    Hello my lovelies, I knew making this video there would be a chance of people not particularly liking this style and that’s a risk I was willing to take to find out what works! I want to stress I don’t know Lori, we don’t know Lori, my case study was solely about her as a young woman with the limited info we know about her and I confidently stated that this wasn’t for the basis of comparison but I understand how some women may feel. I will continue to stick to my usual style of videos that don’t include celebrities or public figures. I don’t usually jump on popular topics but like I said this was requested. Please check out the two other videos I have made on femininity in the past 😊 be blessed!

    The difference between Lori and many of us is that she has family. She has a whole support system. Children like her will always exude this kind of energy. Girls that have supportive fathers, brothers etc. They usually exhibit strong yet subtle femininity. Love the vid.

    The biggest thing Lori does is make the most of herself. Yeah she's lightskin with light eyes blah blah but she dresses very well, no heavy make up with terrible wig, she eats well, stays in shape, she's well spoken, she dates to a certain standard (let's be honest we knew it wouldn't last with Future), she's quite peaceful and leaves people to think what they think. I see SO MANY black girls do the exact opposite of everything I just listed. So don't be Lori, just do what Lori has done: be you, but the best you.

    When I see her, I immediately thought of her mother. Her mother exudes extreme feminity and I truly believe some of that is genetics. Her mom certainly passed that down to her. I think true feminity is not necessarily softness, but rather a demure regalness and black women naturally have that. Circumstance have called us to step up in forms where we have had to abandon our feminity. Breeny, I love that you stepped out of your comfort zone and shared this new content. This is not criticism or trying to find faults in this at all. But I do think this new ideal of striving to be the ultimate feminine woman is to attract men. And there is nothing wrong with that too. I just don’t like when people try act as if these divested/feminine goals are one size fits all and are attainable for every woman. Lora Harvey is notorious known for freely dating wealthy men and she is able to do so because of her beauty and connections. It has very little to do with her other attributes since none of us personally know her, we can’t even assume otherwise. So to tell young women that they should act a certain way in hopes they can live a life like Lori is unrealistic. Her beauty is her ultimate price, if she wasn’t nobody would be calling her the ultimate feminine woman . This is just my observation and would love other views?

      I agree with you on this, I've noticed a huge trend in feminine energy videos recently and some of them focus on being like a certain woman and I personally find it bizarre that so many people focus on being like someone they have never met or know personally. I think it's more than just a look or what we see on screen, we have no idea who Lori Harvey really is other than a beautiful woman, I have no idea what she is like personally! So why on earth am I going to aspire to be a woman I have no realistic view on? In a world where a woman is always being pushed from one trend to the next, been told how to speak, how to act, what to wear, what to say, how to be more of a woman, how to make a man like you, I'm quite frankly tired. I just think we need to do what makes us happy for ourselves. I think it's ok to be inspired and admire but to change yourself to be like someone else is strange.

      I believe that this being both the man & woman narrative is largely a choice. Embodying True femininity will naturally repel those kind of disharmonious energies from you, meaning you will not attract men that will sleep with you & leave you holding the baby.
      Feminine energy is to attract, pull in. The egg doesn’t chase the sperm. A woman doesn’t penetrate a man. If your situation is such that you need to be both man & woman, embodying your feminine energy will change all of that by attracting the right people that will support you into your life. There are 4 billion men on the planet. If you cannot attract one into your life to help with your load your feminine energy is way off.

    There is such a heavy wave of “femininity” content that is being released atm. It will be interesting to see the future results of all of this advice. Women (young girls especially) are essentially being told to alter themselves and play a role, in order to get a certain type of man to pursue them. What happens when you no longer want to perform anymore? When you just want to be yourself?

    • @yanikeonpurpose

      Yes I’m interested to see how it pans out too! I really get disheartened when I see that the fundamentals of pushing this school of thought forward is to secure a man. 😔
      Femininity is SO much bigger than that.
      And these girls contorting themselves into these feminine archetypes to secure a man that doesn’t even embody masculinity in its highest form, will potentially have mental breakdowns when they realise it is a full time job. You can’t be this way to get a man then revert to your true self after you secure the bag. Issa full time job, & I don’t think these women are ready for the kind of work they’ll have to put in.

      Preach! I've been watching femininity videos for over a year now and I've come to the conclusion that whilst a lot of it is highly valuable for black women in particular- eg. Put your best foot forward, physical upkeep confidence and self care- the overarching message and goal is to attain a 'high value man.' Some channels are going as far as to encourage black women to stay away from black men which I don't agree with. Black men fall into different subcultural groups like any other and believe it or not, good professional, non-colorist ones do still exist. You can't look at colourist uneducated men on social media and use that to judge ALL black men IRL. Interracial dating is fine also but there seems to be a lot of indoctrination going on and shaming of 50/50 relationships. Do I believe a man should pay on all our dates? Yes. But do I think a man with a 9 to 5 should bankroll my WHOLE life? Nope. I am nobody's child and I don't want to be anybody's housewife in 2020. My mother was one (still is) and it's not all it's cracked up to be. Women need our own resources, domestic abuse is real. You can't dip when he holds the purse strings.
      Also CERTAIN femininity channels are advocating finding a sugar daddy- ideas that many vulnerable girls and women with minimal resources wouldn't have even conceived of before coming across those channels. Did you know sugar daddy websites are actually considered sex work? Some of these messages are going to have more vulnerable women unknowingly prostituting themselves without even realising it until it is too late. You need to know how to navigate men with real money and power, many are narcissists and used to having their way.
      On top of that chances will be missed with nice enough regular professional men, because they aren't 'high value' enough. We can't all be like Lori Harvey. She has connections and a powerful stepfather. Some of this is literally selling girls and women a dream. Not everyone is going to find a 'high value' husband (by the femininity community's standards) and that is okay.

      Yes, I questioned these one dimensional ideas of “femininity” a long time ago. I take their advice with a grain of salt and do what works for me. The goal isn’t to be a completely different person than who I am, the goal is to enhance who I am using feminine allure.

    Also “if you want to be respected, dress respectfully” is not a good take and is rather dangerous. It’s the rhetoric men have used time and time again. We’ve passed this stage of trying to tell women to dress a certain way to be respected. Everyone should be respected regardless of their look.

    • @MsFoodInternational
      @MsFoodInternational Před 4 lety +105

      I’ll have to disagree, dressing provocatively definitely does send a certain message out to the public. Men are sexually driven by what they see, and while it is not right for them to react in an inappropriate manner, it does become easy for them to objectify women based on how they are dressed. There’s a reason men “lust” over Kim K. They don’t want to wife her? Dressing any old way not only calls for attention in general but just THE WRONG attention. How you carry yourself/how your present yourself speaks volumes and I wish more women understood that.

    • @sandycarestoo

      Kenedi Facey please bye. I also disagree with you. We really need to stop saying that men are sexually driven. They are human beings who should be able to control their sexual urges like the rest of us. That’s not even scientific. No, not more women need to understand. We need to stop saying that stupid shit about men not being able to control themselves and respect women without what they’re wearing being the focus. Miss me with this BS.

      @MsFoodInternational Před 4 lety +43

      sandycarestoo I do understand your viewpoint, and I am not saying that it’s okay for men to possess a lack self control. I am just stating that the way a woman presents herself speaks volumes even to men and even other women as well. I mean, I as a woman even pay attention to how OTHER women present themselves. It’s not only to shield ourselves from men. We can agree to disagree that’s fine, I respect your opinion.

      Unfortunately we can’t read minds so humans are naturally driven to be visual beings, and men (to a scientifically proven degree) more sexually driven.
      As much as we would love for what we wear not to matter we can’t pretend that it doesn’t matter. It’s hard wired into society internationally and probably forever will be.
      You just learn to play the game.

Follow simple rules - love yourself, respect yourself, have compassion for others, values like this. The people meant to be in your life will accept you for you. You should always be sweet and kind to people but don’t expect anything in return, also, you should not be afraid to say no to people, sat your true feelings e.g when you’re busy and can’t do stuff for people(put yourself first priority) in a calm way, don’t be afraid to cut off people that use you and don’t give them any explanation for your decisions, don’t address the hate or gossip about others, smile more, check on your real friends and family from time to time. This is addressing the people saying femininity is mainly about getting a man... When I'm at work I bring my masculine energy. When I'm alone in the wilderness with nothing but my pack and a knife to protect me, I am in my masculine energy. I can easily jump into "try me, mother fucker" energy, but that's not appropriate within my home and within my marriage. There is a time and place for everything. Gender roles are complex and unique to each situation, but we have evolved over hundreds of thousands of years to be feminine. Most men don't want to date a woman who is masculine within the context of a relationship, just like most of us don't like dating a man who isn't masculine. You don't have to change who you are, but it's good to understand which side of your very complex self you should let shine within different situations and this video is here to help women understand how to express their feminine side. Be a badass at the gym, but also be aware of how loud you are in social settings lol

I also noted that you started off the video by saying this is not about finding or keeping a man, but used your previous relationships or interactions with men to support the points made on this list (for example when you spoke on mystery and moving in silence/ being soft-spoken) Finally, feminity isn't something I would say I actively pursue, but your explanation feels rather confining and dependent on how you present yourself to others. I'm interested in understanding how we can be in touch with our feminity without worrying about others' perception of us being the defining factor (at least that's what it felt like from the video).

The most interesting part about me surely ain’t the fact that men chase me. I’m trying to uplift other women, that’s femininity to me. Idk if y'all have heard of Brent Faiyaz but he's an American rapper/rnb singer and he has kind of toxic music like when you sit down and listen you'll be like, "this n*gga aint sh*t" but the way he carries himself is sooo unmatched. We really only know what he wants us to know which is RARE for an artist nowadays and the girls are going CRAZYY for him (including me). I'm not sure if its feminine energy or what, but he has his style of music, the way he dresses he never misses, his hair is always well kept, and he always looks clean and simple. He's never flashy too, no obnoxious jewelry or designer labels. I feel as if thats the reason why women are so attracted to him compared to these other rappers and singers. Also, You're absolutely right, a lot of American women specifically do not carry themselves in a feminine way anymore and idk why this loud, flashy, ratchet lifestyle is so popularized out here. Women from the UK and other countries seem to have a better grasp on femininity thats why i prefer hauls and vlogs of people from the UK or Canada.

    I agree with most things but you lost me on the ‘if you wanna be treated respectfully, dress respectfully’ . Just sounds like respectability politics which is why so many women end up being raped/sexually assaulted. You may want to rethink that take.

      @fifidebessai9081 Před 4 lety +21

      b honestly, i think about this often and think she has a point. obviously no body deserves to be raped or harassed or anything like that based on what they are wearing. just like if you leave your house door unlocked, it doesn’t mean you deserve to be robbed. but you should do things in your power to keep these things from happening. whether that’s dressing more modestly or locking your door. and on top of that, what you wear does send a message. that’s just the truth. just like your manners or lack of sends a message. or whatever the case may be, it all sends a message. so yeah, if you want to be respected, you must dress respectfully.

      Citizen of the World no one accused her of promoting rape culture. But in telling women to "dress respectfully" she’s shifting accountability away from men, who then happen to be sentenced milder because a woman was wearing something "disrespectful“? Victimshaming all the way.
      If women are responsible for how they are being treated by men based on what they wear, how do you explain that women have been raped even in centuries where you could only ever see their face when they were in public and everything else was covered? 🤔 make it make sense! Women wearing whatever they want ain’t the problem, not teaching men to be respectful, decent and selfcontrolled is!

      Y’all reading too much into this! Look dress how you want to dress and dress how you feel. Dress for you and feel confident in how you dress. Every woman is different! Some women show more and others don’t. There’s different sides when it comes to be feminine. Some days a woman wants to dress sexy and other days she doesn’t depending on the mood. I dress for me so dress for you and no one else. Every occasion has a dress code so don’t be extra but have fun and dress for you.

      It's literally psychology, how you dress and present yourself is how people esteem you. That's it.
      Its has nothing to do with rape.

    Nice video Breeny!! The only problem that I have with these femininity videos is that they always seem to be geared towards Black women. Has anybody else ever noticed that, or is it just me? I just feel like it further pushes the general stereotype that Black women aren't feminine/ are loud and have more masculine tendencies. I rarely see these femininity videos geared towards white women on this platform. IDK maybe I'm reaching.

      adachioma it’s obviously just my personal opinion but no, you’re not reaching at all. If a video about "feminine energy" is all about how you should dress and how you should speak, we‘re in serious trouble. I’m sure Breeny did not mean to hurt people with the content of this video because I know that she wants to help people but using a harmful narrative will eradicate the importance of a once positive intention. I personally think that especially darker skinned WoC have Heard- enough. They’ve been told to be certain things and to not be other things. The used narrative in this video is just another manifestation of how deeply racism and sexism is rooted in our minds.

    people should just be themselves, some women like to dress both feminine and tomboyish and I think there’s nothing wrong with that, cause these channels have started bashing women for “dressing like men” and how “femininity is lost” I mean I agree on some aspects but wearing comfortable clothes that are “tomboyish” doesn’t mean you can’t be feminine. And so many youtubers take Rihanna as an example, but if you look at her style she dresses both feminine and “masculine”
