    My favorite Cauldrons would probably have to be Sydney & Londons. Sydney because of the combination of water & fire, epically creative. London because the Cauldron represented everything that the Olympics is, the coming together of all nations, executed in such a peaceful and beautiful way.

    What about Greece?!?!?! the birthplace of the Olympic Games! this is OUTRAGEOUS!! Greece should have been mentioned BEFORE showing the rest of the cities which hosted the games afterwards; such as Beijing and London! Olympic Games 2004 in Greece was a historical and magical moment for us because the Olympics returned home! This whole event which brings the world together as one, begun first and foremost in GREECE. this well known fact should never be forgotten!

      You're were right, but The one who created the Olympic games was Charles Pierre de Frédy French educator and historian, founder of the International Olympic Committee, and its second President. He is known as the father of the modern Olympic Games.

      The modern olympic games are a joint Greek-German invention. Greece was ruled by German royals back then and the German Oktoberfest (the way it has been back then - not a "beer festival") was the role model for the new olympic games.

    The way the torch was lit at the Beijing Olympics brought tears to the eyes of every Chinese. The process of Li Ning holding the torch and running around the field symbolizes the unremitting struggle of the Chinese people, sadness and pride.

    I like watching athletes, but nothing can compare to watching flame being carried by thousands of people and then lit in a spectacular way. My biggest dream is someday be a torchbearer...

      Mine as well. It’s my lifelong dream to be an Olympic Torchbearer. I have been dreaming about it since I was 9. I was watching the Seoul 88 opening ceremony and told my mum I wanted to carry the Olympic torch. She laughed. I asked my friends to nominate me for London 2012 but I didn’t get the role as lots of people applied. It still hurts to this day as I know London won’t have the Olympics again.

    Only a very few can boast about having a complete collection of Olympic torches (Summer or Winter or Both!). Helsinki only officially made 22 of them.
    I have a couple of torches myself, knowing that to have a complete collection is close to impossible.

      Learn history. Greece didn't start the modern olympics ... It was a joint German-Greek invention. And Greece has been ruled by German royals back then, as the modern olympics have been initiated. Also the torch tradition is a pure German "invention".
