I finally did the buy once cry once finally. After going through several.. including Tamiya.. I finally bought a pair of God hands. They were expensive but cutting parts free is now one of my favorite things to do. But this should be very beneficial for everyone.

I have been using these for years. They are awesome. They stay sharp for years too.

I think it will come down to the material quality.
I will buy these because my old , 10year old plus Game Workshop cutters are not sharp now.
Thanks for demonstrating the difference between them !

I got a couple of $5 sprue cutters. And I bought a couple $8 & $14 sprue cutters. The cheaper ones work better. I haven't tried the single blade cutters yet.

The blue ones from the video were 2$ and they are absolutely adequate. But the single cutting jaw are better IMO

I bought a regular cutter, made in Germany, for 4.50€, and it's really good.

For the small parts, in order to be safe, I cut away from the part, and then I use a blade or sandpaper to remove the remaining plastic.

Never used Ali express before, also ordered a nice looking (we’ll see!) set of panel line scribes with handle for $9.

What you can find on Amazon most you can find on aliexpress but without the mark-up.

These look very close to Tamiya Sharp Pointed Side Cutter NO.123 (74123), which are my favorite side cutters. However, they cost close to $30 USD. I wonder how long the edges would stay sharp. Seeing that EVERYTHING comes out of China these days its hard to deny the $5 clone would not work just as good but the longevity and metal quality is what will probably be the determining factor of Good or Not Good

It is very possible the more expensive tool ro be more durable. On the other hand I have seen plenty of images where the tamiya cutter snaps at the base of the jaw. So the may be delicate... the look a lot finer.

You know, Andrew. Sometimes it's the same factory tooling for different companies. I had the privilege of buying a Chinese eight-string mandolin in 2008 and was amazed at the quality they had put into it. Turned out it was the same instruments factory producing mandolins for... Fender. As time passes, you can put Chinese products in two fairly distinctive fields. Rubbish or keeper. There are very few in-betweens.

No matter what. I Recommend you spend the money on expensive tools. I'd rather spend 60/70 bucks on a pair of godhand sprue cutters[I have the blue and red handle pairs] then buy a couple new kits, as it allows you to do less cleanup.

I get your point and support it to an extent... however there is a but. In my opinion it just like the whole save the planet thing... there are transactions so much greater than a sprue cutter that one persons or the whole modeling community's contribution becomes marginal. Besides I have no domestic options so I am importing anyways.
