What’s up guys and gals, I’m Kage848. I love to make videos for CZcams, mostly early access survival games like 7 Days to Die, Empyrion, Raft, Mist Survival, The Forest, and more! I also dabble in City Builders and strategy games like Civilization 5, Civilization 6, Dawn of Man, Stonehearth, Factorio and Rim World. I do at least two videos everyday of mainly tutorials, let’s plays and general gameplay footage. Thanks for watching my videos.
    ---------------------------------
This Early Access game is not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development.

send some constructive critiques to the Devs regarding UI improvements for villagers and other input for the game.
build some fortifications to corral raiders and create kill boxes via chokepoints.
this will keep them away from your archers while you murder theirs

Every food has a duration on it. 3 8-hour foods will be more than enough to cover working hours. Dont forget to setup a delivery back to your HQ for spoiled food so it does clog your outpost storage.
Sending new tools everyday will clog your storage, just keep 2 good pickaxes there. Check for when its down to one and send another.
You want seed pouches for your villagers and not log slings. Seed pouches give them more inventory slots and for NPC, the slot type does NOT matter. For you the player it does. So for you, seed pouches only accept seeds. For your villagers its just open inventory slots.
You need to have a separate quad for archers. And whenever you are "marching" you need to have them on "hold ground" and not "charging". They were going into the woods to attack the wolves because you had them on "charging". Archers should basically ALWAYS be left on hold ground, and you have your melee guys charge when the enemies are closer. This is going be be critical on liberation and BIG reclamation parties.
You villagers needs better skills before they need better gear. You're going to see soon enough the good weapons and shields are locked behind skill numbers. For where you're at in game, Melee villagers should be 3-4 strength and 1-hand. Archers should be 3-4 Agility and Archery (especially the ones hunting boars). There is a massive swing in your favor once you have bronze arrows and your archers get up to 5-6

New to your channel. Just discovered you 2 days ago and binge watched your entire Bellwright series. Obviously, I've been enjoying it you that may make life MUCH easier.
NOTE: All references to "you" are to be consider to mean, "your character."
    1. As you discovered in the first couple videos, although your personal tent can only be in one location, you can have more than one village. With the fast travel option you can easily bop from one place to another quickly.
2a. Travelling from north to south with your entire "army," seems to be a royal pain in the arse! You currently have, "HQ," and a number of outposts in the north. From Hunter, trapper and harvesting outposts - all funneling their goods to the HQ - you have zero presence in the south. The further from HQ, the more danger your outposts would be.
2b. Based on the location of your current HQ and overall size of the map, a potential good location would be somewhere southeast of Blackridge, about a 1/3 of the way between Farnworth and Horndean. (Draw an imaginary line between Farn and Horn. Leave Blackridge and head to the middle of that line. When you get about 30% of the way there, look for a place to call your "southern home." (Eliminate Bandits if needed) This base would obviously not need your tent or research facilities. However, you could set up extra farms, storage, barns, taverns, crafting stations, etc. For it's initial settlers, take 2-3 people from the north with you.
    3. For simplicity sake, we will call HQ, "North Village" and the new village, "South Village." While North goes on exactly as you have planned, South can help take advantage of a whole new area on the map. Additional outposts, harvest, mining, farming, hunting, trapping, etc in the southern area can all feed to South Village.
    4. Given North is your main village, the southern village would only need to be about 70% the size... along with about 2/3 - 3/4 the people. Wherein you may have 20 people in the north (including the people at the outposts), 12 - 15 people may be enough for the South Village.
    5. Yes this does open up a new area for bandits to raid. However, you have fast travel and can get there fast to help and prepare them. But the biggest thing is when you need your army and they are on the other side of the map - as you have recently experienced - you have a logistical nightmare. Instead, with a South Village, you have a ready - albeit slightly smaller - army close by to draw from.
    6. Should the need arise for a massive army, you mobilize one village and sent them to the other. When they get there, they will have food and supplies already there!
    7. As for outposts, may I suggest a system - of your choosing - that will help you identify which location is which, simply by looking at the menu? What I mean is this: Currently you will see something like, "Outpost 1, Outpost 2, Outpost 3." Which one is which? Which one is north of HQ? Which one is companion X located? With a 2nd village, you could EASILY describe an outpost as, "Southern Outpost West," or "Northern Hunting Camp South." These could be abbreviated as, "S Out W," and, "N Hunt S," for the outpost west of the southern village and the hunting camp south of the Northern Village. As another example, currently, you could easily say, "HQ HC east," or, "HQ hunt E," for the hunting camp east of HQ. Helping to quickly identify from a menu makes life massively easier.
    8) Hire as many as you want from any village, but do not put more than 2 of them at the same place. You already have 2 from this town? Send #3 & 4 to South Village. Send the 5th & 6th to separate outposts in either the north or the south. A really good harvester? GOOD! He or she may like the southern equivalent of River Reed Town. Trust me, building a 2nd village will not be all that hard.
    9) There is a massive fight due to happen in the far west of the map? Your troops coming from two different locations can make flanking the enemy so very much easier.
As for the hunting... Boars kill people. Wolves kill people. Bunnies, Bambi and black birds kill no one. If your hunter gets killed all the time when hunting boar.... STOP HUNTING BOAR! If he gets killed all the time hunting rabbits, we may have a problem with your hunter.

If you build a workbench at the outpost and make sure they have the items necessary, (straps and wood, for instance on a pickaxe), they can repair their own tools instead of you having to guess how many to send every day. Have them forage the wood from the foraging hut, ship them a strap every day alongside the food, and the outpost will run itself.

I havent played this since Soulmask was released. But i really should get back to it, but both are great games. Im a little ahead of you ( at time of video ) as ive liberated both Heren and Pads, but Soulmask came at a good time, as i was getting a little burnt out in Bellwright, but getting the feeling back now. Might be time to hop back in.

One last piece of advice I have learned recently, in addition to saying thanks for another bellwright video.....hardwood logs. Those have been my biggest bottleneck. Get a lumber camp down by Farnworth asap and get someone stocking up on hardwood logs asap. You need the logs, the planks, and the resin (1 hardwood log in a charcoal burner for that, 2 of them for charcoal) they will eventually make as a resource for all the buildings coming. The trees over near Farnworth are almost all hardwood.

    • @firecat3613
      @firecat3613 Před měsícem

I was suggesting he not only do that but create a 2nd village somewhere southeast of Blackridge. The logging camp you suggest could funnel it's efforts there... which could be stored and brought north to HQ as needed. It also alleviates the, "My army is on the other side of the map," logistical nightmare.

If you tell them to stock up and they have inventory, from what I saw, they will put stuff away and restock the food amount that I tell them to get, and get weapons if they need them.

I set up the outpost with a house, mining hut and storage. I have delivered from my main town two radishes and two turnips (been enough food so far) and a pick axe daily. From the outpost I get the copper and any broken pickaxes. You have to check your settings on the mining camp periodically because I’m sure mine reset at some point. I also give the worker good armour and weapons just in case a bandit wanders through.

Padstow is a better place to start because of the carpenter. The faster you can build the town hall the easier the game gets

For gear, I use the hand-me-down method. I make a couple of the best sets I can, strip down my best fighters and give them the new stuff, then hand their stuff down the line to the others, otherwise I ran into what you are getting where I try to make 10 of the same thing, and by the time they are made, I want to make 10 more of something new.

  • @hrd4mud
    @hrd4mud Před měsícem

The easiest way to manage their gear is strip them then command them to the armour storage they will grab the best available in it. They will not replace gear but if they have none they will grab best available.

I’m having the same issues with the tech tree some armour only improves in increments of one so I’m left with a bunch of stuff. I only make a few at a time and slowly improve the troops. The crappy old armour I trade with liberated villages and I save a few old pieces for when I have to expel people from town because of their stats, while reasonable at the beginning of the game they become less impressive as you progress.

I see the nerfed the required professions on so many important things, not sure its a good thing to make things so easy
it was indeed hard but doable before and it made challenging since you needed the woodsman for the drying rack and the blacksmith for the better gear.
I usually prefer it easier, but sometimes making it too easy removes the challenge and the sense of accomplishment when you do make it...
