@@RabblesTheBinx You cant get a stutter from damaged vocal cords. Stutter only occurs as a processing disorder in the brain. You can however develop one as a result of a brain injury such as a concussion. The softball accident caused him to fall and smack his head, giving him a concussion. Which is likely the injury that caused it.
@@twitch136661 that’s not necessarily true. You can get a concussion without ever hitting your head. Your head just has to move and usually your brain smacks against your skull. Some veterans have got concussions from limb injuries because their head whipped, but they never hit their head. Getting hit in the throat could cause his head to whip back and his brain shook against his skull without ever actually hitting the ground or impacting his head. Additionally, you don’t JUST get stutters from a brain disorder. Stutters can also develop due to a traumatic experience without any actual damage to the brain. Doctor’s don’t really know why that is, but it happens.
The softball damaged the nerves in his vocal cords. That coupled with a possible whip concussion could have made him develop a stutter.
Comedians with disabilities have been made fun of their entire life. They've developed thick skin and have a cache of witty comebacks.
Virak Chhang hes unique because before his injury he had lived his whole without ever having been made fun of so he experienced bullying for the first time as an adult, he got a thick skin fast

Agreed!! The orinigal injury causing the stutter was nerve damage to his throat (sports injury), so I often wonder what the progress is on the nerve reparation! My uncle had an injury that left nerves in his arm damaged, and the recovery has taken a looooong time, and was not 100%, but remarkable what the body can heal from! Drew has to have put in so much work! Very impressive - especially to have NEVER lost his humor and charisma throughout it all!!

The power of speech therapy! I had a bad stutter as a kid, not really the traditional way, I would just be unable to say certain things when I got excited, I'd open my mouth and couldn't get anything to come out. Now I have no stutter at all. Off topic but now eveytime I talk to someone with a stutter I always do my best to listen because no one did that for me

Wait a second, why isn't she allowed to make a joke about the same thing Drew makes jokes about all the time? He doesn't have some special right to make fun of stuttering just because he actually has a stutter. Either everyone can joke about it or no one can. Saying that only the people with the disability can joke about it is like saying only black people can say "nigga". That is prejudice to say only one group is allowed to do or say certain things. It shouldn't be about who says it, it should be about why they say it. If a white, Asian, or Latino person wants to say "What's up, my nigga?" as a greeting to their friends, then why can't they when it's obvious that they are using it as the exact same term of endearment that black people use it? As for the lady in this video, it seems very likely she was just joking about it because Drew jokes about it a lot and she thought it's ok since he seems ok with it enough to joke about it himself. I highly doubt she'd make jokes like that to a person that stutters and is self conscious about it. As long as their intent is innocent, you mother fuckers need to get off your emotions for a few and think.

I developed a bit of a stutter and speech slurring after a medication withdrawal situation that never went away. I get so angry with myself sometimes but this guy is awesome, he tries his hardest even if it's difficult sometimes. I always thought the speech problem I have was awful as someone who used to speak perfectly but this guy makes it look easy to shake it off. Good to see!
My brother and my son both stuttered as children. My son would get very frustrated and that made it harder to speak. I told him people can wait for you, if they're really interested they will and if they don't they're not worth the effort. I would ask him to stop and take a breath before proceeding and it helped him a lot, I think most of the family has forgotten he ever stuttered at all. I hope this helps.

Even amateur ones, they practice, practice, practice. This was the show he went up on stage to deliver. It’s very well done, but it’s fake. The jokes about cum-stuttering were pretty clearly rehearsed
