Do you have a story when your gear was lost, stolen or damaged?! Share your story in the comments! 💜 STAY SAFE!
My Cajon got damaged when I was traveling to the Dominican Republic. That's the only time I've had equipment that was damaged while traveling. I usually don't like to travel with any equipment from my studio unless it's small enough to carry around. I took my sp404mk2 with me while traveling once and did not have any issues. Thank goodness. 🙏🏾 I also got the decksavers and covers for all of my equipment too.
This was a much needed video. A "coat tail puller" because I have been a lil' comfortable (not comfortable enough to be willie nilly) but I don't like letting people in my space. If something comes up missing, I'll know who it was. Great tips on overall protection of ones gear across the board (you covered everything). Thanks for taking the time to ring the bell for us.
Of course! I’ve heard a lot of stories of people getting taken advantage of and we have to tighten up and be proactive! Thank You for watching!
Very informative and needed. For the licenses and registration numbers, there are some sites that store your reg numbers as you buy stuff from them. But the spreadsheet isn't a bad idea. Thanks again and keep doing you.🙏🏾
Do you know that website? Sounds like a dope idea! Thank You for sharing and watching!
@@Sarah2ill it's not a website per se, but I know Native Instruments provides you to see your product keys for both hardware and software.
I just came back from a short weekend vacation. Halfway through my internet went out and my alarm system showed offline for the rest of my trip. 😯 When I got back it was still on but not connected to the net. I think I’m gonna take your advice and just lock my most important gear away next time I travel.
That must of been very unsettling! Thank You for sharing!
Very informative. I have a few.
Kensington locks. If you gonna take the laptop you gotta take the desk type of thing. Lots of gear has the hole for it.
Label your adapters. Quick way to ruin your MPC etc with the wrong AC plugs. They could all look the same sometimes.
Power cycle your stuff in the correct order.
Powering on
1. Computer
2. Interface
3. Monitors.
Powering off reverse the steps...
Huge for bus powered interfaces that go boom and pop when you plug and unplug.
Plug in XLR cables both ends and then phantom power.
Take them batteries out the SP404 if you gonna be storing it or not using for a long time lol leaks.
Save your boxes. Especially if you storing for a while or you want to keep more value to sell.
Leave anything that controls volumes at safe levels so you don't come back to blow your monitors. Caution when listening to random people's stuff too lol.
Smoking, slow deterioration. White turns yellow, grey turns brown.
Don't just leave gear on all the time. The lights are pretty, but you burn out your screen, lights, and you make it more vulnerable to power annomilies like a drunk person hitting a pole on your street then the powers flickering.
Power conditioners or a surge protector can save you...but they're not all good.
Cheetos and Doritos are bad.
These are topics that aren't really talked about, and I'm gonna look into the insurance, and I keep Decksaver on everything! Great video!🙏🏾✊🏾💚
Thank you sis very informative 🙏🏾❤️
Thank You for watching!
I most definitely can use this advice. Thank you.💡🤔💯👍
Thank You for watching!
Really needed to see this. Thanks Sarah! 🙏🏾
Of course! Thank You for watching!
Thankfully the only time I’ve lost anything crucial was when I left some luggage on a train while sleep deprived from an 18 hour journey.
Though sadly the signposted CCTV in the train turned out to be a dummy and the station cameras weren’t enough to recognise my suitcase or the person who took it. I replaced that generic suitcase with a brightly patterned one as a precaution, though I imagine an awesome silver hard case would be pretty distinctive too.
Insurance only covered about 10%, as the small print said they’d pay estimated resale value of stolen items rather than the purchase price… 🤦♀️
I don’t own a car, but I’ve always viewed leaving stuff in a car as about as safe as leaving it on the street. People in my family have had clothes and even wheelchairs stolen from cars!
I’ve been wanting to get decksavers for my SP404MK2 and my MPC One Retro. This was the push I needed. Used your code! 🙏🏽
Yo this is so crazy - was just watching your vid from 3 YEARS ago, where you asked for protection ideas - I told you, get the DeckSaver... and here it is! (Juno still has the best price if they stock the one you need but your code definitely levels the field so that's cool!)
Yea forreal. I had a Roland Sp 404 for about a half an hour, I got it on sale for $200 on Ebay. I was sick it was a Friday night.
Good tips, I have two DDJs with decksaver. Love them
great tips!!
My little workspace has a couple of windows. I cover my gear to reduce sunlight and dust.
Very helpful
Glad you think so!
Shalawam Sarah, Best video ever thank you
Thank You! I am working to level up each day! Thank You for wAtching!
I want that analog case for my mpc and mk2
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Is it possible to save or back up MPC projects in the cloud somewhere incase something happens to my MPC and I can access those projects on another mpc?
You can save your projects on an SD card and back those files to your external hard drive or onto a cloud storage site
Thank You for watching!!!!
until when can we use the discount code? Thanks for this Sarah! been wanting to get some Decksavers!
There is no time limit but that’s up to Decksaver.
Nice video as usual, why appearing on that unison add though...
Only 1 other thing, if you have a piece of equipment still on floppy disc back it up on multiple disc!💯😂. Oh how data has evolved lol.
Alot of Artist;s lost their laptops, they had to cancel album dates.
*promosm* ☀️
