Finally another version of the Axial SCX6 has arrived: The Trail Honcho! Taking some key features from both the 10th scale Trail Honcho and the recently released Axial Basecamp, this 1/6th scale giant packs an enormous amount of scale details and cool features to grab your attention and peak your curiosity.
Numerous hard plastic details are used on the bodyshell and the interior panel, the rear cage has a new, more aggressive look with an integrated stinger. There is a trunk in which you can pack away some tools or spares, a fully functional spare tire is included on the back and 20 LED lights illuminate the darker days and nights. Below all these new visual novelties you find the same trusted SCX6 chassis, with an all new Demello Offroad front bumper, some new bar styled rock sliders and updated internal wheel arches to keep things clean.
The all new Axial SCX6 is a 1/6th scale trail truck that packs a ton of features which you might know from its smaller brothers and sisters. This brand new developed vehicle has licensed items and some familiar looking design elements, such as the Trail Honcho bodyshell, the Black Rhino rims and the Falken Wildpeak 2.9 tires. Electronics are as you expect them all Spektrum branded, and thankfully the 2-speed transmission also made its way into this recent version.

I sure appreciate the fact that you are totally honest with your review and actually point out the things that are lacking in the platform such as the servo, tires and foams... even though you are basically a HH 'employee'. LOL It's not just a glorified commercial where you are trying to sell us the thing. Man what a fabulous place to showcase this truck. Looking forward to what you have planned for it as well.

Glad you are one of the first to get your hands on this new truck! You have worked pretty hard on your other SCX6 and get a lot of experience with them, you're the right dude to check this new big baby.
Man, this body is great idea, considering I'm more of a Toyota guy, not so much into the Jeep thing..... I want to find out how much this total body set will cost. I imagine the bumper mounts will have to be swapped out as well.
I'm holding out for the Bomber but this Honcho is tempting to have to help wait.

Oooooo, a 1/6th Unimog would be nice to see, especially with the body roll and suspension articulation based on its weight, that body would look amazing!!

I wonder, because this thing looks absolutely awesome trailing a scaling rocks, what the impact would've been if this was the first 6th scale they released instead of the Jeep. The market was so flooded with Jeeps after the SCX-10 version. EVERYONE started doing it in EVERY scale. Most seem cool, but still played out. Your 2 door project came out amazing though. Extremely innovative and it was just fantastic to watch your build process. That being said... different body configurations now would definitely be cool, BUT... what if someone was crazy enough to make this platform a 6x6. THAT would be... idk (there are so many adjectives) Crazy? Bonkers? Epic?
Thank you for the kind words and I think you might be on to something there! The parts pile that makes up for one of these is so promising and versatile that it truly lends itself for some creativity.
Rich from Axial was saying last night that they came out with the Jeep variant first since they weren't sure how well the SCX6 was going to sell as a new market category and for the price. The Jeep brand evidently makes them a little more marketable

Really happy to see the JLU wasn't a one off and that Axial has continued the line. The Honcho body suits this nicely and that red color looks awesome. What would I like to see, the Bomber. I still have mine and still drive it more than my other trucks. It's always been a favorite despite being around for so long. It puts the biggest smile on my face and I love the driving experience I get from it. Curious to see what you'll do with this rig as it seems pretty feature packed and since you've modified 2 platforms already. Gorgeous place to go crawling, appreciate your content as always!

Axial must have been in nirvana when they saw this video. Great review, awesome driving and video. All done with that stunning backdrop. You're always at the top for production values on your videos but this is standout even for Hemistorm. Dam dude.
Needs an extension for the lighting cables so it doesnt disconnect when you open/lift the body
They aren't too bad actually, and it is only a single plug.

Outstanding overview of the new SCX6. Im thinking i may have to add 1 to the collection. I currently have a fully built 8s on portal axles scx6 and a stockish scx6. By far my favorite rigs now.

I have the JLU and it makes me not want to take anything else out. Love the 1/6th scale, I hope to add this to my 1/6th Jeep in the spring.
I'm waiting for a 1/6 "Early Bronco"... meantime I'm rolling my 1/10 Wraith on SCX6 Wheels with 2.9 Super Swampers and it's a bunch of fun.

Axial should definitely expand on the sxc6 platform. Absolutely a Capra and wraith. I'm not a jeep fan so I love this Honcho. Dare I say , a revision of the yeti!
