- The 2018 Honda X Blade created quite a furor in the Indian market by placing right in between the Honda Unicorn and its elder sibling the Honda Hornet.
A lot of prospective buyers were attracted by its edgy looks, friendly pricing and quite frankly the unique name. However, the Honda X Blade is just a regular, mild mannered commuter bike that is dressed up as a street king. It is an average, hardworking, academic student who decided to trade in his side partitioned hairstyle for spiked hair and is now trying to be tough on the playground.
It’s an interesting experiment from Honda and if one were to make an informed guess, they might be phasing out the Unicorn if the X Blade manages to set the cash registers ringing.

Like I said, it's a pretty good commuter bike dressed up as a fun street bike.
The Savant Life to be alive and safe u don't always need speed my dear friend..bikes are for every age group..not alone for youths..if u feel the bike lacs in power..u should have told it once and continued with other aspects of the bike like pillion comfort..refined engine...good looks.. Neat brakes... Hazard light..ability to tour...the more space the bike has above the back light can be used to place a bag and tie it around for touring..so that the pillion can sit comfortably...u only spoke about speed alone..worst review..u lost ur credibility..

Bro it has good refine engine less vibration than others. Good milage 55 above . Good luking nice suspension . I think best bike in 160 segments ever I have seen . I am using from last 2 months . Far better experience than my old pulsar

Since performance is not something commuters look for, the Yamaha SZ RR 2.0 makes more sense despite being an old bike. It's lighter by at least 6 kilos, has a kill switch, has better headlamps (not those overhyped LEDs) and slightly lower performance for whole lot of less money ( about Rs. 8000). The X Blade is a more form over function bike. The X Blade has a digital instrument cluster and monoshock suspension though.
Honda X Blade bike is a good bike for those who want to ride it to office or ride it with pillion family members. It is a value for money bike for daily city commute with low maintenance compare to honda hornet in long run. It is a trouble free bike with well tested unicorn 160cc engine with few extra torque for city ride. Plus point with this bike compare to honda unicorn 160 Is it's front stylish led headlight. According to me, it is a complete value for money family bike.

lower gears in x blade have broader range when compared with hornet... you don't have to shift gears too often in x blade. u can easily do 60kmph in 3rd gear in xblade while i used to shift to 5th gear for 60kmph in my hornet for smoother ride

I've ridden x blade and found pickup to be as good as fz16 v1 bcoz I used to own one. Your review is opposite of other test riders I don't know why. Maybe becoz of the test bikes.

in terms of refinement ,honda is better..I have both pulsar 160ns and honda x blade.
believe me people don't feel comfortable on pulsar's pillion seat.

I too having Xblade . I am completely happy and satisfied .This is my best decision ever made.This is very comfortable for long rides and you won't feel much tired. Maybe the bike you riding have problem with pick up . That will be repaired in first service.

#savantlife was right about the Honda's not providing their bikes with speeds, and Honda being stubborn about not listening to their customers.. but, everytime speed is not all you need to be hero... He himself never wears safety gears.. although touring is gaining popularity in India, safety gears cost huge, not making accessible it to most of the riders craving just for that quick throttle response...

Nice review..Brother when u say hornet is smooth...it is not at all smooth...most of hornet owner will complain abt chain noise which remains unresolved.

About pickup,
As per my experience im putting few bikes i have ridden just for reference In order
Apache 160 4v, hornet, xblade, fz v2.0 and 3.0, unicorn 150
Each and every customer don't go for high pickup. Lots of customers upgrade from 125 cc or less to 150 cc, they just don't buy based on pickup. There are lots of other aspects.
The 1 bhp xblade is less than hornet gives more mileage.
My recent trips mileage
100 kms countryside ride(lot of bad roads), 65 to 75 kmph 63 kmpl
City 48kmpl
Highway, 400 kms 80 to 90 kmph, 53kmpl
No vibrations till 100kmph, i didn't try more.
85 to 90kmph is smooth cruising, no issues.
The handling of this bike in city is awesome, you were giving wrong information.
You are misguiding people with this review.

DJ Confi: Bike is great.. good would be an understatement! Though I agree a test drive may not have fully conveyed that to you. I have an x-blade.. done close to 500 kms on it till now. Based on my experience x-blade has better "usable power" in mid range and is also "lighter" than hornet. I chose it coz I thought it would fulfill my requirements and my experience till now says that I made a correct decision. I agree with your comments and yes it's a great bike!

Capacity to travel long distance with good pillion comfort.. Soon they might introduce the adventure kit which can be used for long drives..y can't this stupid savant say all these points.. That too in Chennai xblade is only 87k.. Where as Apache 160 is 97k..definitely xblade is a good deal.. Power alone can't decide a bikes success.. Looks performance less vibrations.. Real world performance everything is important..

I am eagerly waiting for the adventure kit too.. the showroom folks guessed that the whole kit could cost anywhere b/w 5- 10k which would be a great deal. To be honest, a value for money, reliable, beautiful looking, robust/bullet proof engine, great mileage providing, spacious, good for pillion, extremely comfortable bike plus possibility of adventure kit in future proposition in this price bracket is hard to find. Honda needs to promote this bike more. I daresay this bike could eat up unicorn 160 and to some extent hornet's sale too.. given its has mixed characteristics from both of them plus got the good looks too.

It has a good topspeed of 132 kmph and no one ever complained about the acceleration of this bike and also watched many topspeed video of this bike where from the beginning this bike can accelerate like hell... Such as 1st gear-45kmph, 2nd-80kmphr, 3rd-105kmph, 4th-120kmphr and 5th upto 130+.... It depends on the rider how much u can push it...

i bought XBlade bike 1 week bike .... mine top speed is 125 km/h and mileage : highway - 65 km/l and city ride 50 km/l .. so average mileage is 58 km/l. I bough engine guard separately for this bike at 800rs. Ek dam jakass bike hai.

I think hornet and xblade is over priced because they are focusing in scooter's. If they can add gear indicator in hornet i am sure it's sales will go up only only if they wouldn't change the price because the Hornet is already overpriced
