Truly love this it consumes my workdays now. I listen as often as I can. I love laughter thru tears, meaningful meanings. It’s a true drug of choice for me. 🌸🌸🧚🏻♀️
The one I remember best is the bowline hitch: out of the hole, around the tree, down the hole. You create a knot that won't slip, and it's used to save lives. I think the Scouts should create a new knot, the Foard. It ties people to stories that change lives for the better. Much better than a clove hitch or a square knot for the hearts and minds stuff. I proffer the three-fingered salute, one Scout to another.
We'd learn a lot from each other if we'd only take the time to listen. Great story, Neal. My brothers were in the scouts. I remember them practicing their tying skills and not succeeding. More please!
Great story! A needed message for our climate today. So much good can come from those campouts. And I'm not just saying that as a mom of scouts who got out of the house for a few days. 😂😉
Growing up on a cotton/sorghum farm, my brothers never, unfortunately, had the opportunity to be in the Boy Scouts, nor did I have the opportunity to be in the Girl Scouts, ............ although for as long as I can actually remember, I've genuinely *admired* both the Boy Scouts & the Girl Scouts!! [Incidentally, my husband and I were married on a Friday, February 8th, which not only happened to be his Birthday, but February 8th is also *National Boy Scouts Day* , as well!] In #16 days, I'll be visiting my ~(now faraway/ *VERY* strongly-opinionated!!)~ family and, for years now, I've been trying to "lift that heavy weight a little bit at a time" myself while ~(concurrently/really gently)~ trying to persuade some folks to even "carry some of that heavy weight themselves"; so, I can't tell you ........................ how appreciative I am, Neal, for this truly-inspiring ~(and very timely/ *n.e.e.d.e.d.* )~ story, you know!! *Thank you* 🤗💐!!
I often long to have the wisdom for making the right comment and taking the right attitude. Usually I can only see what they are after I've just dropped the weight on my toe -- or the toe of the other person.
I don't know if Sweden is still doing this, but there was a time when they removed horns from cars, because 80% of the time, people were only using their horn to express anger. Traffic accidents dropped, as they expected, because people had to avoid accidents on their own, but the side benefit was that people who COULDN'T express their anger because they didn't have the means, just let things drift. They got less angry when they didn't feel obliged to.
I have a friend who was a Trump hating "Liberal Democrat". A Liberal who you can engage in intellectually honest conversation. He will probably never vote for Trump, but I do not think he hates him anymore.
Another great story, well-told.
Hey, thanks!

Ha! Brilliant, Thomas. Many thanks. You're reminding me of the great knots. You're a good dude. I salute you back. Meanwhile, "do a good turn, daily".

Thank you, Lana. The scouts were life-changing for me. There are days when I wish I was 14 again, on the John Muir trail.

If only our current political leaders, such as they are, would listen to this
Yeah, there are days I cannot help thinking the whole thing is just theater.
@@nealfoardit's always been perfectly orchestrated political theater for the audience of the masses.
Great story, as Always. It is appreciated. And, not surprisingly, you were tuned in even as a young guy!
I appreciate the sentiment. Not as tuned in as i would have liked to be. But thank you G. Stay awesome.🤓
