The UK left the EU and they are no longer big players on the economic front. That's the real point.
Ireland is hugely influencial in the US. Politics work in Ireland but don't work in the occupied northern counties. That's the cost of a forced union.

It is funny that someone in the panel mentioned that Biden is proud of his roots. When he became the President, a bunch of history enthusiasts in India sent him evidence to show that one of his ancestors ended up in Madras as a part of the East India company and is buried in a church there. They were excited about the findings, poor souls. They were disappointed that he never expressed any interest in his ancestry. Is he so proud of his roots that his family have never even visited Ireland? This trip is nothing more than a trip vested full of business interests and nothing to do with the people of Ireland sadly.

Especially given that he's brought two family members along because "they've never been before" while he's supposed to be on a state visit to mark the 25 year anniversary of the signing of the Good Friday Agreement.
He is not giving a press conference and its clear his visit and the coverage its getting is serving as a distraction from much more serious and important geopolitics.
