The Anime doesnt convey this, but Roxy pretty much saved rudies life. He was hold up in his room for a many many days, (i think it was a few weeks), not eating, barely drinking. He was withering away, replaying that moment of his pauls death over and over again. No one could get him to do anything no matter how much they tried. Finally one day Geese brings up that when men are like this, sex can bring them out of it, they all agreed but since sylphie wasnt there and they didnt think rudy would feel good about sleeping with a random person in a brothel, they tried to get Enelise to sleep with him but she refused since hes married to her granddaughter. They kept pleading with her to do it to save rudy. They even suggested that Lilia do it, but that got shot down right away. Roxy after much thought decided that if it would save rudy then she would do it. (Also she wasnt aggressive about it like the anime portrays it.)
Also Enelise lies at the bonfire and tells rudy that since him and roxy slept together almost 2 months ago, roxy hasnt had her period. Thats the focal point of all this and its what really pushes rudy to try to make roxy his wife. He really didnt want to betray sylphie, and wasnt going to marry roxy. But if she was going to give birth to his child then he was going to take responsibility for it.
Anyways, i just wish the anime went deeper into both of these things cuz it kinda seemed like she forced herself onto him for almost no reason, and he wants to marry roxy purely out of selfishness.

Some people claimed that the author had changed things in the anime trying to convey more accurately his vision, obviously is a hard work because you can’t have all the space and time like in the light novel and sometimes things will have to get cut but for me as a anime only watcher I see what they did and understand it.

An adaptation is always its own thing, it's never the same and should not be judged by how much was cut or (even more importantly) how different it is. A prime example is the 1989 manga /1995 movie / 2002 series Ghost in the Shell, where all versions are quite different from each other (even the main character), to great effect.
What's important is that the story still makes sense, and that it is enjoyable.

Yoir reaction is quite fair. The anime skipped a lot of context making it look like Roxy just made a move, but in reality Rudeus was for days/weeks in his room without eating anything and ppl just didnt know what to do anymore.
Elinalise and Geese sugested this ide aof "man are simple. Give them alcohol and a woman to bed and they will get the will to live again" and they even considered bringing him to a brothel or something because they were stuck in Rapan because of Rudeus at this point.

Polygamy does exist, but don't you kind of already owe it to your current spouse to talk about it beforehand? Even in the LN, that was my primary hang up about this moment too. Although in anime context, I would have to say that Rudy wasn't in the right state of mind when Roxy got in his bed. I wouldn't place TOO much of the blame on him for that. He hasn't eaten or slept well in days. All he's been doing is apparently wallowing in despair, thinking about his parents in his first life, and the ones he got in his second life.
Elinalise also knew Roxy for far longer than she did Sylphy, so it kinda makes sense to me why she would root for Roxy being wed to Rudy.

  • @Tounushi

6:15 That is an excellent point, that he's holding it together because everyone's there for him. It's also why Roxy told him "Everyone is waiting for you." Even if he'd known last time that there are people with high hopes for him, he didn't internalize it and they were all far away. This time he has people who trust him and believe in him both immediately present and waiting for him at home. More than that, the ones with him are relying on him to get home. That aids in his healing or at the very least holds him glued together long enough to make it back home to his loving wife's arms. Though you'll have to see how she reacts to the news he is about to bring her.

The book makes us privy to more of Rudeus' thinking. His night with Roxy essentially served as a reset button and he was thinking a lot clearer and lighter the next morning, but recognized his problems had only been pushed aside and added to. His very first thoughts when waking up were how he'd screwed up and how is he ever going to explain this to Sylphie. Then again in the book, Rudeus was the one who pushed Roxy down after she gave him the idea it's okay.
The talk he had with her in the morning is what served to duct tape him together well enough to embark on his journey home, where he could actually start healing.
In the book Rudeus told Roxy the story of a _completely fictional and unrelated man_ who'd ruined his relationship with his family, ended up in a new land and started a new life, gained a new family, but had made a terrible mistake that reminded him of his parents who'd been left unmourned. He asked her what _that completely fictional man_ should do. Since he can't go back to visit the parents' graves or talk to the relatives, then the only thing he can do is focus on the family he has in front of him.
The anime streamlined the meaning to relate to Paul and how Rudeus has to focus on his mothers and his sisters rather than follow Paul to the grave.
Her plea is the most impactful line for me in the entire book series: "Please look to the future. Everyone is waiting for you." Especially since she likely picked up on what Rudeus meant.

  • @KnockKnack
    @KnockKnack Před 2 měsíci

I guess a line that wasn't included during Elinalise and Rudeus's conversation was “Yes, I can say it. No one else could say this but me, I realize I shouldn’t say it like this, but before I was Sylphie’s grandmother, I was Roxy’s close friend.” since they've spent quite a long time traveling since the events of S1. In the LN, Elinalise tells Rudeus that in one of her drinking sesh with Roxy, Roxy mentions that her monthly visitor hasn't come. Then asking Rudeus what would he do if Roxy is preggy, in which he replied that he'll marry Roxy in that case. Anime made it seem that he needed a lot convincing from Elinalise, while the LN showed a bit more of Rudeus owning up the responsibility if needed.

Mushoku Tensei gives food for thought, this world is different with different rules and religion, it will bring a whole new problem for people because if you can marry more than one person, will you?, someone will others don’t but is not an easy answer because in the world we live in is something saw as something bad.

5:45 Lilia's dynamic was more centered around Zenith and Rudeus in the family. She did become Paul's wife and eventually came to truly love him, but her ties were strongest with Zenith who'd essentially adopter her as a sister and with Rudeus who saved her life. However, she sees herself first and foremost as the family servant and that her ties to the others are best served in that capacity.

So the future topic will be whether Sylphie forgives him for breaking it once, and whether she would be ok with invalidating/removing that promise completely.

Than there is nothing to complain, in fact polygamy marriage is much much preferable than letting man cheating behind and one night stand with proustite. With Polygamy marriages the man take responsibilities by making it official and help the first wife to share the responsibilities of a wife (taking care house, husband and kid) .

to be fair, in the light novel, it wasn't Roxy's idea to seduce Rudy. It was Elinalise who, in a discussion with Roxy, Geese, and Talhand, said that sex can pull a man out of a fit of depression like this. (She had plenty of personal experience, it seems.) Rudy had been in a deep depression for weeks, but Elinalise could not be the one to do the deed to pull him out of it this time. It was at that point that Roxy took it on herself to do it. This was in the same discussion where Roxy found out that Rudy had a wife and a kid on the way. Her objective was to pull Rudy out of his depression. Nothing more really.
That said, Elinalise knew exactly what she was doing when she brought up the idea of somebody sleeping with Rudy. She knew Roxy was in love with Rudy, and unlike what was implied in the scene right after Roxy and Rudy leave their hotel room, she wouldn't have been too surprised that Roxy did it.
The lost cause regarding Zenith is that, according to Elinalise, the person she knew who was trapped in a magic crystal lost all memories and never got them back. The person Elinalise knows was later able to lead a more-or-less normal life, but the person's memories only date back to coming out of a coma-like state after being rescued from the crystal.
Finally in the light novels, Elinalise pretty much cornered Rudy into proposing to Roxy. Her excuse was that she was Roxy's friend before she was Syplhie's grandmother (which isn't quite true, but from her perspective, she was Roxy's friend for several years, and it was only recently that she found out that she was Sylphie's grandmother). Personally I like this version a little better since it puts the decision to seduce Rudy squarely on Roxy's shoulders and the decision to propose squarely on Rudy's.
One other thing about Norn that you may not know is that while she was in Millishion with her father, she was taken in, while Paul was out rescuing teleportation victims, by Zenith's family who are devout Millis believers. So Norn is pretty devout in her Millis beliefs too.
