  • Mr. Bill just dropped his debut album on Monstercat so I listened to it a couple times and am now reviewing -- NOT ranking -- it here (so no scores just talking about the songs in tracklist order). Reminder that these are just my opinions.

i really love this album and it’s a strong contender for album of the year for me. there’s really not a bad song here and every single one finds its own way to stand out among the others.
i know you mentioned that this album doesn’t feel like it’s for casual listening, mostly because of the complex production and sound design going on, but i’ve found myself replaying it a bunch and i’ve found that it’s a really cohesive album that works perfectly when listening to the whole thing in one go.
of course, there’s a couple parts that don’t really click with me as much as the rest of the album, but it’s not because they aren’t executed or produced well, it’s mostly because it’s not for me, and i can still respect the effort that went into every single bit of the album.
with that said, there’s also some parts that really stand out and just leave you astounded with everything that’s going on. i remember the first time i heard the intro to subrioty my eyes got wide open and i just said “damn.” bring it on was also a big curveball for me, considering i was not expecting rap on the album & the beat itself was wonky af. there’s also the drop after the second buildup on real2real, which is just insane. i could keep going on and on with other parts of the album that blew my mind, but honestly i’d be here for hours.
anyways, my favorites are real2real, bring it on, inflammable, bones, subrioty, impeccable & wybe.
my least favorite is lie. it’s still a good song but it’s not as much for me as the others. the flows just felt a bit too weird.
overall, 9.5/10 album and it just keeps growing on me. wow

I checked this one out because I like Mr. Bill and even though it wasn't his best work, it still had some fun moments like always. Rewind and Sudo especially are pretty sick.

Otherwise, I wanna give this album more listens since I really like Mr Bill’s sound design

I actually really like sudo, not only because of its nerdy name, but also because it almost sounds nostalgic to me; it's hard to describe, but I really like it

Indeed. Most of the songs on this LP failed to exceed my expectations, due to experimental overload in sound design. However, there are exceptions and tracks such as sudo, Chords 15, Big Chordi Boi, Haze, Barely See, Bones and Rawthentic worth it.
