I used to play Destroy All Humans because I was too young to get San Andreas and I convinced my mom it was PG.

Really a great remake, reminded me of all the things I wanted them to innovate on that were awesome mechanically in this and the second game though. Hope the second gets a remake and that paves the way for some new titles under this IP with INNOVATION.

@Hyrule409 fair enough. When I think of a remaster I think of enhanced ports. Like Banjo Kazooie on rare replay or other games like that. If all the assets intend to recreate the old thing and are new that falls under remake to me. This game just went for the faithful remake approach that SpongeBob did, and I don’t think that being faithful doesn’t mean it isn’t a remake.

Edit: I have quickly realised after a google search that I played Mercenaries: World in Flames on the xbox 360, not Playground of Destruction. Still had loads of fun playing it though.
Someone just needs to bring Pandemic Studios back from the past. I am still holding some lingering sadness over how EA and Dice butchered the Star Wars Battlefront games. EA was just too damn proud of themselves and ass-deep in greediness to just do what THQ and Black Forest Games did here, just updating the graphics, effects and models to the current era, maybe polishing up some mechanics and the UI a bit, and keep everything else the same. Its not so hard to do, but apparently according to mainstream business practices it is. Because everything now must require microtransactions, multiplayer services, constant internet connection to play a game on a disc, etc

It's because publishers keep fucking up the definitions of the words. One publisher will completely recreate all the art, animations and rewrite the graphics pipeline and call it a remaster instead of a remake for some reason (Activision keeps doing this, COD4 remaster for example) and another will remaster something and call it a remake just because they upped the resolution and added 20 minutes of new content.
As usual, marketing departments keep muddying the waters and causing confusion on the meanings of what should be simple to understand terms
I remember staying at the beginning of the first level just twirling cows around with the UFO. For some reason it entertained me for literally hours.
I've been having so much fun with the remake, the writing is still pretty funny to me with all the red scare jokes, and having infinite SKATE turns the game into Cryptosporidium Pro Skater

fun fact, i never played this growing up but had vaguely heard of it / seen it in passing kind of thing. went my whole life with the concept shelved in my brain, labelled as a kids game. really tripped me out watching the clips of charlie playing because of that. went from "that line of dialogue kinda pushed it" to "O H" real fast.

I'm really happy with these throw back games. I've been playing Red Faction Gorilla remastered and still love it. Still just as great as when it came out.
I replayed the original coming up to the release of the remake and there is a few features that have changed making the game alot easier mainly telekinetic powers and weapon damage radius increase but still really fun with how updated it all is

I've been having a blast with it, thinking of digging out my ps2 and replaying the original after I've finished it
God damn, I remember this gem. Blockbuster nonstop advertised the game in its stores and that's what led me to it.
TLOU2 is gonna be the worst game this year compared to masterpieces like this.

My favourite part when I was younger was launching people with telekinesis and them just getting stuck in environments and just spazzing out. I’m glad they kept that and it’s still fun as hell

I remember being in 8th grade so stoked for my mom to take me to gamestop so I could get this in 05. RIP pandemic studios. An original "mercenaries" remaster would be sick if it was faithful.

Honestly would love to see Black Forest make a new destroy all humans installment thats takes place after patf. After they remaster the 2nd game though because the 2nd game was superior in every way to the first and a remake of the sequel with the same graphics of this remaster would be a beast.

I didn’t get to play this when it was out originally but the remake has a nice modern look while the gameplay has that old school style feel.
That's pretty cool that they basically remade it instead of just editing the .ini file to make it 1080p and selling it.
