Take it apart and show us what broke. Thanks Jeff. Have a good one!!
This is really impressive considering the price, etc. I saw the same thing done with a Lightning brand otf and it worked fine afterwards.
You may have bent the little steel tabs that locks the blade open and stops the blade retracting when stabbing/piercing. You should do an autopsy video and see what happened and if you can fix it.
yes please do
yes a follow up video will come taking it apart to inspect :)
Taiwan made lightning otfs are pretty much indestructible
X-Ring did torture tests on Microtech OTFs where he beat the hell out of them way beyond normal use & they held up fine. Hammered straight through wood & not one failure. He has since gone on to be an employee for the company, it's worth watching his tests they are quite impressive.
I'd like to own OTFs myself but unfortunately they are banned here in Australia.
Yeah I watched some of those torture test videos before buying one, really impressive durability.
I love it when people give stories and the follow up to it. Happy for him
Thank you 🙏 bro for doing this video .. a lot of people don’t know this - but most quality OTFS can take a beating .. they did a video way back of punching a Microtech Scarab into a steel oil drum 🛢️ lid .. pulled it out and it still functioned .
Hence why I own a Combat Troodon 😅
I bet the manufacturer would like to use this for their advertisement... 🤯
Old school, Italian 1960's OTF with 6 inch blade (pearl handle). Took like 90 lbs to load it. Press the knife up against any place on a body and it would drive it self in.
i believe it, single action otf are super powerful
Did anyone else thought Jeff was bringing out the hammer to stab IT?😂
have you disassembled the knife afterwards? would love to see what broke
Keep it up Jeff I’ve been watching you since I was 12 man I’m almost 26 NOW! Stay with it your long time viewers still watching my man!
😎👊🏼
Follow up video... pull that bad boy apart. See what broke and if it's fixable.
Dagger in the wood > Sword in the stone
If only it were a SOG
Cold steel vibes 😂
Hey Jeff, my OTF has been the CRKT M16-14SFG, I’m sure your aware of the knife, but I can’t remember if you’ve had one. It’s the only knife I carry, for a couple years now. Definitely check one out, they are excellent!!!!! I promise.
That was really impressive. Did you manage to take it apart and repair it? If not I’m sure if you send them this video they will be impressed too and help you out!
Ill post a video taking it ap[art soon
@@jacobpoucher I dont want to give it away but I did put it back together but it didnt help...
@@jacobpoucher haha most of the time :) I sometimes take pictures as I go if its something more complicated but these OTFs arent too bad to figure out
Thank you for making interesting videos.
awesome i would have thought it would fail after the first 2 hammer wacks this is why i love your content man not afraid to do the things people say wont work. i know it broke a bit towards the end but still it took a wackin lol
also id trust that way more than a liner lock ive had at least 2 liner locks close on my fingers and i now only carry small fixed blades. and jeff you are the reason i carry a minimalist, and a morakniv eldris now lol they are my 2 most favorite knives
It really depends if the lock is heat treated or durable enough i hade a cheap 3 dollar otf that broke on impact
Thank you your a true hero 🙏🏼
Nice demo!
should of just left it as a light duty fixed blade
Man.... you should have worn gloves with some grip for that it would have cut you bad if your hand slipped down! 😳 😢 🤷🏻♂️
Wow, I knew you could stab with them, but that is impressive. My state, still being weird about autos, but we did get constitutional carry, thank God!!!
Ive seen someone baton through wood with a microtech and it was fine.
I wanted to like my SE Ultratech more but find ny self enjoying my normal folders better. Knives like my Demko titanium Ad20.5, ZT 0562ti, Benchmade 940, and spyderco pm2 are just picked way more often then the Ultratech. Mayby its from habit but then again I don't even use them either most of the time because i typically have a traditional pocket knife (typically a stockman) on me for all but the heaviest of task.
Uh Jeff? That's not what that glass breaker is for.
Lmao! Jk!
Wow! I am impressed!!
This video gave me classic cutlerylover vibes; suddenly, I'm 14 and it's 2010 again
lol
As soon as I get my replacement spring for my microtech me and my brother will make a meat cut test video . Unfortunately I decided to take it apart so it’s out of commission
Take it apart and see what went wrong and film it for us. Just curious.
The only test that matters to me is does it go through kevlar?
Next video, open it up and see what happened!
6:00. If you would have retracted the blade, it prob would have yanked the tree root out of the ground. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
This reminds me of the time you broke the Cold Steel knife off in the tree or the time you wailed that Frost Cutlery fantasy blade into it until the handle shattered. There’s something wrong with you. 😂
lol
Man, that really sucks I can only hammer my otf into a tree half of a blade length in. Oh well, that’s still pretty good! Thank you! (Sarcasm intended)
Thanks for the video!
An after torture disassembly would be interesting, so as to find where it failed.
That was fun!
Tacknives must be very happy to this video.
I have doubts about otf knives. After watching this. Im gonna get otf knife
Otf became popular because of the movie john wick
This dudes for sure high if he thought it wouldn’t work after hammering it
I'd be worried about a chip from the hammer face going flying from being hit against the glass breaker.
thank you good sir
There's a couple torture tests of the microtech OTF that is absolutely amazing. They hammer it balls deep into asphalt and wiggle it side to side back and forth and still operational with no broken tip of the blade. Oh, that was after they stabbed it through a car hood about 5 or 6 times. I'm guessing the car hood was aluminum but that's still impressive.
Isn't this made under different company names?
Super surprised 👍
Considering the only time I'd be stabbing with my otf is in self defense....? it'll go as far as i need it to. 😉
That's exactly why I own and carry a microtech
And why?
Impressive
Harbor freight hammer?
Great video. I think it's obvious that an OTF is pretty much a self defense tool almost exclusively. Other than box opening and very light edc work.
Well I'd say lighter/medium duty cus he did whack on that thing pretty hard. But def not for anything heavier tasked that's for sure
Thank you for your stabbiness!
man these knife guys dont know what a knife fight actually looks like. let me get a hammer to simulate stabbing..... just keep it in the display cabinet please
It's not for hammering in wood that's very impressive. Most folders would break if you hammer in wood
Excalibur!
You can fix it just use a bigger hammer
No fun until tree stab back
thats why tress random fall on people...payback, LOL
Take it apart and fix it.
He killed the annoying orange 😧
fruit with mouths freak me out, hahah
@@cutlerylover the annoying orange world is hell for vegetarians
@@AlexMig 😊
It took? This guy 11. Minutes? To. Break a knife for what? To stab a tree I don't get it
I don't understand your comment because it's not an intelligent comment.
Cold steel vibes 😂
