Always enjoy learning new tools which further my build projects. Whilst I think making control panels is a great use for a this for van related projects. what other van related projects do you think could be made with a laser?
Ooh, that looks fun! So many possibilities, but I think that I'd definitely have to go all Bond villain by putting an Action Man in a tux, then try to slice him in half lengthways! 😂 Just got to work on my dodgy Russian accent: "I've been expecting you, Meester Bond." 🙃
Thank you very much. I look forward to it as well. Videos like this might not always be the most interesting for some people but an opportunity for me to gain quite a expensive new asset and to help further some of the things I create in the future.
Very interesting tool - great idea for control panels as they (well certainly ones I’ve done) never seem to look professionally finished where as the one you made looked really good. Impressed with the cutting depth. All the best, David 👍
Wouldn’t really be easy to do because the enclosure has a sensor to tell you’ve got it open or not, which automatically stops the machine, and then there is a cover which is covering the laser itself
Nice one that’s cool. I have a x-tool pro laser engraver also done a cover for my control panel but just with wood and few other bits for the van like coat hanger and trim on slide door
brilliant piece of kit ,now you are no longer tied to buying things off the shelf and can design so many cool things to take your van to the next level brackets for light bars as you want them not how manufacturers make them to keep cost down ,very impressive
Definitely 3-D printing and laser cutting is great for prototyping or creating finish products which either don’t exist or have to be ordered specially but are relatively simple overall
Looks a very good gizmo. I have a self assembled OpenBuilds laser cutter and CNC combo, but it's far from that. Good enough for small projects, though.
It certainly does. At the moment, just waiting for a AWD transit to pop up. Definitely could do, it’s a tool I’m enjoying learning how to use and seeing the potential for things I can create
I currently don’t have any. I think the my first year I had a few hundred printed to give away but I haven’t had a second set printed although I do wish to create a new logo

The black panel came out great!
Yeah I was definitely happy with it!
New van build 😊😊😊😊 cant wait for that Alex 🙌🏻🙌🏻👍🏻🙌🏻👍🏻
Can’t wait for the new van build myself!
Such a cool tool to have. Agree that it's not necessary, but it would give a great finish to certain parts on the build. Thanks Alex.
I love my laser - best thing I’ve got, even beats my 3d printer ! Making boxes is brilliant!
Impressive, can’t wait for you to use this bit of kit in your new van build. Great video 👍

Any Tech videos like this are helpful Alex. Especially when it shows how and what the capabilities are when planning van builds.

Grab some 3mm acrylic sheet in matte black. It creates really awesome switch panels. ;)
I’ll look into it
Would love to see the thermal camera 😊

brushed aluminium would look cool
OOHHHH, they have smaller and cheaper models as well. Nice.
So does new van build imply new van? Also you should definitely offer limited edition beer coasters made by this!
It certainly does. At the moment, just waiting for a AWD transit to pop up.

How Smokey is "a bit smoky" ?
Could it be used in a house without an extractor ?
It’s comes with a long extendable ducting to go over the fan ports. so yes if you can run the ducting out a window.
