Like the Grand Canyon Uluru looks better in the rain than glorious sunshine. Nice video.

If rainfall like this began somehow falling regularly on Uluru, very soon plants would begin germinating from seeds which have been blown onto it and have lodged in cracks and holes. Following small plants like grasses, shrubs and trees would begin to appear - and the entire appearance of Uluru would change from mostly bare, smooth rock. I know this won't happen in real life, but think of how different it would be.

It rained at the beginning of my return trip down the rock in late 1985. I got several pictures and the rock shows an odd almost velvet texture when it’s wet. I actually feared that the rain wouldn’t stop and it would be too slippery to descend back down, but we made it back to the tour bus.
At the beginning of the ascent of the rock one young woman from Canada had a panic attack and I had to go back down with her. She thought she was going to die. I wish I could remember the name of the tour company. Maybe there is a Facebook group for people who went on the tour to connect?

Thats what I was wondering, perhaps the rain chased out some toads... are there toads there? Sounded more like goats though. I really have no idea.

    Hi Kai Australis,
My name is Jeff Bruer and I'm a video producer working for Warlpiri Media Association (aka PAW Media & Communications) in Yuendumu on the edge of the Tanami Desert, Northern Territory. We’re a little not-for-profit media outfit operated by the local Aboriginal community to produce educational video and radio programs. I’m collaborating with Warlpiri Elders making a video documentary about their Rain Dreaming stories that cross Australia, and I'd love to talk to you about licensing a few seconds of your beautiful rain on Uluru footage for use in our project. You'd keep ownership of the material but we'd pay you for permission to incorporate some of it into our program. I'd be very grateful if you could email me at jeff@pawmedia.com.au with your contact details so we can discuss my proposal further.
    Warm regards
    Jeff Bruer

Do the Aboriginals agree with you and is there any proof of a underground root system? I know that Devils Tower in Wyoming is an ancient pre flood Silican Tree stump.
