I retired in 2022. Invested in Mota haathis. Some portion in BM vision & some in mutual funds. Have been investing since 2019 and had been studying the market since 2014. Presently happy with my portfolio. One thing I learnt is to be patient & not to panic. Finally the market will rise albeit slowly but surely.

Things appear strange right now. The value of the US dollar is declining due to inflation, but it is increasing in comparison to other currencies and commodities such as gold and real estate. People are flocking to the dollar because they believe it is safer. I'm worried that rising inflation will cause my $420,000 in retirement funds to lose value. What else could we do with our money?
Personally, I would say have a mentor. Not sure where you will get an experienced one, but if your knowledge of the market is limited, it seems like a good bet.

Pranam sir, sorry you are wrong in your view of age because I started investing in the share market at the age of 48 investing randomly and lost 50% in 2020 fall.But I started learning with my little knowledge and gained within one year the money I lost and at the age of 55 I have started doing fundamental analysis and now I am confident that I will never loose money that's only because of you that I stopped selling stocks which r good and fundamental rather I started buying more at lows, since three years I am doing trading as well as investing, that too without psus and adani stocks,thank you sir

Sir, question from The Thoughtful investor - accounting sins are washed after the bull market ends. But in a bear market the stock price is already going down so wouldn't that be a double whammy for the stock price? Also, sometimes the market ignores bad news during a bull run, correct? After retirement , I am fulltime in stock market. It takes time to get a grip. For the first 2 years only a small capital is used but try to learn all aspects. Then decide what works for you. Everyone is different.

I retired at the age of 50 but I was already in stock market. I did intra day, f/o , option selling etc. was lucky to make some money. But I wud like to tell the new retiree’s pls do only investment and do proper allocation. My allocation is 60 in equity and rest in fixed income. Learning is fun enjoy it. Do not be greedy or fearful just be balanced and u will win 👍

You are absolutely right about Mohandas Pai and Nilesh Shah. Both bhakts but differ in degree. I once commented on an interview of Nilesh where he acted as if he didn't understand the question of the interviewer and went off on a tangent and then I was trolled by his band of followers who are willing to pounce.

Sir Ji, I am confused about your terminology, " PE expansion" Please explain the reasons for the PE expansion. Is it due to fundamentals or market rigging.
It could be due to the company's good performance (reflected in steady profit growth) OR market froth (low growth but high hype by operators trapping gullible investors). That's why Basant says you should invest in companies showing actual growth (profits, cash flows), rather than only inflated PE (froth).

When Narayan Murti made a comment about working 80 hours per week, the talk in my circle was if Indian IT companies were encouraging modern slavery. It did raise a number of ethnical issues here in west.
People in different countries have different priorities and requirements. If we want to raise the standard of living in our country, we need to put in extra hard work and probably extra time also. Narayan Murthi's life is sorted, one can safely assume that whatever he is advising is for the good of people with no self interest.

For example- if you know child labour is used in producing the product you are buying, or someone is forced to produce your food or made work double shift but paid for only one, would your conscious allow you to consume it?
Mr Murthi’s comment was irresponsible, unsustainable and impractical. If you want to improve productivity, you should create more jobs, train more people rather than what he was proposing.
@@sumitbansal. We should not be assuming that Narayan Murthy was encouraging any malpractice. I have myself worked very hard in my youth and that has really helped me progress. After my 8-6 job, I worked 3-4 hrs in the evening and that helped me set up my own business which otherwise would have been difficult to set up. I could see the benefit of of working hard. Everybody has a choice, to work hard or not. And each will reach the destination based on the choices he or she makes.
