  • Another fun quilted card technique - you can find inspiration for quilted cards to make from any quilt.
See another video in this series here:
There are lots of plaids in this quilt and it has a more masculine feel than many quilts - so I had fun using the papers from the Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper, the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper, and even the Peony Garden Designer Series Paper. I cut 3/4" square and built my card according to the same pattern in the quilt, cutting the squares into triangles as needed.
Today I'm using a quilt from a garage sale --- one of my favorite ways of building my quilt collection.
Its such a sweet, but sad, story of meeting this quilter at her family's garage sale and realizing that no on in the family valued this treasure. I had a nice long talk with her and she was happy that her quilt was going to someone who loved it so much.

I LOVE THIS QUILT and the story behind it! I also am in love with the masculine card designs. My husband quilts and I think he would love a quilt card made with these colors and pattern! Thank you so much. 😊

Loved the cards, but most especially loved how you honored the quilt and its maker.

Beautiful story and quilt card. Not sure I’d have the patience for such tiny work but might give it a try. Thank you.

Love your quilt cards and this series. When I was a young adult I went to an auction with my grandpa. It was his cousin's estate auction. His wife was a quilter and there were many quilts. The quilts went for alot of money. There were many women crying because they wanted to bid on grandma's quilts but couldn't afford it. How sad and i never forgot it.

Thanks for sharing your story. Its sad those women couldn't bid on them if they were good friends of hers and would have valued the memory ---- but oh my, it shows that people appreciated the value of the quilts too!

Wonderful quilt....I do want too so my mom's quilt but it will be a challenge
You should get yourself xyron X..... Put all your pieces thru it. Then you can cut them in half or leave whole and peel off.... They're stickers then .

Karen, you should see the “Betty Boop” quilt that was my moms. Her name was Betty. She was in a quilt club for many years and every Lady from the club dressed a Betty Boop square and then it was put together and hand quilted. Truly a one of a kind.

Karen, What size are the little square quilt pieces? Love this idea and I can’t wait to try it! Did you make the pieces using a punch? Thank you!
