- I went to the silver ghost town of Silver Reef, Utah to collect a sample of silver ore, and meet up with Cody of Cody's Lab to learn how to extract it. With some silver extracted I'll be able to continue my ongoing quest to make a photograph from scratch, and also my series are recreating currency through history.
Check out Cody's Lab for more videos on extracting silver and other metals!:

Today, getting what you need is as easy as a trip to the store. From food to clothing, energy, medicine, and so much more, Andy George will discover what it takes to make everything from scratch. His mission is to understand the complex processes of manufacturing that is often taken for granted and do it all himself. Each week he’s traveling the world to bypass the modern supply chain in order to harvest raw materials straight from the source. Along the way, he’s answering the questions you never thought to ask.

I love how Cody just has a Geiger counter in his pocket.
ya never know, lol
@@acidrink Scrolled for this...was the top comment.
There’s an easy way to tell and just to....
Casually pulls out Geiger counter.
It makes sense. What if he runs into uranium?
It's Cody tho. Of course he has one. I would be disappointed otherwise
This seriously needs to be picked up by a station and aired on TV.
No, TV ruins things
*pulls Geiger counter out of pocket casually*
Christian Salge haha lol
You don't have one in your pocket at all times?
Tbf that's a pretty Cody thing to have in your pocket at all times
This is Cody we're talking about, after all.
I live in Ukraine and this is very commen here
Brings a smile on my face at 1:06 to see 3 of my fav youtubers all in one shot hahaha, miss you Grant❤️ 😊👌
When I first saw the silver bar I was like oh cody posted something then I saw How To Make Everything and I was like oh hell yea
It was a bit shiny for a cody thumbnail :P
Your channel is one of the best in terms of content quality I've ever seen.
Kishore, that's one of my favorite things about this channel, is that they're almost always full TV quality!
In fact, they started as a small TV series, then came to youtube to have better creative control and liberty, and now they would even like to make another TV series!
Micah Philson good thing they did. TV industry is falling to shit. That's why the news media are attacking CZcams and CZcamsrs
It looks like something on tv too
6:55 the easiest way to tell is to get a Geiger counter *immediately pulls out a Geiger counter from codes endless pocket*
lmao
How to make everything + codyslab
This is amazing
Considering this video is largely based off stuff that happened last year, the forward planning that goes into each of these videos is mindblowing. Just imagine what has yet to be seen
If this guy applied for another job, his resume would be really long.
Skills:
**All** the things...
Still no professional experience on paper :P
Lolol
It would actually be rather short. Just a link to this channel would do the trick.
Interviewer: so what fields have you worked in
Andy: yes
A camera?! Even though its called "How to make everything", when the series started I didn't expect this much "everything"
Verlisify I think we were both expecting (And still waiting for) how to make lasagne from scratch
everything is everything. so far he can eat while making it and a lot of other stuff. i'm kinda interesseted about how he is filming this without making a cam.....
yeah at this rate he will be making a computer within the next few years
a primitive câmera is not that hard, actually. it can even be done with paper (the film itself is pretty harder). i'm thrilled to see what he'll come up with.
it's called "How to make everything", eventually we'll have "how to make an intergalactic spaceship"
I love seeing Cody on this channel. Your two channels have sometimes the perfect overlap for a collab!
You're finding raw materials and trying to work them down and isolate something to put in your product, and I mean that's like half of his channel at times!
I guess I can understand some of the liability issues with Cody's mine, but also seems a bit messed up that they wouldn't let him use it given they have worked together a few other times. Guess Cody didn't want to make the drive up to the farm to supervise.
Cody knows him but his family doesn't so, eh, kinda understandable.
it's not cody's mine, he has no authority to go against his parents (owners of the mine) decision.
Jacob, I think Cody does really own his mine, but I don't think that's the mine his family has found silver in.
The other mine would have been his father's, but yeah, it's definitely understandable they didn't want a stranger coming in and filming their property, showing where that mine was, taking their silver, and being a liability.
I mean, I don’t really understand why they didn’t let him, I don’t think he’s going to take that much silver, just enough to make a coin.
I'm glad the channel got the recognition it deserved! Great video as always.
Ditch the cookie sheet and use a cone bottom mold to pour your samples before the cupel step. It will capture a nice metal tip without glass and metal loss from it dripping all over the place.
An Ancient Spaceship Graffiti 5:47
very valuable
Truly unique indeed
Lol xD
Interesting.
*Quite Interesting indeed...*
Wow what a discovery
Great work! Note that silver is also used in solder, an easily-melted alloy used to join electrical connections or copper pipes/plates. Silver (and it's compounds) also have an antimicrobial effect (read: kills germs). Silver is close to gold in electrical conductivity and is sometimes used as an alternative to gold. Gold and silver will also alloy together to form electrum.
Pixl Rainbow This is it... welcome to the Electric Age
Silver has the best electrical conductivity amongst all elements (ignoring super conductors). Electronics only use gold because it does not corrode. Gold actually has a lower conductivity than copper and silver.
Tiny tiny amounts are used
An antimicrobial effect in vitro. Don't try to replace your Neosporin with it, kiddos.
Matthew Olsen yeah, usually it's use only for plating the contacts
the work you put into this video was insane! Bravo.
Dude, you need to have your own TV show!
Someone a Why? He gets more veiws on CZcams than he could on a TV show, plus the TV station would force him to fake some things
Oh....I didn't know that....
Funny thing, this actually started out on TV! But due to the terrible time constraints (this is one kind of project you can't really rush) and wanting more creative control and more direct access to fans and their opinions, they moved to youtube.
However, they actually would like to make another TV series now! They're having trouble getting it picked up for now, but it would essentially be more food-focused content exactly like they've made before!
Oh, but if you go to their Tools playlist, the early videos were actually from that local TV series! The casting metal part was really hurt, though, because of those time constraints, and they really had to rush it and even sort of work around that entire part of the project, which they hated to do. That was one of the biggest reasons they decided to move to youtube.
Well said Micah! Thanks for filling folks in!
There are some people who make TV worthy shows on a place that anyone can get to.
Like this guy.
I applaud you.
Silver Reef is where I take my family to picnic sometimes. Awesome!
The amount of effort that goes into each video is great! This channel deserves at least a million subscribers 👍
I've long thought they were criminally underrated, HTME is one of the hardest working channels on youtube, and it really shows in the amazing TV-like quality of every video!
Well its above 1 mil now .
This is amazing! I admire how much time and work you put into your projects, good luck on the camera
this is awesome. literally ages of empire style progression. Also, Cody seems so different when he's not the main host of a video. seems so much more subdued.
Am I the only one who wants to do what Andy does everyday??? He's living the LIFE!!
This was fantastic Andy! Keep up all the hard work, it's really paying off in the entertaining and informational content of these new videos!
This channel and content is so well documented and edited, it's fun and exciting (and a little addictive) watching each and every episode. I'm glad I found this channel recently. Keep up the good work!
I love the jumping around this channel does, it never feels like we never get complacent with a single topic or idea and instead get a wide variety of content with a similar theme. It kinda reminds me of brave wilderness because of that. Really puts across how many projects you have going at the same time.
I love this concept of how to build tech from scratch. This is the ultimate prepping
Silver, finally! I love the concept of these videos, great work!
I just realized you have almost 800k subscribers. I subbed when you were doing all of the brewing stuff, no idea how many subs you had then, but wow, you've got a lot more now lol.
Jelly Man I swear like two months ago u had 200k subs
And it's well deserved!
He deserves millions!
I had always heard about them on and off, but only really started following them late last year and became a devoted follower, and even since just then, the channel has really started growing!
I subbed on the first videos and I was like "how can he be profitable?" and now he is.
How am I just now finding this channel... this is easily the best channel on CZcams....
I'm loving the inclusion of drone shots. They're very well done; tastefully edited and included.
Your video is getting exciting day by day😍😍😍😍
I agree
Codyslab hurray
I love seeing CZcamsrs getting together. Especially when I'm fans of both of them.
This show rules!! I really appreciate the style and format. This is beyond some of the best CZcams quality out there.
Loving the videos. And to think you wanted another host. You're doing great.
I Love your channel Andy,I'm glad that I discovered your channel
You’re persistence is admirable. You’re awesome. I am glad I found your channel through KoR.
I’m astonished at the development of your channel and to be able to see how much knowledge you’ve been collecting with every video you make! I really enjoy watching your videos!
I would like to appreciate the hard work you are doing and uploading hours of work to CZcams. Bravo, and hats off to you sir. I'll watch your videos for my birthday today.😁
Happy birthday!
Or are you saying it's not your birthday, but you're going to celebrate today anyways because they uploaded a video and it feels like your birthday? ;)
Micah Philson 😅 it's really my birthday today. I turned 16.
The amount of hard work you put into every video is quite inspiring keep up the good work bro!
As soon as you started looking for a cave I thought about Cody. nice work Thanks for sharing
Very cool to see the chemistry involved in this process; great collab!
Looks fun and good job👍
Nice more frequent uploads without any loss in quality!
Gotta love Cody. Glad you still seek his knowledge.
It is always interesting seeing other people experiment with black and white film photography, one of my favorite things to do.
Please, please, please if you go under ground wear a hardhat at the very least. It is so easy to get injured in mines and caves. Used to take scouts (Explorers) caving every year. Safety first.
lol he didn't
Or take a 30 hour MSHA class.
too late
Voivod 1966 did u bring 12 Thai kids into a cave?
How to make a corpse
Bro I love the intro!
Love These videos!!!! They are so good and educational! I always love to sit down and watch one.
You can see it in Cody's eyes how much he loves the things he does here
6:56 Classic Cody having a geiger counter in his pocket.
Love the videos bro! Keep it up!
Wow. Just incredible. The quality and amount of work in this video is just amazing.
The dedication you guys put into each video is admirable.
Loving the new intro!
Can't wait to see how you're going to make your coinage. I have brass and aluminum that I want to make into some fantasy coinage for gaming.
As a Canadian I would love to see you make some Canadian Whiskey. Although technically to call it Canadian Whiskey you would have to mash, ferment and age it in Canada.
Didn't expect to see you here. RIP Grant. I always loved your videos.
Excellent, Andy! I've been looking forward to this video.
Early squad! Keep up the work and projects! I learn so much from them😍
yee yee
I dunno how recent that human activity was, look at that pepsi cup lmao, straight outta the 90's
I think at 6:06 you can see relatively fresh blood on the top left corner. Might still be recent.

This colab content with Cody'slab is gold
I just wanted to say thank you so much for always doing your best and putting all your effort into making this type or content.
This channel is just amazing
TheCharbeeClub l
and very soon there will be other CZcamsrs dying to collaborate with you...I think it would be a dream come true for many fans if you could collaborate with the primitive technology guy ( the original one).
Intex Cloud S9 theres only one primitive technology guy. The others are people doing dumb shit in their backyard with their shirt off
That would be pretty awesome, though it would likely take some planning due to the fact that a trip to Australia would have to warrant more than one project.
Intex Cloud S9 yea good idea
I've been here since you made your suit and it's been awesome to see the channel grow. Its super awesome that the obsidian video went viral, you guys really deserve it for all the hard work you put into these videos. You're on a track for a million
I'm really enjoying this channel very much. Keep up the great work.
In the semi-distant future - making a simple computer from scratch
I mean it's not that hard
It would be infinitely easier with relays.
Yay another high quality video!!
Edit: I have an Idea: Uranium from scratch (ft. Cody)
Bruno Santos radioisotope thermoelectric generator or radioisotope photoelectric generator from scratch
Was hoping I got a little in what I collected, but Cody proved that wrong
How To Make Everything saddly
First, you need a star to die, and then wait a few million years.. It might take him a while to upload
Cody already has a video on turning uranium ore into metal
Andy, you're amazing!
I LOVE this series of vids sooooooo much!!💕
Make a primitive lightbulb!!!
5:47 demonetised 😂
The power of scale! Nicely done!
Awesome quality you have amazed me time and time again
But the big question here is... Can you cast Silver??
lol
I cast silver ones with a school project.
DANIELMAND DK CAN YOU DO THISS?¿?
DANIELMAND DK, lol I just commented that, I should've expected a comment like this
the second question in can u cast mud
Awesome!
Justin Y. Shoo you’re everywhere
Do you get a silver play button?
HUSJ PÅ DEG SJÆL!
I'm guessing your aware of the Justin T. channel?
hey Justin how old are you
So happy to see your obsidian video go so well. Hopefully that's brings in some more people into this great channel
This video was truly awesome, I loved the little beads of silver
why does cody casually carry a geiger counter?
You don't?
The real question is why wouldn't he.
Make youtube put this on everyone’s recommended.
You are living my dream! Thanks for the video! I LOVE silver....Ag!!!
Wow! This guy is dedicated! Well done!
12:31 Pure PANIC! Lmao
How to make these great quality videos
man.., cody's such a good dude. what a lovable weirdo.
Very cool video. Love Silver.
What a surprise, the internet has easy access to salt.
I wonder if this vid will blow up as well...
[InsertChannelNameHere] it will
This is some super amazing stuff that you're doing, keep it up!
This was way more informative and awesome than I expected! keep it up
5:47 😂😂😂
The vandalism and pepsi
Now extract the silver from an Obsidian sword.
omg that is so awesome seeing the pure metals just separate when poured out. never seen that before.
5:48 insta-demonitization
*_CAN YOU CAST OBSIDIAN??!?!??!!?_*
Oscar Armstrong no Alex steel tried.
Oscar Armstrong DAMN IT I THOUGHT OF THAT TOO
The king of random tested check his channel
The Giga Tamer hi its a joke
Yes you can cast it but it’s shit
Thanks for the hard work and the knowledge.
I am so glad I found this channel. It's super interesting! I want to try and do all this stuff too.
Very weird Cody wouldn’t let you use he’s mine
Don B I would imagine his family that owns the land wouldn't want to open the floodgates if HTME grabbed some silver which would lead to more people to ask, and even owning the property, I am not sure if there are any mineral right laws behind it as well even though it doesn't seem the family or Cody has had any problems.
Edit: And potential property damage and safety concerns with someone who isn't knowledgeable in the field. I'm sure they wouldn't want to be held responsible.
Probably wouldn't want to deal with a law-suit if he got hurt. I would've made the same choice
his parents did not cody would've said yes
LOL Cody still lives with Mommy and Daddy? BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Felix, no, he doesn't, but he does go back to their ranch all the time to work on things, plus that's where his mine is and most of his tools and stored chemicals and metals. Because it's a gigantic ranch, they have space for that stuff there.
