Even with the issues the condition of this is pretty amazing. While less likely, if any of those need new motors you can't go wrong with Tamiya, great quality, and they have different models that prefer speed/torque/etc, with the right motor you can get a Plarail blazing fast.
I’ve been thinking about trying to collect some stuff from this era of Tomy, and since you’ve got quite a bit of it yourself, I thought I might ask: Do you have any tips for finding/collecting stuff from this era? If you do, I’d quite like to hear them.
Hey trains are fun. I got something that i would like to see if you can help me with it. If not thats ok. Anyways Recently I got a HO Scale Chattanooga Tyco tender driven. It has a pancake motor just like a Rock Island sharknose from tyco ho scale. The problem is that when it gets power the motor screams. I toke a good look around clean what i could and found out the drive rod is just spinning in the drive gear. the smallest one that moves the bigger gears that moves the wheels. I was wondering if you had any ideas on how to hook the little driving gear back to the drive rod? Without hurting the motor to much i don't want to ruin the original motor. Thanks ahead of time if your willing to help. If not thats all ok.
Love the operating crane and the electric signal that keys into the stop track, I wish the crane was just slightly wider to fit the normal "double" track width under it Ugh, I've had stuff come soaked in WD40 before. At best it counteracts any grip from the wheels, at worst it starts dissolving things Here's a site with some pictures that might help you out with getting the gears in right: sunstomyandfriends.weebly.com/vintage-tomy-repair-guides-including-merry-go.html Some of the other tabs on that site have the UK "train spotter's guides," which are basically catalogs which should have just about every UK release in them at least. Sounds like maybe you have a split gear - the motor is running, but no gear crunching sounds to be happening - check the output gear on the motor itself to see if it is split
This size of the set was my favorite thing about it. Plenty of room for an engine to go about.
I remember getting that set for christmas one year. It was very well used :) Thanks for letting me relive my childhood a little bit
That’s a great video of the Tomy Train Set

I know the set is real but looking at the box it looked like some sort of bootleg or whatever.
Lol
It's eBay
Don’t put wd40 in your motors
EBAY
Never trust eBay
I have had great experience with it
Odd. As someone who has done over 10000 transactions on eBay I’ll have to strongly disagree
My teacher got a book for eBay and someone took out a picture
@@TrainTsarFun hmm I mean I bought a Tomy Stepney and said it was spotless but... the coal bunker came off, that was the only problem I had with eBay
