    Finally! Hempcrete homes in WA!!😍😍 I first saw hempcrete being used years ago on an English show..Grand Designs?, At least, the host was the fellow from GD. I knew it was a keeper and a way forward. I would love a hempcrete home myself for all of the reasons given. Awesome, especially here in WA with bushfires. And it would be an extra income for farmers, especially in the off season with standard crops. Modern building is so slow and laborious. Dome houses could be made with this technique. With the housing crisis, this is a game changer.

    Beautiful home, I love how you kept some walls unclayed and others finished with the natural clay. There is a rammed earth look to the hemp walls that are beautiful. Is the house a passive haus? Here in the U.S. hempcrete and passive homes are beginning to get noticed. I’m hoping they will become standard home building practices and the new building codes for all future builds. Thanks for the video.🙏👌

    Can lime based render be used on the inside of the house along with the outside?

    • @margaretriverhempco5899
      @margaretriverhempco5899  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Yes, it can, but why would you bother as an extra expense? We have only done one room out of all the houses we have built, because the client wanted white walls for the baby's room.

    I'm curious, what was used for the structure? Hempcrete isnt known to be load bearing. Also, what happens if there is rain, the walls will absorb the water and retain it and the house will crumble?

    • @georginawilkinson7623
      @georginawilkinson7623 Před 4 měsíci +1

      A Wooden frame is built first then hempcrete is poured into the form work on the outside of the frame. We seal the outside with a natural clay render. Totally water proof👍

      The last home I built for the family was a split-level mud-brick one but that was more than 30 years ago now. 3,500 bricks formed with soil excavated from the bottom of our main dam and constructed most of the windows by hand + my trusty and now rusty Triton Mk 3. Back then there was heaps of 2nd-hand timber on hand. Bought all the Welsh roofing slate from a plumber at $1 each which I cut into 100x200mm tiles for the wet area walls. Was different era back then and I was young.@@margaretriverhempco5899

    • @jeanettenaumiec7784
      @jeanettenaumiec7784 Před 5 měsíci +1

      Bagged hemp or blocks of hemp create thermal bridges which decreases the efficiency of the hemp.
