- An evap line (evaporation line) is a faint line that appears after a negative test has dried. Because tests are typically meant to be read three to five minutes after they are taken, the tests are still damp at the time they are read. After this time frame passes, the urine in the test dries or evaporates, leaving behind a faint line. This info is so helpful!! This gave me relief & I wasn’t sure if mine was positive or not. Thankfully it is just an evaporation line. Mine is a very faint gray line when the line is red or whatever color it is when it is positive. Whew! I’m relieved.

@@rijudane you should only pay attention to it within the first 3 minutes of testing, anything after that can be a evap line, which often happens with blue dye tests
So I took two tests at the same time. One didn’t test at all. No lines. The other had both lines but one was faint. This was within 10 minutes. What does this mean? I’m gonna get another test but I’d like to know and yes they were Both pink lines
What does it mean when you just peed on the stick you see faint blue line but once it's done the line is just a light clear line you can see?
Ive had evap lines that were color. Faint though but i know they are negative based on how far along i am. Lets say at 15dpo and i get a faint line i sorta assume my line should of been way darker. Note that this isnt always the cause ppl can have low htg. But for me i know that im seeing a evap line.
It is because the evap dye drys onto the evap line and possibly bc you didnt add 3 to 4 drops of pee or held it for 4 seconds.and only did 2 dropsof pee or less seconds in pee.
Make sure u dont go over the mark either.

By the time my doctor was able to order a blood test my hcg test was negative. Though she did say it could have been a chemical pregnancy, or that my levels are too low she told me if I dont get a period in the next 2-3 weeks to take another test.

My problem is I keep getting very faint lines the past couple days but once they dry the line isn’t as visible? My period is still 6 days away so I know it’s early but it’s very discouraging to get a positive then go to look at the same test later in the day and the line be almost gone.
I got a pink evap line twice and I got my period between taking the two tests. Definitely evap as there was absolutely nothing there until about 9 hours later then a semi strong pink line showed up after the tests dried.

Hello, I know these comments are 4 and 3 years old, but I'm now in this exact situation as well. Not sure how long I was checking the test and when I looked after a long time, a very faint, second line was there. Need to buy another test, since we shared two tests between my friend and me lol. Wish me luck
I had line up a ovulation strip with hcg strip thought my hcg was positive but the dye just ran on to other strip giving it color lol so don’t do that either or you will freak your self out

I’m confused i’ve had a positive test from a hcg dip and clearblue, and negative of both too, i’m 7 days late for period but 5 days late it cycle length, never been more confused
Back in January of this year I randomly took a test and it was negative (that’s what I assumed)... I tossed it and went to work... came back from work 8 hours later and it was just the slightest pink line... I immediately freaked out until I googled it and found out about evaporation lines. This was about 8 days before my period was due... I took another about 6 days before my period was due and it was negative.... fast forward 6 days and my period never came. The next day I took another test and BAM two very visible lines. Unfortunately the pregnancy ended at 6 weeks.
Got on birth control in March (the kind where I only get a period every 3 months).... started having random cramps a few days ago (similar to when I was pregnant last time) I took a test to ease my mind and to eliminate pregnancy. Bc I am on birth control AND I take my pill like clock work I knew it was impossible to be pregnant. Well not to my surprise it showed up negative initially... BUT my boyfriend looked in the trash about 4 hours after I took it and he swears it’s positive. It’s a very slight pink line.... similar to last time.... now it’s a game of cat and mouse since I don’t have a period due until the end of August.

I read mine right away and it was a clear blue test. So no way for the urine to get on the test. But I see a faint gain super gain line. I told my husband to look at it so I knew I wasn’t imagining a line and he saw it too.

mine had no line but had a blue ink smudge for a minute? but slowly it turned to a vertical line but it doesn't cross over the control line... it is blue but cut off was the test inconclusive?

I got half of a pink line and the control line was fully pink but I'm having cramping bloatedness I feel nauseous I've been having slight headaches lately and that was the same signs I had on my second pregnancy so I don't know if I am or not still waiting on my menstrual I hope that I am because we wanted a baby another one

Okay can someone in the comments help me , I took 3 clear blue all was negative first then came back positive all 3 has blue lines , no gray or or faint line straight blue
So I bought a cheap dollar tree pregnancy test and it the controls line didn’t show up, but the test line was real faint. What dose that mean? I think it was broken or just cheap.
If the control line didn't show up I'd say it's a faulty test, try another one out.
My problem is I got a blue dye test because it was the cheapest one at the time. I took it and the line came back immediately with a very very faint blue so I’m saying like oh I’m pregnant so I went and bought more pink and blue dye test again the blue dye test, very faint blue lines. The pink dye had a very faint pink line. And it was still very early to be testing so then I got a first response and it came back negative which was weird and so then I waited and took a digital which came back negative so I am royally confused so now I guess I’m just gonna wait to start my period and if I don’t, I will take the last test I have and see what happens.

I took a test and it had a very faint line, I don't remember if I checked it too late however I took another test and it was negative but the line was blue dyed... I also think it's possibly too early to detect hcg because my period isn't due yet what do you suggest or think this could all mean.

I took a test today (NOT first morning urine) and there was no line. Threw it away. An hour and half or so I come back and look at it because idk why and there was a very in my face blue line. I don’t know when exactly the line appeared but I am positive I waited at least 10 minutes before throwing it out.

@@heenabhatti9903 I don’t know if this helps but I had a faint line on my first test but the line looked too thick for a faint so I was paranoid..I then bought two more test the following night and my clear blue was negative and then a little later I was saw a faint line..I then took the second test which was a different brand and it was negative..then about a week later I got my period. I’m pretty sure since I had gave birth recently my period became irregular. Hope everything works out:)

Okay so I took a test and got an evap line (thin line and more to the left) then two weeks later I tested today and I got busy so I couldn’t check it right away but when I did it was a positive (blue and thick) then after I left it in my purse and it got a little darker and just looks straight positive. So am I pregnant or is it an evap line again? It’s the same test but different lines.

What if the evap line is pink
Today I took two test a few hours apart from each other and both have super faint lines. I do however see some blue on those faint lines😭 i looked at my test 3 min after so I know they were there right away. I am hoping to retest tomorrow and see a darker line. I have been trying for 4 years and this is the very first time I get anything!
I got a really faint line too. It was within 3 mins of taking the test. Like you said it, I’ve been trying for 4 years and it’s the first time I’ve ever seen anything, ever. I’m trying not to get my hopes up and then be disappointed. Learning about evap lines has thrown me off a bit. Gonna test again tomorrow. *sigh* I really want to be excited but I’m scared!
Please let me know how that goes. I’ve had a few symptoms and since then tested multiple times and all came back negative.. I will testing again tonight and see what comes up. We can’t give up.

You should show an example of this Evap line
When i took the pregnancy test (1st day missed period) It shows negative in 5mins so i just left it in my room and slept but It turns into a very visible pink line when i woke up. Then i took another pregnancy test and it shows a very faint baby pink line in 5minutes until I sleep, then when i woke up, it shows a clear pink line again but not as clear pink as the first one.
So a faint blue line means pregnancy
I’m 5 days late, we’ll I thought I was but always was thinking this whole month I had ovulated a week late because my boobs started hurting a week later than they usually do before my cycle. So I took two tests and they were both very light blue and did not show up at the right time frame. More like about 20 min after but they do have color. I plan to test again in a few days

I’m currently very scared cause on June 20 I had a little bit of spotting and that same day 30 mins later more blood appeared and I had mild cramps and it lasted 7 days I’m not sure if it was spotting or my period because i took two test and one looked very very light not sure if it was evaporated but my breast are hurting liek they always do before my period but I’ve had nausea but not sure if it was because I was really nervous and stressed out and felt like a poking sensation over my pelvis hopefully I get my period 🤞🏼

everyone please help I found out i was pregnant on 3rd Febuary 2020 but i miscarried on 15th February at 4 weeks. 2 weeks after that i took a Several hpts and they were negative. so i knew i was clear and ready to start trying again. I had a positive opks on the 12th March and at 12dpo i took a hpt and it was a faint positive. I took another one 2 day later and it was negative. @@SoulRedemption1 I stopped being positive after I started bleeding then I took one recently same problem I'm wondering maybe it has to do with ovulation. Not sure or maybe my eyes are just bad from using bleach this morning. And just got in adjusting to the light. But last time I actually had lines so I'm guess something was starting and it made me a day late for my period probably a chemical situation

I’m trying to figure out what’s wrong w me because I’ve had awful cramping for the las three months and not getting my period since December 12... and I’ve had pregnancy symptoms since but I just now decided to take a test on Wednesday morning and it came out negative. @@SoulRedemption1 no I took another test put the flashlight on a frer and it turned pink but extremely faint then I got bloody discharge this evening pretty sure normal period weird symptoms oddpregnancy tests and hardly even had sex these past two months it goes negative when I get my period though so I have no clue what's going on I should probably see a Dr.

Ummm. I took a test yesterday and it came back negative. Didn’t think much of it, and threw it away…… well. Was taking out the trash this morning and happened to glance at the test and there were two very pink lines there. Not a hint of gray. So obviously I took another one and got a faint positive. Now I’m here at the university of CZcams 🙄 trying not to panic.

My test has a very thin thin line, I waited the right amount of time and looked at it, and then I went out, a few hours later I came back and checked it and there was a thin thin blue line, but I took three, the first one I took, I waited five-ten mins and looked at it and there was nothing, but I went out then came back and there was a thin as line, then the nest day I took another one, it came up negative, then that night I also took the third one and I went out that night waited checked, it was blank, I went out and came back hours later then there was a thin blue line again, but the one I took between the first and third was blank? Someone help 😭😭
The test are only accurate during the timeframe on the instructions. If ur reading over the instruction time then it is an evap line.

I’ve been having phantom kicks for a couple weeks now and I was freaking out because I have an IUD and am done having kids and I got this thin blue line on two tests and even though I knew it was most likely an evap line I still freaked out. It’s a very thin single line that’s not the width of what the line is supposed to be. The first one I didn’t per enough so said screw it and just ran it under the tap just to not feel like I completely wasted it lol and the line showed up faint! That’s when I knew it was just the test itself lol.

@@akshayfanclub694 well i tested after an embryo transfer for ivf. In your case if you have tested on the date of your expected period or any day after that the result would be true
