I think marrying him would've weakened her character. It doesn't seem like the Hae-In thing to do. Her character is written to be so strong and fierce just a formidable force. She only has one weakness and that's Hyun-Woo.

They have sneakily bypassed every cliched troupe so far. It has been nice. I love the epilogues like in Doona, which I was my favourites of last year, obscure ending and all.

Hyunwoo is doing too much that we, the audience, started to forget how competent and capable Haein is on her own. If they were more transparent with each other, they could've made better solutions. i love this drama.

Both leading characters are on the opposite ends of emotional spectrum. He wears his emotions on his sleeves while even her eyes are emotionless.
Exactly at first I thought she's emotionless.
I think she's protective of her emotions because her mom conditioned that behavior into her. She lost motherly love due to the drowning incident. She has a lot of emotions, she just hides it. And in this video... she's putting on a strong face before she collapses on stage. I think that's what is happening here.

Haein was used to hiding her emotions. Especially to the public. Telling the public that she and her husband have been threatened was not her usual MO (she kept to herself always). But this scene was the only time she expressed publicly that she and her husband were not to be messed with. We can’t expect her to change and cry infront of the cameras.

But the heart wrenching lyric towards the end: “the words I hesitated and swallowed alone. ‘I love you’.”
Her decision to protect him, was after he confessed that he loved her. That was all the confirmation she needed.

In the starting, I felt really bad for Hyun woo, specially when he asked Hae in 'is this your solution' and she said Yes. But the twisttt when she says I was threatened, I literally shouted 'Go girl' in middle of the night. Also how she said my husband ❤.
She's smart and calculating so i had no doubts she wouldn't betray him but I thought she would go for the long game. Play along with the second lead until she had more proof but the queen that she is acted right away. Gotta say the show really subverted expectations!

And then we'll see next episode her trying to get more proofs and internally crying seeing Hyun-woo like this while saying some harsh words to him. But I am so glad they did not go that route.
By far this is most strongest ep after ep 5 and ep6 the epilogue itself was so adorable it shows that not hyun woo but haein is also is deeply in love with each other they are not clingy and dont do cliches PDA but have love in their eyes for each other. Just pure love, hyun woo knows that if haein gets busy with all of this she will get hope once hope dies she might not be able to recover and haein is also the one who always take stand for her husband even behind the back i really adore that scene in ep 9 where she calls hyunwoo's mother as mother even when they got divorced. And the scene in ep 9 when she said we must wait for hyun woo we all will eat together and ran outside the house to see him after work. In ep 10 too the scene in which she got scared and worries in her eyes that her husband got beaten up by the goons and that cute shyness in hyunwoo eyes when she was undressing him to see his wounds i mean that is love.. Their love is unconditional.
There is this one scene that i think no one is talking about is one where the hyunwoo mother got to know about haein disease and she confronted to hyunwoo about this and how she felt bad that she was thinking that haein was in fault but all the time it was hyunwoo who was at fault too at the start of the divorce and the way she cried more it left me sobbing.
Lastly the scene which is also no one is paying attention too the one in which they were having ice pops and hyunwoo said would it be different if we had put ointment/bandaid on our wounds it was actually such a powerful scene that implies that it was not entirely one persons fault but they both were at fault for not communicating, growing misunderstanding between them and distancing themselves from each other and when haein answers and the way hyunwoo said still i will make the same choice. I mean how the writing direction emotions acting and cinematography all of it can be so perfect it make me want to watch the entire ep two times...

finally a kdrama lover who appreciates kdramas as much as me. i think we should meet up in real life ( just kidding of course) because the way queen of tears is scripted, directed, casted and much more is phenomenal to an outstanding degree and like the fact that everyone commenting here understands and empathises with this kdrama shows our deep love for this drama. especially because people dont like queen of tears due to the fact that in the first episode it showcases a married couple in a hierachy of deception and deceit and a ml (hyunwoo) being underappreciated. to be honest hats down for all of us in this comment section by understanding and valuing the plot. and about the ending im scared too because like what if she actually dies like haein's family is still a bit apprehensive around him so would he be taken scapegoat as he usually is even though its genuinely not his fault. or will a sleeping beauty miracle happen where in the end there is a cure and she does live although the world around them is still completely broken but their love resonates and evolves stronger than ever before in a world in need of repair and this could leave us on a cliffhanger which will make us question if there may be a renewal season but there probably wont be. but i would also love to see how the writers would sculpt together a sad ending that doesn't leave us unsatisfied and this would be perfect as there are some dark tones in this kdrama such as divorce, terminal illness, deception, inequality and more. Although with a sad ending it could probably fizz out the viewers to the end as the tones of romance could be muted amongst the slow painful death that haein's illness could cause. but they could explore hyunwoo's passion for his love for his ex wife even after divorce and that he may be the only one who genuinely and deeply cares while she takes her last breath
I love how the writer had deep understanding of the character she built. Of course Haein will not give in to threats. She has shown us her resolve from Day 1. And no sir, she wont let other people exploit her weakness. She'd take control of her own narrative. Thats why she revealed her illness. Sure she didnt want to at first but she will deal with the consequences like the big girl that she is. She can do as much to protect herself and the one she loves.
Respect to the writer. No unnecessary drama of heroine sacrificing herself. And the actors too. The strength yet subtlety of their acting, just... I'm amazed. ❤

Her eyes straight away went to him as soon as she delivered her speech. It's like she knew he was there, her looking at him is like reassuring him that she isn't going anywhere.
Oh this scene is a masterpiece. Not even a single world from Hyunwoo but the way we felt his each and every emotion. From feeling betrayed to feeling defeated and then giving up when he decided to leave and then suddenly realising her plan, looking at her with proud and concern, then being shocked at her revealing her illness. He portrayed so many emotions.
And the moment Haein saw him eye to eye, it's like the world stopped for her.

People don't read minds and emotions are interpreted from our own experience. So Unless it's verbally expressed other people will not know the real motivation for your actions. For example: Hyunwoo looking up survival stories of cancer patients and Hae-in thinking he was worried and distraught.
Like Hyunwoo said to Hae-in when she lost her memory of Germany trip, he forgot a lot of things and details of their love story.
But she needs to express it. People can’t read minds. So many relationships fail bcz of lack of communication. Even in the series, both of them hesitate a lot. They should overcome that and communicate what they feel. I actually liked their fight in Germany bcz Hyunwoo was honest about what he felt and how he suffered.
Because 1) she doesnt say or express it, 2) he is somewhat blissfully ignorant. Haein needs to tell people what she thinks and how she feels. And Hyunwoo needs better “nunchi” (the korean word for the ability to “read the room”).
This is relatble. People in real life do the same thing. Like self-preservation. Like it would kill them to be the first to express or give himself/herself. Pride.

I don’t understand the hate towards Hae-In! Imagine you are critically ill and think your spouse has your back when secretly he has been happy you were dying so he could convince you to put him on your will 🤢 It’s not EASY to forgive something like that, Hyun woo is apologetic about it, but of course Hae-In wouldn’t just throw herself at him after the betrayal. Well…at least the writers weren’t that dumb and made us wait some episodes before they reconcile. What I don’t get is why people are so keen to judge only her and not Hyun woo 💀💀

It’s scary because I can’t predict the ending but I’m happy because they’re truly in love with each other, their eyes, even with harsh words cannot hide the love they feel, the longing and the need for each other. Even when they used bitter words against each other they’ve always loved each other and don’t even realise it. Hae-in never stopped loving Hyun-woo and I can imagine now how much it must’ve pained his heart to say aloud that he despised his wife. True love right here, all the way, I keep forgetting that it’s an act
I shed tears during the plot twist and their eye contact. Madness.
In the beginning, I thought the drama was more apt entitled King of Tears as Hyun Woo had more crying moments than Hae-in. But after episode 10, Hae-in will break what was her tough wall and let loose of her emotions becoming the Queen of Tears. The casts said there are more than 50 plot twists in this drama so the thing we are sure of is that we are never sure of what will happen next.
