    Very inspirational. Thank you for showing what can be done, including some nice milling on the Lathe.

      Hi Alan. I’ve watched a few of your videos & I find you inspire me to make things in my new workshop that I would have attempted. I also thought the tip for milling in a bench drill really clever indeed. I really hope you keep on making them. Thanks

    Alan loved the step bystep way you went about this it shows what can be achived without a huge great milling machine of expensove castings i plan on making a smaller version at some point for my simat Nigel

    Very impressed with your work holding on the lathe. I have made a similar one, except I have a mill so I did not need to hold work like you did. But I learn and now have a few extra tricks for my lathe as well. Wanted to point out two things; first, mine like yours requires the turning to be far enough away from the chuck to insure no chuck interference (this has caused me to sometimes secure the work rather poorly), second, my lathe chuck is mounted by screw threads, so running in reverse is extremely dangerous.
    Overall very good job!!

    Get a collect holder for the mill tools, your methods are very dangerous and dimensions / finish must be poor due to the chatter and play. However well done I like it

    Why not just put a cut mark on the side, and a 0 mark on the sliding piece. Then all you need do, is mark on the center for each inch of ball size, from the zero mark?

    • @enotsengineering
      @enotsengineering  Před 6 lety +1

      Hi Ronald
      I could do that if I used the same tool tip and tool holder. As I have different tool holders the tool position changes, so the marks would be wrong.

    EEEK! Never, ever, use a drill chuck with a milling cutter. Drills push back into the chuck as they cut, end mills pull out. Nothing to do with the chuck holding taper. It's potentially dangerous, damaged work, damaged operator if cutter escapes. BobUK.
