    Great review. Helped me in my decision to purchase. Went with the 15L. Worked great for riding the 243 miles on the Katy Trail in 6 days. Held my clothes and sandals just fine. Love, love, love the air release valve on the inner dry bag. The outer bag is water resistant. Even so I sprayed it with camping water repellent spray for extra protection. With the rain shower and misting we encountered, it worked great, water beaded up on the bag and everything was dry inside. Having the extra space in the larger bag was appreciated when I needed to pack my tights and jacket after it warmed up. When not full, I rolled it tight and cinched it down. No problems either way (full or not). Highly recommend. Get one. I think you’ll love it too!

      So you would suggest to go with 15 instead of 10?

    I got the same bag for king Alfred's way last summer. Was very pleased with it, the ability to leave the outer bag on the bike and take the clean inner bag into the tent worked really well.

    Looks like a nice bit of kit, I really like the easy access dry bag system. Looking forward to seeing it in action and hope it serves you well.

    Yes great bag! Bought one over a year ago due to budgeting & bike supply shortages and have to say I was so happily surprised. Great construction, good seams/stitch work at points of stress. The external material is not waterproof, but with the internal drybag it's not an issue. I use Grangers performance repel spray on the external material and it does the job in my wet rainy part of the world. The air valve on the internal drybag is amazing. Wish the bottom taper was a little bigger in diameter, but allows to put extra dirty clothes or other in the bag along with the dry bag. Once cinched up tightly I notice hardly no bag sway even fully loaded using the external cords fully loaded up. Best bike accessory related purchase I had bought in a while. Fully recommend even for shorter riders like myself where tire clearance in an issue.

    Great bag. I've had one for a few years and it's 2-section design has been very useful - as is the bungee cord. Have only used the side 'pockets' for the ends of the straps.

    Great bag run one for years in all weathers without issue, the internal bag is great and can really compress down what’s in it using the air valve like a vaccuum

    100% recommend the Alpkit Exo-Rail seat pack metal support saddle rail. Once fitted, it allows you to strap any seat pack firmly secured without the waggle/sway. It really takes the stress from the seat pack straps/stitching and as a plus you can strap another dry bag on top of it ✌️

    • @wojciechgregorkiewicz2415
      @wojciechgregorkiewicz2415 Před 2 lety +1

      I second that. For the extra 200g the Exo-rail from Alpkit adds a lot of stability to the seat pack. I use mine with the dedicated Alpkit seat pack which has a neat sleeve for the rail to go into.
      What pack are you using yours with?
      I had a closer look at the Topeak bag before buying the Alpkit system. Topeak is a great product but I was worried about stability. Now while Alpkit is very stable it is not easy to pack and remove from the bike. So perhaps combining the Topeak with the Exo-rail would give the best of both systems.

    • @KeepSmilingAdventures
      @KeepSmilingAdventures  Před 2 lety +2

      For me the alpkit exo rail seems a bit to much of a faff as I do switch between bikes quite often and having to remove the saddle would annoy me, especially then having to get it in the correct position each time, it would also visually annoy me if I was riding without a bag, if I wanted extra stability I’d probably go down Blackburns universal seatpost pack route, quite a bit more money though, but to be honest I’ve never had an issue with feeling the bags are moving to much.

      @@KeepSmilingAdventures Very good point. I don't go bikepacking nearly as often as you do 😞 so installing the rail didn't seem that big an issue.
      But you're right it can be a lot of faff. So in the end I just got a new saddle for the carbon seatpost I use for road and light gravel and I installed the old saddle on an alloy post with the rail attached for bikepacking and more adventurous gravel use.

    Very interesting. I had a look at it recently and ended up getting the Giant H2Pro bag. primarily as it was a little larger. As someone who is very familiar with the fabric and their performance your review is pretty spot on. And even if the fabric is rated as "waterproof" the seams are not... if a bag is not seam sealed it will leak regardless of the waterproof material it is made of. Your comment about the lightness of the inner bag is correct. Take care with the bag and take care not to over stuff it as the seam tape can separate from the seam easily and then the inner bag won't be waterproof. For my purposes I like the idea of this one for regular commuting. The only thing that annoys me (and this is an aesthetic rather than functional although I will be interested to hear your thoughts) the outer bag rolls in such a manner that will tend to hold water rather than shedding it, which is likely to get into the inner portion of the bag. By rolling the other way (so the water will drop off the lip of the roll) this ponding is completely avoidable and a better method of closure.

    separating your wet stuff by putting it between the dry bag and actual bag is pretty genius. Never thought about trying that out.

    I purchased a midsize version to hold sleeping bag in the sealed dry bag and than I place rain gear next in bag as easy to get excess yet sleeping bag is kept dry. 0:04

  • @wojciechgregorkiewicz2415

    It may be worth mentioning (or have I missed that?) that the internal dry bag has an air valve. At least mine had. This lets you compress the bag letting all the air out. Once compressed the internal bag is 2/3 of the size of the external portion of the pack. So there's lots of room to add more items.
    I would perhaps prefer the internal bag was a little bit larger. But hey. It's a great bag by the look of it. I returned mine and went for an Alpkit system with Exo rail mount.

      Yeah I did mention it, I did however forget to mention they do a smaller one 6L one and also a 15l one though. But 10l is about right for me and it’s kind of 10l completely dry storage and 2 litres extra storage if you don’t mind it potentially getting damp. I will do a follow up video after I have used it ✌️

      @@KeepSmilingAdventures Its one of these features that makes you think why isn't everyone doing that.
      Equally would be great to be able to buy a drybag like this separately.
      Will be curious to see how you find this bag perform in your numerous adventures!

    • @KeepSmilingAdventures

      There are quite a few dry bags with it nowadays but they are mostly not tapered for saddle bags unfortunately. I was hoping to find a dry bag that would fit my old Blackburn seapost pack as they don’t do replacements dry bags on there own. But couldn’t find anything, although I think the inner bag of this pack might actually fit it quite nicely so might have got lucky. But yeah they should sell replacement dry bags on their own.

    Got this since two years. Pretty good, but a hole came because of the material rubbing on the seat post. I have put a piece of tube with glue on it and now all good. They should make this thicker. Watch out, I first saw it when it was already 1cm wide.

    Do you have an idea on how much clearance this bag takes up? I'm a short rider and this bag looks promising for what i'm looking for thanks.
