Thank you for explaining this parable. I was confused why Jesus didn't answer her at first but now I understand Jesus was probably waiting for his disciples to take action and when they didn't he stepped in to help this woman and in the process taught the disciples a lesson of acceptance and inclusion of the gentiles. Those who have faith will be rewarded by the glory of God.

people get easily offended when they hear dog but the term is one of endearment like of a beloved family pet who will get fed in due time but not before the children the woman asked wisely for a crumb and Jesus granted it her notwithstanding she would get a full meal once the children had been fed as every beloved pet is assured of.
Jesus is the Master of the Universe...He created the matrix and he only knows how to repair and maintain it.

Jesus understood the woman had read Isaiah and the light would be given to the gentiles if the children first refused. So the two were talking on a different level and Jesus was testing her faith and understanding using a play of words.
