    Great video SJ! If I may...the numbers in the video are for BU quality coins (no wear) which are rarely purchased as "normal" junk silver (BU coins usually have a nice premium). The standard number used for coins with wear is .715. So take your face value dollar amount and multiply by .715 for the amount of silver . For example, $5 face is 3.575 oz of silver. Multiply that by spot price to see what you would be paying if you are paying spot. $64.35 in this example.

    You explained that very well. Helpful video friend. I always used .715 x spot for FV on 90% except dollars. I always assumed the ever so slightly less number was a general account for circulation wear on junk silver. Just got a tube of walkers from coinexchange on eBay. With eBay bucks it came out under spot. And they didn’t add tax.

    Love the channel Silver Joker! Just over the state line in PA here. So similar prices but we don’t get taxed on silver that WAS or IS for circulation. So Junk Silver is tax free here but just like you bars or bullion coins are. Typically dealers around here always go for .715 ounces per face value of a dollar because of typical wear. Have you found that in Ohio or is it closer to the original minting value of .723?

  • @HiPoint-ql3rs
    @HiPoint-ql3rs Před 4 lety +2

    Good info , also if buying a large amount of junk silver you might want to consider the amount of ware on coins because the weight of coins that you gave are with no ware for each denomination so one thousand dollars face with a lot of ware might not weigh that much

    I stopped buying junk silver by the dollar value, unless it is newer, My point is it should be sold by the ounce, kilo, pound, or whatever the weight is. I've gotten quarters that were short a full gram per coin from the wear and tear, and it still has refining costs! Everyone should have some, but I use the term loosely, and just for that emergency! Even collectibles will be melted in a shortage, and bullion will have a premium, if you can buy it with the currency of the month!
