Just recently found this band and holy shit they're amazing
Well, you are sooo lucky, have fun with thousands side-projects (~6) by Steve
Ha! have fun, welcome to the fam!
Welcome to our cult, lol!
Check out the album "Recordings," it's underrated
You are in for a treat and a deep rabbit hole. Porcupine Tree is great, Steven Wilson's solo stuff is great, Blackfield is great - then you can delve deeper into No-Man, Bass Communion Storm Corrosion, Wilson's remasters.
@@jayg339 also I.E.M.
The first album that I heard from them and immediately became a fan!
Check "trains" and thank me later
@@Dilidjent thank you, I've listened to every album many times since 2007 🤝🏻
Same here
Perhaps their most "mainstream" album, but also perhaps their best. Arriving Somewhere is an absolute masterpiece!
@@Alex-nk8bw In Absentia sounds more mainstream, imo
Been hoping for this since the In Absentia rerelease. Fingers crossed for Fear of a Blank Planet in a couple of years!
A great album! ❤ can’t wait
Te amo, Porcupine Tree.
seeing Colin smile on this video trailer is something special
New documentary? With Colin also?!?!? WOOHOO!!!
Best porcupine tree album! Love from India!❤️
That was a great time for me when that album wa released in April 2005! After I bought the CD, I played it all summer and fall and had an incredible time at the show i seen them at in Detroit in October 2005! Was so happy to meet the band and even had a nice fee minutes conversation with Steven Wilson about a brief history of the band and touring guitar player John Wesley even invited me for a drink with the band just WOW!
Lucky 👏👏👏
There's so much to learn and be inspired about in every PT number! Thank you so much Porcupine Tree. I love you all!
It finally happened (after the bandcamp screw-up teased us that this was coming).
I am glad we are getting this, not only for the new remaster* that is more balanced and not as blown out, but also for a more in depth look to this period in PT's timeline. A lot of really interesting material came out of these sessions.
As far as I understand it's not a new mix, it's a remaster.
@@hovhannes11 yeah, you are right, it's the 2018 remaster, which given how In Absentia's deluxe version went, it'll be available on streaming platforms too.
P.T. is awesome.... In Absentia, Deadwing, Fear of a blank planet all in 5.1 DVD Audio great surround albums!
I love you guys!🇧🇷
So happy about this. My favourite album of Porcupine Tree.
Each and every song is an experience of a life.
My first PT album. :)
Amazing album!
Steven Wilson!!! Make Recordings II, I' ve heard about your band in the end of summer of 21 year and there is not a single day without a thought about your music, Its so romantic, calm and beautiful!!!
My copy arrived today and I have to say it's wonderful! Loads of insight into the making of the record, the b-sides I've never had the chance to own before, and the demos make for an interesting listen... now to get me a blu-ray player for the final disc!
be a mate and upload the documentary
@@nantan9453 I don't pirate things for myself or for others, sorry.
I started liking and following PT this year and Deadwing is defo my fav album (as a whole album, a single work of art). There is a constant contemplative vibe from top to finish and songs like Something beautiful and Mellotron are among my favs of their whole catalogue. The album passes thru different stages and has much diversity (a 10 mins intro song with no chorus, a sticky yet very well written hard rock tune with a killer riff, a soft song with lyrics about the afterlife, etc yet the album always keeps a sort of identity or spine in the background (from arriving somewhere until the end, for me at least, all those songs could be just one song-maybe with the exception of Open car which is anyway a fantastic short song which finishes just after the second chorus with no bridge or complex instrumental additional passages, bringing more diversity to the album). Sometimes I regret not having followed them in the 2000-2010 decade while in their prime and youth (and mine) but it is so hard to find good contemporary music (very little after 2000) that the only thing one can do is to explore old bands one didn't know much about before, so I am glad I found them now as it's been many years since I got excited and super fanatical about a band. Listened to all their records, side/solo projects etc and made my own selection of their best works which I listen to everyday now. I also saw them live in London's Wembley arena and they were absolutely great. Gavin steals the show for me. Him and Danny Carey are the Jedi of drums in the 21st century. I hope PT keep releasing new music for a long time!!
too good!
For whatever reason, I haven’t yet purchased this album. Now I know why - I was holding out for the deluxe edition!😂 🎸🤘
Same bro!
Nice!!
Great stuff!
Awesome!!!
Quite the Christmas gift Steven! Eternally grateful.
Ordered!
At a time when I was only into Metallica and Pink Floyd, here was a band I discovered from my twin brother's iTunes library that combined what I love about both bands.
It was heavy, and it took me on a journey. Still does...
Sending love from Buffalo, NY!
Kevin
I think that Deadwing is their best album, every song from it is great (including the bonus tracks), the story is great, and it was originally going to be the soundtrack to a screenplay of the same name. That last part never came to be or at least not until And No Birds Sing, can't wait for that to come out.
When's the release date set for?
@@hxplxss1835 here's the fun part, there isn't one
NO BCUS IM SEEING PORCUPINE TREE THIS YEAR AND I WILL PASS OUT SO MANY TIMES
@@liz-be8vs What the fuck are you saying man?
I’m anticipating listening to the demos and extra tracks.
Beautiful reissue man 🖤📀
A few months ago, I was thinking about buying the DVD off eBay so I could get the 5.1 surround mix. I am so glad I didn't and now I will just buy this for all of its bonus content.
Embarrassed to say that I have only recently found PT... oh, what a revelation. Music that touches the soul is rare.
Remastered?? I can’t wait!!
Ordered!!!
I wonder when the documentary was recorded. From the preview, Colin is involved and looks happy. I've also seen Colin use that room for a recent podcast appearance. Colin's description of the manner in which Steven removed him from the band sounded a bit cold to me, telling him that the rest of the band had recorded all C/C material without him and that lawyers would soon be in touch. If the documentary was recorded after that conversation perhaps the split is more amicable than I perceived it.
Wow, that's harsh! "We recorded a new record! Also, you're not in the band now, bye!"
@@MykeLewisMusic Indeed. For context, here is the full quote from Colin:
"We hadn't fallen out or anything, and were in contact occasionally about various things, reissues mainly, or odd business things, but there had long been no indication or hint of any new band activity, writing sessions or any possibility of reactivation. My band O.R.k toured with Pineapple Thief in 2019, we all got on fine and there was no mention at all from [Porcupine Tree and Pineapple Thief drummer Gavin Harrison] about any possible new PT stuff, certainly nothing from anyone else.
"So it was a surprise to me in March 2021, in lockdown, to get an email from Steve telling me there's a new album and as he's already played all the bass parts there's 'no role for me.' Soon after that Steve's lawyer gets in touch. I have had no real contact from anyone since."
@@fuzzylogiceire wow. That is some cold sh*t right there.
Hell yes, I was wondering when this would happen!
One of my favorite albums next to Fear of a Blank Planet, In Absentia, and Closure Continuation possibly Stupid Dream too.
Holy shit, i've been waiting for this for ages!!! Thank you!!!!
i been praying for this!! i cant wait! I always thought it was the best PT album. Saw them perform it live it san diego
Had this CD for more than a year in my car. One of the biggest CD ever.
THIS IS MY FAVOURITE PORCUPINE TREE ALBUM, TAKE MY MONEY PLEASE
my favorite porcupine tree album i need this so bad
Muchas gracias
This looks awesome. If only I still owned a CD player! ;-)
Can't wait to get it! I have everything available, including Blackfield, solo and Flower mouth...🎸
found this band by pure chance about 6 months ago, instant fan, amazing is the most used word when talking about PT. Any live shows happening in Australia? Please say yes.
At last, after the superb job done on In Absentia I cannot wait to get my hands on this!!
Yes!
All time favorite album
Splendid and tremendous
this remix of all songs was damn amazing!!!!
There is a good news! Can't wait
i need it!
I love You guys 🔥🔥🔥
Saw them on the Lazarus tour with #Anathema as support - what a great combination this was
Their best album. Ive been a fan from 1999.Hope it wont break the bank to buy this.
Nah it's not even close to Fear, he will never top that.
It's £70
Great news and package
Yesssss
LET'S GOOOOO
Need a Fear of a Blank Planet one next. I already have Anesthetize but I would love a documentary
hope that's one would have the documentary. it gonna be epic
Can't wait for this. Hype level: silksong
Unpopular opinion: Many of Porcupine Tree's songs are otherworldly good, but I feel like Open Car is probably the very best song to introduce someone to PT, bar none (except possibly Anesthetize). Has that amazing rhythm that alternates between 17/8 and 4/4 but it's still totally digestable for people who only listen to 4/4, the love story the lyrics portray isn't generic like most love songs but it has a lot of familiar aspects, it's got a very punchy satisfying metal sound, it beautifully showcases Richard's ability to integrate subtle soundscapes that transport you to another world, Gavin's mindblowingly good drum writing and execution (particularly for the 17/8 parts) show how mature/humble/fiercely talented he is, it gives the listener a pretty decent demo of Steven's vocal range, it shows how Colin's style tended to be quite subtle but his controbution to PT's overall sound just made everything sound so much richer and full, and all of that in a very comfortable and accessible 3:47 playtime.
It's so easy to digest that most people probably wouldn't even notice the time signature isn't 4/4, but under the deceptively simple surface, there are so many amazing details to dig into and discover on repeat listens, and very little of the kinds of aspects of progressive rock/metal that tend to turn people away (no vocals, way too much vocals, super long playtime, pointlessly convoluted rhythms/chord progressions, "experimental" soundscapes with a bunch of weird sound effects, tempo being too slow or too fast, etc.). This song lives rent-free in my mind and I love it.
The starting riff of Open Car is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Well, guess im going to go listen to Deadwing now
Me too lol 😂
Just got my copy. After several years, finally hearing the album that got me into the band remastered to perfection is absolutely amazing. The original master was definitely a victim of the loudness war era. This version of the album sounds perfect. In addition, I'm stoked to be able to listen to the B-Sides which I had previously only gotten to hear via random CZcams uploads (with questionable audio quality at best).
be a mate and upload the documentary
La unica banda que no puedo dejar de escuchar desde hace 10 años. PT Fan 😁
omg my favourite PT album, I've been hoping they'd do something for Deadwing! I know he hates mp3s but please tell me there'll be a way to get the CDs digitally too (like In Absentia). Though I'll probably get the physical package anyway.
The bonus content will drop on Spotify as well??
Nice. Here's hoping that the latest album comes out on this format too, with a book the same size as previous releases......
Are we going to have this on vinyl?
Hail rock 🤘🖤
YYIIIPPPPEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!
Bkn porcupine tree!!! 🖤
🤘🤘🤘🤘
On my birthday no less....
Might be my favourite album of all time... unless it's Stupid Dream or FOABP. First album of yours I listened to, disappointed to hear nothing apart from Halo from it on the recent tour. This is so exciting!
We won
Holy fucking shit!!
?
How about a tour in support of Deadwing Deluxe Edition? 😄 I was heartbroken not to hear any of the Deadwing songs (ok, except Halo) on a concert in 2022. It was still a great concert though.
Yeaaaaaaaaaaah, will it bring the Shesmovedon version?
Yes
Give us the rest of AIR studios PT come on! You didn't come to India at least let me see the AIR session please lol! 😂❤️
First one I ever heard 0:26
We want Deadwing (song) live video version not just a bunch of audios and remixes , you can't find it anywhere, why ?!
A song from my friend Fairlight:

Awesome song of a good album! I am just subscribed to your channel 💯🔔👍 Does Porcupine Tree respond?
When did Colin get that tattoo?
Great pre "visions of being a pop star" era of Steve Wilson and Company.
Love from Pakistan❤️
Uh, for some reason I'd never noticed the dissonance between John and Steven's vocals during the chorus of Arriving Somewhere (at 00:49 here). It actually sounds like they're out of tune 🤔
Please don't take this out of print if you can help it, I'm really interested but not presently within my means
I wish I could just buy a normal remaster that's not too expensive, but you literally can't get it anywhere. Not Amazon, not eBay...
I would check Bandcamp, if you're looking for digital only in good quality.
If Colin's in the documentary does that mean he might be coming back to the band in the future (next studio album?) because his absence was really felt in the new album and was the only thing that stopped me from truly loving it.
£65 though....
This feels ironic.. don't you think? 🙃
My least-liked PT album. And it started drawing in the hipster crowd too. Still, new PT content is always appreicated :)
Oof weak lol
Very expensive......
I only really liked ASBNH and Lazarus from this album. Not for me.
Why with that sucking blu-ray...?
More money...More money...More money...More money...More money...
