack tbh but I need to work for it).
Good example of a company that allowed competitiveness is Valve because they started a lot of things, from Half Life jumpstarting the whole FPS shooter, to Steam's absolutely glorious UI and unbeatable in terms of other game launchers, to Valorant and LOL being a shadow or perhaps a more modified CSGO and Dota, to Dota 2's starting the whole battle pass system, which everyone is using now. Did they beat Valve? I don't think so, Dota 2's International is still flourishing (Idk about the new battlepass though), CS2 just got release and Valve is still fixing a lot of things in it.
The old Diablo devs talking about PoE, ARPGS, and their games are a cherry on top, I love how Chris enjoys their company and embraces their legacy from D2.

@@johnb8132 You expanded my thoughts very well. I agree with every single word you said.
I don't play arpgs anymore, because i already have a job and don't need a second one, lol.
It feels dirty to say in these days, that this game has too much content (for me (!!!)). (I will definately play some PoE2, when it's out, though).
I originally came from D3, before Reaper of sh!t, when i figured, they are not even attempting to fix the itemization, but rather tried to gaslight us into thinking Loot 2.0 would fix it. Then i tried PoE and never looked back.
Therefore i was just quietly observing what they were doing with D4 and it's the same BS. Smelled it from the beginning. The whole thing gave me a whole new perspective on what kind of passion makes a game good, despite of its flaws.
And PoE has quite some flaws as well.
But because of this kind of passion i look back at it as pretty much the best game i ever played.

Say what you want about dialogue in ARPGs, but I will ALWAYS click on the dialogue thing in the Marketplace and listen to the story there. The voice acting for that particular bit of lore is SO good!!!

    • @Biouke
      @Biouke Před 8 měsíci +2

      "Words flay me..." 😱
The etching on woods in the Crossroads are also top tier writing and voice acting.
Environmental storytelling is also pretty good in PoE, small touches like Dominus' room and desk in the Courthouse or the Immortal Syndicate member's rooms in their HQ reflecting each one's personality, the letters of exiles at Lioneye's Watch entry mentioning characters we encounter later (the bandit lords, Hillock... ).
Between well written and delivered monologues and the items flavour text, delving into the lore is a fun and relaxing activity between sessions of frantic carnage.

Oh man oh man, this was such a great watch!
Watching these juggernauts of gaming introduce themselves and hearing them share their opinions and experiences was amazing~
One of my childhood favorite games was a mmorpg called Ragnarok online. And what I loved about that game the most was the ability to buy items that made my character look amazing & sometimes also enhancing the gameplay (looks cool + gives me stat bonuses). For the iRO players, Top, Mid, Lower gear sets, auras and pets etc... all the costumes and accessories. It was also pretty difficult to farm the currency in that game so when you were able to save up or trade for an item you wanted, it was extremely satisfying as well as sometimes a huge powerspike.
I would love to see that in future there is a system where you can work towards building/collecting a certain set in order to unlock bonus stats or looks. I was always obsessed with collecting a full set of armor and getting that look or bonus stats.
Thank you to everyone here who has been a part of the games of my childhood as well as the ones i enjoy now :)
    Much love!

For me the lore question is answered as follows:
I LOVE diving into your Lore if I have to find it. Sure, you can give me hints throughout the game. But I really really really don't care about a shitload of monologue/dialogue/whateverlogue during gameplay. most importantly: Outside of towns no one should ever interrupt me with speech. You can have your npcs babble on but that should never interrupt gameplay. I should never have to wait or click during that babbling and when I the sound off I shouldn't miss out on anything (but lore).
Most importantly: During bosses/endgame content. Animations and dailogue KILL replayability. Sure, it looks good the first 3 times you see it. On run 100 you really had enaugh

100% about David take on TRADE, more you let to the market less you leave to the game, instead of a ARPG you enden up in a MarketGame and SSF point of view in Poe isnt the solution cuase is a total deny on fun buidls cuase those "item you need" will be never get drop, never (watchers eye, Frobbiden duo jewls and soo on)
